I was transported in August. I gave the EMT my insurance card, but because it was out of state insurance, it never got applied correctly. I emailed Patty (Supervisor) directly and her and Charles quickly sorted out my claim issue and got it paid. I see a lot of people complaining, but if you just take a moment to explain your situation, they will go above and beyond to handle the issue for you. I think they did a great job and I am so glad they were there for me when I needed it. Thank you!

My husband fell off the ladder, called 911 and ambulance came. Didn't get names but several paramedics came and were very attentive. They were nice to me and our cat. Was pleased with the paramedics caring response. Thank you.

The EMT interrogated me about drugs even though I had just survived a hurricane and was vomiting from an infection. He had the nerve to walk by me at the hospital and say, "see no drugs!" after the test came out negative. A couple questions and even the test would have made some sense, but the 10th time asking me without even listening to any other possibility and refusing care until I admitted something untrue. That's malpractice. And they had the nerve to bill me after almost letting me die and wasting time they could have spent providing care.

You'd be safer driving yourself to the hospital.

Horrible billing. They'll put you in collections before your insurance has a chance to pay the bill. Customer service is even worse.

On Aug 24 2022, My wife came home and found me in a chair that I could not get out of, and called 911. She told them she thought I had a stroke. I was incoherent, lethargic, weak and confused with a headache and slurred speech. The ambulance took me to the hospital where I was diagnosed with a Critical Subdural Hematoma. (A type of brain bleed). I was admitted and placed into ICU, the following day I had an Emergency Craniotomy operation which saved my life. I spent 13 days in the hospital recovering. Recently I received a bill from Volusia County for over $792.00 for transportation to the hospital which Medicare had determined to be NOT MEDICALLY NECESSARY. The medics had
stated that I only had a headache and was weak. Volusia County has repeatedly refused to recode the bill because of this. I suppose that it is hard to get anyone to admit that they made a mistake in quickly dismissing the seriousness of this call. Vol. County admits that the medics are not qualified to make a determination in this type of case, but they want me to jump through hoops to provide them with absolute proof that this trip was necessary. I am assuming that the person behind the desk coding the bill is infallible.

Apparently since the call that they answered was from a witness and not from the police they deemed it an non emergency. Even though my daughter was stuck in the car was injured and couldn’t have made a call. She had a concussion that lasted almost a year. Then we found out last year, never having received a bill that we owed them money. They refused to send an invoice at the time. Made us jump through hops to get them the electronic billing info from our health insurance. The bill gets rejected because they wrote non emergency on it. They won’t correct it because they would have to rebill for double the amount $600. So I should be grateful that they are billing me only 70. and I can’t even get reimbursed because of how they bill. Then I was told they have a lot of tourists which I have no idea what that has to do with anything.

If this ambulance company comes to pick you up if you don’t want to end up with a bill, better make sure before letting them take you to the hospital of how they are going to bill you.

I just had to call 911 for a friend. The fire department arrived first..as always, then the paramedic team. The fire department was professional, proficient and companionate. The EMT girl came in aggravated to be there and doing all she could to avoid taking my friend to the hospital. Her attempts to get her to say she didn't want to go were everything except "TELL ME YOU DON'T WANT TO GO". I told my friend to let them leave because they didn't want to take her and the young pock face girl told ME to leave!! The nerve of this young person...ugly inside and out...has chosen the wrong line of work!! As they were taking her out this person was still talking about me...rather than the health of my friend, hence showing her adolescent behavior yet again.
After speaking with the fire department EMT I was informed that her behavior is common and 100% known and UNCALLED FOR. Yet nothing has been done to remove her from this position.

Let me be the first to get this process started!! This young female has NO BUSINESS being a first responder. I have 5 other EMTs that were in that room and she was the only one unprofessional and completely unexceptable. I require a response and I will be calling WESH2 if I don't get one!! My friend may not even live thru the night and I promise I will be far more livid than I am now if she dies!!!

She did die back then....6 days after this episode and still NEVER got a response from Volusia County EMT that was so AWFUL to her.

Rude and condescending is right on. They did not take the urgency of my vertigo attack seriously and the woman emt was short and superior when I mentioned that we were taking the loooong way to get there (they get paid by the mile). They then sat me in the public waiting room at the hospital and then left.. horribly non empathetic to my situation. I was then charged almost $700 dollars for that particular experience. I will never use an ambulance again.
P.S. Had to use it again..this time Meghan and her crew were exceptional and my bad review earlier no way reflects on her and her team. Excellent.
