First service is slow. We was sitting in the waiting room for 8 hours. They don’t prioritize you they be sitting at them desk on they phones like they can’t get up and do some. It don’t a hour for you to pick up my pee. It don’t take 9hours to take my blood. I just feel like this service is unnecessarily slow. The doctors aren’t in a rush. It’s like they forget your there. You might as well be admitted if you attend this er.

I went today to get surgery and If I could give 0 stars I would! This was the worse I’ve ever been treated on a hospital. The nurse I had prepping me for surgery missed my vein for my IV and proceeded to say “ I haven’t missed a vein in 3 weeks” no to mention she was confused on why I was in so much pain. That was the worst IV I have ever had. Then they send it the head nurse she asked me why I don’t want to get the surgery done and I tell her word for word why. She is looking at me like I’m an idiot and walks out of the room because I told her I refuse to get my surgery done here. The doctor came in who was very nice and understood that I had a bad feeling and is making accommodations for to go to the main hospital for my surgery.

I hate this hospital… DO NOT COME HERE. The black girls are RUDE, and they are only there to say they work at a hospital. They made my cousin sit there for hours in pain and could’ve cared less about her. It’s dirty and dark and nasty in there… shut it DOWNNNNN… I hate them… and I pray they read this. Because I said it a million times while I was there… and they had an attitude with me for saying it. Worry about my cousin and not on how I feel about you and the staff. Treat your patients better… you don’t have a clue on what they’re going through. TRIFLING … I wish I could do this review without putting any stars on here 0 stars

I went to UAB Highlands with possible appendicitis or gallstones while 15 weeks pregnant. Every member of staff there was so friendly and warm and funny. All of my worries practically disappeared and everyone took so much care to make sure I was comfortable and answered all of my questions. I wish I could remember everyone’s names so I could give them personal shout outs, but our ultrasound tech Aleah, our nurse Delilah, and even the ER doctor were fantastic. My husband couldn’t go back with me during an ultrasound of the baby and the doctor took the time, even though they were so completely swamped, to take us to another room where my husband could go, wheeled the ultrasound machine into that room, and did a whole other ultrasound just so my husband could see that the baby was ok. Even though the waiting room was stressful and full of people having very loud phone conversations on speakerphone and FaceTime (come on people), I will go to this ER for any emergency needs.

I was recently admitted to UAB Highlands, and this was my first time being admitted (or even seen) there. I expected the typical ER experience when I got there, but I got so much more. The staff in the ER was amazing. The nurses, techs, and doctors were very competent in their jobs, and all had great bedside manner. I felt like I was in good hands, and I was.

When I was taken upstairs, I was equally impressed. Every tech, nurse, and NP that I saw had that same energy. I never felt like I was left out of the loop as to what was going on and they made sure that I was comfortable and well taken care of. You guys really blew me and my partner away with how well everything was handled. While I hope to never have to go back as a patient (for obvious reasons), I know that I will go back to Highlands if need be. Thank you all for making such a terrible experience at least bearable.

I do want to give a shout out to a few of the people who took care of me:

Jaimie in the ER was just the best. She immediately made me feel comfortable being there and took great care of me. She was able to make me laugh when I really needed to. I also felt like she really listened to the issues that I have been going through and sympathized with me.

Melissa was one of my nurses once I was taken upstairs and she was fantastic. She is very personable and I really felt like she listened to me and what was going on.

Felicia was another of my nurses and just like the others, she had bedside manner, compassion, and skill that others should strive for. I always looked forward to her coming into my room.

Quiana was one of my PCTs. She is one of the best blood drawers I have ever encountered. She also has a great sense of patient care overall, doing everything that she could to make sure I was comfortable.

Angela was great as well. She was very knowledgeable and had a calming presence.

I'm a patient here and this hospital have broken Hippa violations so if your love ones going to come here be careful of your information being gossip about around the nurses stations with these ghetto nurses discussing patients personal matters should not be talked about openly to each other and I also experience where season blend was put in my coffee from the dietary I put 3 EQUAL SWEETENER in it the coffee taste funny so I taste a burning sensation on my tongue and look in cup it was heavy with the substance please be careful bc that was not an accident it was intentionally

Some of the staff were very courteous and kind, however I basically had to do the nurses job for them. Whenever it was time for my pain medicine after having a kidney and large tumor removed, I had to go find the nurse and remind them. Sometimes my pain meds were 3-4 hours late. The room I was assigned to was 80 degrees and the would not fix it.

I have been going to UAB Highlands for serial casting to treat my foot contracture as a result of prolonged dystonia. The casting team is super nice and they’ll sign your cast. They’ll answer any questions you have and make sure you are being supported even through the treatment which can be painful. Megan, Tori Jade, Will, CJ, & Kadezia are all super nice!
