After my recent move from Georgia to Alabama, transitioning by medical needs to UAB has proven to be hassle free. I’ve been impressed across multiple departments and facilities.
One star is lost on the UAB Patient Portal. I appreciate this type of access, especially since both medical and support staff have information pertaining to appointments, medication, after visit, summaries, etc. However, maneuvering around patient portal app is clumsy at best. A lot of deficiencies during the electronic check-in as well as reviewing up coming appointments. My medical teams used a specialized software called MyChart. It was much more robust with ease of use.

Dr. Still and her team was AWESOME! My mother's surgery went great, and recovery time was even better. After 4 weeks, she was cleared to return to her regular cardiologist and was even taken off some medications. I really like that she used layman terms when it comes to older patients who may not quite understand the procedure that they may need to be done to have the best quality of life! I also want to give a big shout-out to the receptionist (Krystal) for helping me with all the paperwork when it comes to getting FMLA so I can take care of my mother! The Joe family will always be grateful for them going the extra mile in all that they do for others.

I am a patent at the Endocrinology center at the Kirkland clinic. I recently started a new job which change my insurance. When trying to fill my prescriptions for my diabetes supplies I was informed I needed a prior authorization first. No big deal. Called the nurse at the endocrinology center to send my PA over so I can get my supplies. That was on Monday 9/2/24. I have called every single day since to get my prescription and NO PA sent over. I’ve called every single day to have it signed and set over. Which I’ve been told it would be done today, each day I’ve called. It’s now Friday, 9/6/24 and I am still without my diabetes supplies. This has been a terrible experience and what seems to be incompetence on the staff at the Kirkland clinic. As a type 1 diabetic I should not have to wait this long to have someone sign off for me to get my medication after calling every single day! This is beyond frustrating!!! Kirkland clinic… DO BETTER!

At Kirklin today for pre-op on 2 combined surgeries next week. Saw 1 Dr. and Anesthesiologist department, several employees. This evening had a survey request from hospital regarding cleanliness of employees seeing me. Funny you should ask?‍♀️I ask a CRNP if she had more than stubs left at night after foaming her hands constantly! Gloves, hand cleaners,they do it all and I thank you. I may look like PigPen from Charlie Brown but I don’t want it to rub off on anyone else or make you sick, so me thinking of you, thinking of us✌️?mercy from the mountain

I mean, who wants to have brain cancer and then make a two plus hour trip one way to another state, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Compared to the other clinical settings I've been in, the Kirklin Clinic is top-notch. COVID has unfortunately done away with the valet parking, but Google lists the parking deck as a separate entity. Routinely spaced throughout all of the facilities are attendants to assist patients and visitors in finding the doctor they are looking for or just to locate a restroom. Sneaky Pete's Restaurant is conveniently located for a quick, tasty bite on the ground floor of the parking deck. My favorite place to hang out is the Starbucks Cafe just as you cross the crosswalk into the main clinic on the second floor. I've been a patient of Dr. Nabors at The Kirklin Clinic for 10 years now, and I've always seen the Kirklin in the cleanest, working order. Unless you just happen to walk into the restroom right after someone made a mess, it's always clean. I don't use public restrooms. I seriously will go hours, but I will go to the restroom here. If you're interested in architecture, it's a beautiful building considering it's downtown Birmingham. It's a beautiful building situated anywhere.

The staff are very rude and egotistical. The problem is they will not talk to you about scheduling a follow-up appointment until 90 days after to give them time to schedule it for you. Twice now they did not schedule me for a follow-up and I had to wait 90 days to schedule one. I am in pain everyday and have been waiting over 9 months for surgery. Everytime I call there is a new different that has schedule my appointment and will call me back but no one ever does.

Update 2019 . Most primary Care doctors have moved over to the Whittaker clinic. Last time in the Lab at kirklin clinic lab there was a big improvement. Update July 2021 covid-19 check point at all entrances. More staff this visit. Wait times have improved. I have added pictures of the UAB Injection Clinic at 539 Richard Arrington Jr Blvd in the bottom of the UAB parking deck. Update for 2022 .

My family member went to dr Jeyarajan for a biopsy which was suppose to be a routine procedure .Well it was not so routine he crashed as they were finishing up .They revived him ,the dr came out and spoke to me stating they would be doing test to see what went wrong and he would be in there a few days .Well less than 15 hours he was deceased .dr never came back around and will not return calls.Hospital administration still hasn't given any answers.Please rethink using this facility .Very disappointed almost 4 months now still no contact from this dr and the patient advocate has not given any other follow up either.its going on 5 months now and still no response from this Dr at all .
