I see many good reviews but personally, this program nearly killed me because of lies and lack of support when I was in a very vulnerable state. So please be careful admitting someone you love into this program. I luckily joined a new program and got my head on my shoulders but if not for that program, the lack of support and lies from SuffolkDBT would have very likely caused me to be dead. I tried to call and talk to someone about the problems I had within this program but no one called me back so, I’m just trying to warn anyone that sees this review šŸ™‚

Again, there are better programs out there, I don’t doubt this program has great amenities but a few very critical mistakes almost killed me so I just want people to be careful out there. God bless!!ā¤ļø

Suffolk DBT has helped my family tremendously! Myself, my 12 year old daughter and my ten year old daughter all participate in therapy. We have learned how to communicate with each other without conflict, we have learned how to have more meaningful relationships in our lives, to determine what we value, and how to communicate with each other and ourselves with respect and kindness. The staff is skilled, compassionate, and really makes sure your needs are met so you get the most out of your therapy. We have been to other Therapy Groups and did not have the desired outcomes until we came to Suffolk DBT! Special Thanks to Jamie, Erika and Bridget for all their help in helping us have a life worth living!

Suffolk DBT provides excellent care for their clients. When calling around for DBT it was hard finding a practice that offered all the components group, individual, family, diary cards, between skills coaching. They are the real deal and they work as a team! Can’t recommend them enough.

They do excellent work that is life changing. The therapists are the best. My only regret is that I wish I had learned the skills sooner. The skills you learn are so helpful and practical. So grateful to them!

Going to Suffolk DBT was the best thing I've ever done for my mental health. The weekly groups introduced me to kind and insightful people, and Erika is the best therapist I've ever had! If you're considering Suffolk DBT and/or you're on the fence about starting treatment here, I would say that it's a commitment that involves a lot of hard work, but it will be so worth your efforts. I truly couldn't be the person I am today without the help and support of everyone at the SuffolkDBT office!

Very disappointed in this place. If your child doesnt fit ā€œtheirā€ mold they discontinue your service. For instance they once complained that my child was distractive to the group because he got up a few times to go to the bathroom. If they took time to read his chart they would see that he has adhd/anxiety and this is the behavior that comes with it. We are there so they can help him work through it. If you are treating children with adhd/anxiety you should use other approachs other than sitting in desks for 2 hours. I have over 20 years experience working with children and anyone that has a background in working with children with adhd should have an understanding that they cant sit still for 2 hours and the therapist should be using other interactive approaches to engage all types of learners as well as using a hand on approach to calm their anxiety so they can receive the information and selfregulate. My child struggled to go to therapy because they dont take the time to get to know your child’s needs and taylor their instruction to how they learn. Your child has be able to learn ONLY auditorally and be able sit STILL in a sterile classroom like environment for 2 hours. My child did not look forward to going there. There were a few times where we were late do to his moods and they were not understanding of this. My child may have been more excited to go if they had a program that was interactive and not a sterile blank classroom. It is hard to convince your child that struggles with moods and has adhd/anxiety to go sit through a 2 hour seminar sitting in a desk after they just sat in school for 6 hours. Lastly if you have any outside life they are not flexible with changing your therapy time or if you have to miss a session. My son is extremely active with sports and music as well as my other children. They told me we weren’t a good fit because i had to switch his last two appointments virtually because my kids had holiday concerts that we wanted to attend as a family. They then told me I was late to my virtual appointment but they had me sitting in the waiting room of zoom for 22 minutes while i called the office. The office then told me I was wrong and didnt have an appointment. My husband then had to stop what he was doing and sign in on his device to let them know that i needed to be added to the zoom meeting. The meeting was a big disappointment and basically the advice is to ignore your child’s negative behavior and only praise the positive. With over 20 years working with children I am well aware that can work in many instances but cannot work in evey situation. The other lady on the group was trying to explain if your child is being violent you cant just ignore the behavior or if you are late to work because your child refuses to go to school you can’t consistently ignore the behavior unless you want to loose your job. Its a very if your child doesnt want to say sorry they shouldn’t have to and everyone around your child should be mindful of their mental state towalk away approach which is not realistic if your child is of our their home ā€œbubbleā€The therapist was set on ignoring negative behaviors is the only approach and did not offer the parent any other advice such as behavior charts, sensory activities, redirection etc ineffective to not listen to the parent that ignoring it can’t always be the solution and what other strategies can I use. This brings back to my original statement that they have a very narrow mind frame on how to handle emotions and come up alternative approaches as well as way of delivering their therapy. Finally its fine to part ways with your patients however it is extremely unprofessional not to leave your patient with a plan of where to get help if you are unable to. Basically just left us on the street. For the money we paid they could have done some research and provided us resources to look for help. Luckily we had already set up another therapist that my child has been meeting with for the past few weeks as I was having my doubts but I was trying to see the approach through.

Suffolk DBT is the only practice I know of that offers TRUE and comprehensive DBT- complete with consistent scheduling, phone coaching and a full consultation team. The team is beyond knowledgable and many of the clinicians go above and beyond to complete additional trainings and learn specialty interventions in addition to standard DBT. I have seen amazing results in my time with Suffolk DBT and being able to partake in skills group therapy sessions, shadow individual sessions, participate in critical thinking and assessment with licensed team members, and learn the ins-and-outs of DBT skills has been an amazing experience. I will carry these skills with me forever!
