UCLA Health Downtown Los Angeles is located next to Macy’s in a multi story shopping complex. UCLA Health validates the parking ticket reducing the cost to about $3.00. The parking structure is located in the Macy’s complex there are entrances on Eighth Street and on Flower. There is a separate entrance into UCLA Health on Level Two. All visitors must be screened by security before entering the facility.

The facility has a general clinic and several medical specialties. The facility is very large with plenty of seating in the waiting room. The facility looks brand new and is very clean. Appointments can be made by calling the facility. Each specialty has a separate check-in area.

I’d rather have my nonexistent left nut castrated than have to come back here again.

First of all, it’s downtown so good luck finding street parking. They do have their own dedicated parking garage shared with the tenants of the BLOC that you will most likely miss the first time around so you’ll have to circle since much like every other downtown - it’s all one way.

I checked in on time for my appt. The lady at the front checked my id and insurance card then told me I was good and that I could sit and wait. So sit and wait I did. So I’m sitting there waiting and watching everyone get called but me. 20 mins pass. 30 mins pass. I was deep scrolling on the gram so time kept passing. 45 mins pass and I notice people with appt times after me getting called. Finally, after sitting there for a full hour, I went to the front to ask how much longer the wait was going to be. The lady said oh no and proceeded to tell me I was in the wrong area. The area I needed to be at was down the hall. Directly across the reception was another desk with one person outside for a different dept. I heard when they called out for their patient. The room I needed to be in was a separate area with a separate door. It didn’t appear to me that they were calling out for their patients as their receptionist area was inside.
I told the man out front about my situation - that I was waiting a full hour on the other side not knowing or being told that i was in the wrong room. He told me he would have to check with the tech on duty. Said tech refused to see me. There was still a full hour left in the work day and the room was empty with no other patients, but I wasn’t accommodated. I feel like if the tech took the time to hear me out I could’ve maybe be seen, but who knows. What made me laugh was the man out front told me the earliest I could be seen was not until June. Yeah no.
I made this appt over the phone within 48 hours of the appt. For you to tell me I’’d have to wait 4 months is outrageous and a little insulting.

I’ll see y’all never.

UCLA Health dtla is a nice new facility with a gnarly entrance to the parking garage. It’s nicely located in an upscale retail shopping area with a convenient Starbucks. That said, avoid this place if you’ve got disabilities or difficulty walking. Aside from this, my beef is with their oncology unit. Support staff is great. My doctor wasn’t, though I’m not going to name names. I would avoid it if you value your life. Instead, go to either the Encino or Santa Monica Parkside offices for superior oncologists and easier parking plus terrific support staff.

Love seeing my doctor here - Dr. Yu is simply amazing. I had a terrible front office experience that unfortunately overshadows my positive experiences. Today, after my appt, I went to the front desk to check out and asked to set up the follow up appt, labs, imaging. I was told that I didn’t have a referral and to call back another day. I asked if she could just ask or call my doctor to confirm the specialist referral (I was seconds out from my appt with my doctor and only a few feet away from her). She said no but she can try to send a message. She had me sit and wait.. and wait.. and wait while she joked around with coworkers. I eventually got up and asked her about it again and she said that I didn’t need to wait for the referral, that it’ll probably come through by my appt. I had waited for nothing. I then told her I moved and that my pharmacy changed. I gave her the new address and confirmed it with her. I’m on my way to the new pharmacy to pick up my meds, only to find out that they had been sent to my old pharmacy. She clearly did not update my pharmacy or want to help me at all. It’s wildly disappointing that this is the level of support I’m getting from a UCLA facility. Never again.

I went to UCLA health for a regular checkup and to request a prescription. The doctor asked that I try a different medication first, and if it did not work out she said I could reach out and get the prescription for the initial medication I asked for. After what she provided didn't work, I was told I had to come in again for another visit (which was not previously communicated). I went in for another appointment and was there for a total of 5 minutes to get the medication I should have been prescribed in the first place. I was then charged $500 for that 5 minute visit. I called the billing department, thinking the $500 must be an error, but was told that is what it costs to see a doctor and "it's not their fault my deductible is high." The whole situation felt like a scam to make me come in for two visits. Beware of this place, they WILL overcharge you.

The last 3 visits to this location have been terrible. My doctors have been nothing short of amazing, however, the staff and nurses have been the worst. The first time, I waited 30 minutes after my doctor visit to get my labs but I had to go get someone because it had been so long. The second time, I was waiting 40 minutes after and the medical assistant told me to check out and they would call me soon. I’m not sure what happened, but they forgot about me. Over an hour after my appointment and still no labs. I had to leave for work, so I left and sent a message to my doctor explaining what happened and that they basically forgot about me. He apologized and said they could schedule a nurse visit for my labs at any time I’d like. I was called and told they’d schedule me at 915 but can be seen as early as 830. Not happy I had to come back, but granted the labs needed to get done. Well, here I am again today and it’s 9:10 and I still have not been seen. I went to ask and was told the nurse was seeing other patients. Wow, well at least tell me over the phone I’d be waiting and not given priority. Seriously?! I really hope they change the staff and nurses here soon. It’s not looking good on the doctors and UCLA health overall! I am seriously considering changing locations.

Had an appointment here recently and was probably one of the best experiences I’ve had. Doctor was attentive and listened to my needs. Nurse was kind and friendly as well. It’s like a one-stop shop. Saw the doctor, had lab work done in the same clinic room. No need to jump around to different departments or buildings. Beautifully designed, secure, and clean space. When I called to make this appointment I was scheduled within 3 days! Highly recommend if in DTLA and nearby areas.
