Dr Zacharis is a very sharp and caring doctor. He has handled my mom and nursed her back from pneumonia as if she was his own mom. He works well and communicates with other doctors very well so it was like a team effort to get my mom well. His staff Jennifer is accommodating, very caring and my mom (who is a retired nurse) recommends her. The staff in Port Orange is professional and so very pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend this doctor and his office.

I researched Pulmonologists on Google because I want to know all I can about them and what their patients have already experienced. My research showed that for the most part people were very pleased with his staff, his knowledge and his treatment. I made the appointment for my boyfriend. Ashley, his PA, was very professional but also very personable. Dr. Zacharis was down to business and said he can look at records from both hospitals and left the room to do that. Within minutes he returned to explain the lung scarring and what his plan of attack was. He called our pharmacy and called for a nebulizer to be delivered. By the next day we had begun everything. So far Dr Zacharis is everything I expected him to be and for that reason I feel better looking forward in our health journey!

My husband saw the Dr. for a serious cough and increasing shortness of breath, as well as a check on my sleep apnea. He ordered sleep studies and a CT of his lungs. When they hadn’t contacted him to schedule the CT scan 2 weeks later, I called his PA and left a message. Five days later, when neither the CT folks OR Dr. Zachiris’ PA had called, both my Endocrinologist and I called again. Nothing.

A month after my initial appointment, I had a followup, at which time I told the Dr. about the CT and lack of response from him. He blamed it on Advent Hospital and wrote orders AGAIN. It’s been 2 weeks and again, no call. Last Friday, my Endocrinologist’s PA checked on me, and when I told her what hadn’t happened and that my breathing was worse, she called my cardiologist, who sent me straight to Halifax Hospital. I have at least a liter of undefined fluid in my lungs. This could have been found 5-6 weeks ago. I like Dr. Zachiris. He came highly recommended and seemed both caring and knowledgeable. BUT, a physician is only as good as the staff he surrounds himself with. They have failed me on multiple occasions, and they also failed my Endocrinologist.

As a physician i have no complaint. However when I tried to explain that I thought there were problems with his front office he informed me that, "if you are looking for things, you will always find them, and that there are other practitioners too" meaning I could go elsewhere. I never got to tell him about the main snafu that delayed physical therapy for three weeks. I have no use for a physician who won't hear his patient out.

I'm so impressed with Dr Z, Ashley, and the entire staff. Not only with with their treatment, professionalism and friendliness, but they really went above and beyond. I had a medication that my insurance denied and instead of me having to go thru all the hassle of getting it approved, Dr. Z's office handled the situation for me. I didn't have to do a thing. Thank you.

I can't say enough about him. Excellent in critical care while i was in the hospital. And when i was released just as excellent.
Knows his stuff, patient orientated and very helpful.
I would definitely recommend him to all who need a great doctor.
