There are some great people who work at TMH but there are far too many people who really care way more about playing with their phones and comparing shopping finds than taking care of patients. I’ve heard people say well it’s an ER so that’s pretty much the same experience anywhere. Nope that is not true. I’ve had experiences in other hospitals where you never wondered if your loved one was actually going to survive the night but this is the second time I’ve been at TMH with a very seriously ill family member and really wasn’t sure if they even knew we were here! We had one nurse (Megan) who kept coming in and was amazing. The rest of the staff was so indifferent, unresponsive and frankly a little lazy that I cannot recommend TMH’s ER. The room did not feel clean either. Our call button was broken - or disabled. I suspect the latter. My husband was moved to ICU after 10 hours in the ER. He is sick enough to be in ICU but apparently not sick enough to have someone check on him unless I went out to ask for assistance. There is absolutely no sense of urgency with the bulk of this staff.

TMH is one awesome hospital featuring the regions best neonatal care and fabulous friendly staff throughout. Big changes @ TMH with Reno in progress the renovated Atrium looks amazing!!! That’s why TMH is my Hospital for Life 🙂

This hospital does not care about the well being of no patients. Leaves patient on bedside commode, don’t announce there self when entering room, don’t offer to help patient with showers. My fiancé came to take me a bath, sound like I heard somebody having intercourse on the stair well two days in a row around 2:-3:15am. Then I would here the toilet flush. Never asked to change my bedding, never offered to give washcloth to wash my hands after using restroom . There was a white lady beside me.Let her call for help they were quicker than they would be for me but even herself kept pressing the button to remind them she was on the bedside commode. Then before I left they knew I was leaving at noon but didn’t act like they were concerned to even bring me a bag to place my belongings in. Then they were trying to get rid of me so quick they left my walking stick behind but had the nerves to call me by my name after transport had already picked me up. If I didn’t know who God was and promises he made for me I do not worry. They need to get more staff if short and learn patients name as well as tell us there name when enter room. Hire people that have good English skills.

I really would have liked to give 4.5 to these individuals, but it would not allow for double rating. To be honest, the wait was really long. Came here with my mom about 1 pm on 9/8. It's 8:46pm and I'm still here. The staff interacted with were awesome. Nurse Brittany was phenomenal, with excellent bedside manners. She treated my mom with empathy and respect. Dr. Ashoo was professional and super helpful in identifying resources that would provide additional help with my mom's continued care. Thank you guys for making a truly stressful and daunting situation manageable. Wish we could clone you guys and place in every floor in this hospital!
Update: Just to be clear that the above review is not for the hospital/emergency room. IT IS ONLY FOR THE TWO INDIVIDUALS NAMED. They are the only two at this place that remember the oath they took for the profession.

Worse hospital experience of my life. Would not recommend this hospital. Many of their policies and procedures just don't work. I don't see much care for the patient. I've had two nurses out of, who knows 15, that have been empathetic and have communicated information that I needed to understand what was happening to me. Still don't understand why I have to ask for pain med after surgery. Oh and make sure to bring your own food if you do happen to have to stay here. If you're not in your room when they come around to take your order you're not going to get fed until 10:00 at night.

Beyond frustrated. My 77 year old mother's room phone ringer doesn't work and hasn't since she came out of surgery a week ago, so I asked for it to be replaced last Friday. I was told they'd try. After three days, I asked for the Patient Advocate, who comes by your room and tells you to contact her if you need anything. When she made it to the room, she didn't seem to feel that was a priority....winking at me to suggest that I go swap my mother's phone out for one in an empty room. So I bought my mother a simple flip phone...which worked well until the battery died, which is understandable. I called the nurses desk today to ask them to help her get her phone charged. They said they would. It still goes straight to the message the the voicemail hasn't been set up. I've let the nurses know that I also take care of my father who has heart failure and that my family has recently been hit by the flu. Not sure what else I can do.

The nurses I've had at TMH have been absolutely incredible during my time here. They genuinely care about me and how I feel. They have been nothing but caring during this horrible moment in my life. Being kind to nurses goes a long way.

The ER experience was great as well as it seemed like the staff really cared about getting resolutions to my problems.

The doctors have been somewhat confusing with contradicting instructions but I hope for that to be rectified when they refer me out to a specialist.

I have felt nothing but safe, welcome, and cared for by nurses Victoria and Riokay. I had the dream team helping me recover 💪

Very bad experience. No appropriate discharge plan according to Florida law. Several attorneys are interested in our case. We were basically informed to take our family member home and try to get them into rehab on our own, from home by 3 staff members (Pam, Ellen, Charlee) on 12/06/21. We were initially told on Friday 12/03 that a rehab facility was pending but our family consulted with an organization who advised that a rehab would not accept our family member and if they did, our family member would be sent back to the hospital. The primary care team advised us of this on Monday and tried to convince us to take our family member home without a referral of any kind or any needed equipment. During the attempted second discharge on Monday, the team offered a physical therapy evaluation but it has not happened yet. Our family member can hardly walk and the hospital, social worker, doctors, nurses, etc. are aware of this including the fact that my mom is without a bed and appropriate medical equipment. The social worker stated she would see if she could get our family member a walker and a bedside toilet on Monday, after we expressed our concerns with the discharge plan. Why wasn't this done before the hospital tried to discharge my mom on Friday and the following Monday?

The hospitalist Dr.V entered a note that we refused discharge AGAIN but no one spoke to us about a discharge on yesterday 12/07/21. We were advised while our family member had a one to one sitter, that she/he was fine to be discharged. There was no appropriate plan in place.

I have requested for someone to contact me twice through their online portal since Friday and no one has contacted me as of Wed at 3 am. I left a voicemail with an advocate Doug on Friday and am still waiting for a call back.

I would not recommend this hospital.
