Receptionist was terribly rude—ironic that she works at a mental health office and actively makes clients’ mental health worse. The moment I walked in, I heard her trying to “sell”a client on the phone, telling them “if you really think about it, it’s only X dollars a week…” which should’ve given me a clue. Then I find that it’s mandatory to have weekly appointments, and instead of asking me about myself in any of the important ways, my provider was asking me nagging questions about my finances, like, “why don’t you value your mental health enough to pay X dollars weekly?” And “don’t you want me to be able to keep the lights on?” And then they continually tried to sell me on it after I opened up to them. They said, “I think you need this … weekly.” I have never been to a mental health office that was this obsessed with money. Extremely inconsiderate considering that the poorest among us are often the least mentally well. So bizarre, definitely never coming back.

Two years ago I made the step to find a therapist. I was in a lot of distress and had a hard time finding someone who accepted my insurance and was open to new clients. Like a saving grace, I eventually stumbled across Elizabeth Sagba who immediately took me in and slowly but surely helped to piece me back together.
I faced many life-transforming events in the time that I was under her care, and with each I was treated with indescribable empathy and given the tools to help myself grow and cope. Now, two years later as I (very tearfully) say goodbye, I feel confident, reassured and able to overcome every challenge that comes my way.
I will never ever forget the impact that Elizabeth had on my life, and appreciate her more than I could ever put in words. So if you're in need of a therapist, look no further- she is truly the very best.

Truly an amazing practice. Shoutout to Cass Hinlicky for being professional, kind, and passionate about mental wellness. I’d be in a different place without her expertise. Luisa, the office manager, is helpful and knowledgeable! She’ll always greet you with a smile upon arriving for your appointment. Highly recommend this place for your wellness needs 🙂

WARNING - If you have mental health issues that are moderate to severe, please avoid the Soho Center for Mental Health Counseling.
I had a wonderful Advanced Clinical Resident there, this review is solely a reflection of the practice and particularly the Head Directors. I had several sessions with the Advanced Clinical Resident and saw significant progress in myself; then was told, by unanimous choice of the "team" that someone else would be better suited and more experienced to treat me. Yes, my therapist made it clear through our sessions that they work collaboratively at the center, which should be an asset. That is not the issue. The issue was lack of transparency and knowledge about my care.
I didn't understand what exactly was it about my mental health issues that warranted a switch, especially if A) I was doing well from my point of view and B) the Advanced Clinical Resident noted that it wasn't their individual choice but the team's choice. I wanted clarity on why and what aspect of my health was a red flag/needed more attention or expertise. I was transferred to a Senior Psychotherapist that for personal reasons I felt was not right for me. I was frustrated. I asked to speak with a Director and was put in touch with the Associate Director who would only give me umbrella statements rather than specific answers and clearly didn't know my case at all. They put words into my mouth and spoke over me. I was angry and showed it, I'll admit, but I wasn't being heard. I was experiencing a moment of panic and disorder and severe emotional stress. The Associate Director then said I was "too much" for the practice but then tried to pretend they didn't say it, knowing they messed up. Then they emailed me saying since I wasn't interested in being matched with another clinician at the Soho Center, here are some external referrals; that's not what I was saying at all, and I noted that via email. Ultimately, the practice then decided to break up with me and has since ghosted me, which is horribly dehumanizing.
Upon doing more research on the Soho Center it became clear from a couple of phone calls with other practices as well as the Google Reviews that many have the same qualms about this place, specifically being put with individuals that were Residents rather than full-time psychotherapists. While it could be seen as a benefit working with Residents with a team behind them it is only a benefit if transparency is used. They also cannot expect us to understand titles and degrees and experiences as patients don't have the same level of expertise in the field; if I had needed a more experienced therapist I want to know why and I also believe this could've been established earlier in my care.
On top of it all, the practice ghosted me when I tried to get answers about my care. I had a horrible experience with an absolutely nasty receptionist who was antagonistic towards me and belittled me horribly as they knew I was trying to get in touch with the Directors via phone. I have worked in front of the house before, I understand it is challenging but I have always tried to show compassion and care as it is the role. I have emailed over 30 times asking to speak with Anthony, Kelley or Alexander and no one has gotten back to me.
A great amount of these reviews talk about abandonment. I hear you. Shame on you, Soho Center. You are unethical.

SCAM!!
Make sure you know what your insurance charges you for copay. This place WILL overcharge you and claim it’s the correct amount based on your insurance plan. They also will not provide you with an NPI number so that you can confirm the provider is in network. If you have your insurance company call them up for information, they will just tell insurance that their rep is not available. Honestly thanks to the admin with the nasty attitude. Because of her attitude, I canceled my appointment before wasting my money on this scammy place.

I come here for in-person therapy on Saturdays. It is a very nice, welcoming environment with clean offices and lovely people all around, from the front office staff to the medical professionals. I am happy with the care here.

Soho Center is convenient to reach and flexible with scheduling. I got my first appointment within a week. Luisa the office manager is welcoming and incredibly hardworking. Clare has been great to work with so far with empathetic care, and actionable discussion. Also this center is covered by insurance, and it was easy to set up payment online. It will great for the office to continue improving smooth digital bookings, verification, and payment.

I've had a wonderful time so far working with my new therapist K at the Soho Center! I feel really comfortable and happy to have found a great match for my personality and my needs.
The staff are super friendly, the facilities are very welcoming and peaceful, and the location in Soho gives me a reason to explore this beautiful neighborhood!
And they take my insurance!
