Worst customer experience I've ever had. I saw them over nine months ago and they still haven't processed my insurance claim. I've had to call Mt Sinai every month since to avoid having the outstanding balance, which is incorrect since my insurance never received the claim from them or the fact that I already paid my entire deductible at the time, sent over to debt collection. I can't believe this is a real hospital

I went to see a doctor last week. I don’t have insurance and paid in full ($150) for my 5 minute visit. They aren’t even able to do any bloodwork at this location so it was a waste of time and money. But then a week late I received my online bill for $260 (after I already paid in full). I called and was told that was a mistake. Ok. Today I woke up to a new bill—this time it was $800. I’m gonna call them one more time to inquire how I end up getting new bills for one visit that I already paid for. Then I will be following up w my attorney.

0 stars is what they deserve. They owe me a significant refund and will acknowledge it but give me a different reasons for why I haven't received it each time I call. And then they lie to me about following up or calling me back. It has been 14 months of me and my insurance trying to get my money back. The Mount Sinai billing department is incompetent and untrustworthy.

I felt that I should record my experience here, since its informative.

Most of the payment issues here are likely arising from Mt.Sinai's Emergency room services and not their regular physicians networks.

About a year ago, I was sent to emergency room by ambulance after a minor accident. The result of that visit is I received several bills sporadically, which I paid promptly. However, one bill seemed to not have been paid in full and a year later was sent to collections.

I called the number listed here and spoke to an agent within a few minutes. They asked which collection agency was calling me the reference # the provided, once they found the case they sent me to payments where I paid the outstanding balance and they said they would take care of the collections agency. The whole affair took a total of 15 minutes.

During my call with the billing services, I asked why the reference number associated with collections was not the same as my account # on my chart. They mentioned this is because this is billing from emergency and the hospital, while my chart is physicians. I've never experienced this kind of issue with anything with my physicians billing.

In general based on my expereince with Mt.Sinai, I will continue to use some of their specialists, but will avoid their emergency room when possible.

Unethical practices. I had a 10-minute telehealth visit and was billed $300 from the doctor and $400 for a facility fee on a TELEHEALTH visit. Before this, I called Mount Sinai 5 times to get an estimate for this visit. It was under $60. I now wish I got that in writing. Despite disputing this with their billing department and patient relations, this is the only large health network in NY that refuses to negotiate a bill, especially $700 for a 10-minute chat where nothing happened. It took them months to get back to me and despite offering to pay the amount initially discussed, they would not budge and threatened to send me to collections. I will not be voluntarily coming back to Mount Sinai.

After the appointment, I received a bill with an itemized charge for a 'Musculoskeletal system procedure,' which was not clearly explained. The worst. The billing and Financial services department somehow don’t communicate with each other. There are 1000 phone Numbers, and most of them either disconnect you or keep you on hold when no one is ever going to answer. I actually discovered, on my own, that i had been overbilled, and I had overpaid. Nobody in the billing department ever saw it. To their credit, they did eventually repay me in the amount of my overpayment. But that’s only because I found the error myself. They send 20 statements at once, at least once a week, even when I have requested paperless billing. I never look at them. I just throw them out. It’s unbelievable that an institution like this cannot have a proper billing system.
