This is a review of my care by doctor Choxi. First some background I'm new to the area and I
have very few contacts in the medical community. However, I am a board-certified plastic
surgeon with 30 years of experience from Southern California, specifically the San Diego area
where we have one of the most skilled groups of surgeons, anesthesiologists and medical
doctors in the country. I was well-connected in both the San Diego and Los Angeles areas. I
decided to move to Miami for the typical reasons that are evident currently.
Unfortunately, I have a history of two major back surgeries. In the past 20 years my back
injuries and surgeries have not limited me in anyway.
So during my move to the Miami area, I injured my back, I underwent an MRI scan, and it
showed substantial changes to my lumbar spine, which was resulting in pain, as well as some
gait disturbance. I consulted with initially an internist who appropriately put me on bed rest,
and we started some medical management with muscle relaxants and short course of steroids.
This management resulted in some improvement, but not enough. Fortunately, my new office
manager was very familiar with Dr. Choxi’s work. She referred me to him and he agreed to take
me on as a patient. Since I've had two prior back surgeries I’m not an easy case to take on as
a pain management specialist.
Initially we had a phone consultation. I found Dr. Choxi to be very thorough as well as
professional, but also collegial and caring. He struck just the right pitch, to be honest.
After discussing my case with him (prior to this, he had already reviewed my surgical history as
well as my current problems), We developed a treatment plan together. he did not overpromise.
He did not say that it would be 100% risk free, or that I would have incredible results. In other
words, he did not sell me a dream. We decided to place exosomes and platelet rich plasma
into the epidural space, as well as in the facet joints. This would be a way to try to get some
limited rehabilitation to the joints, as well as increase the strength of the ligaments in the area.
it's important to note that in an area that has been operated on twice there is a lot of scar
tissue. It makes any further attempts to introduce medication or do surgery much harder. Dr.
Choxi was optimistic, but not without caution. I felt he struck the exactly correct tone to be
hopeful, but not without the idea of failure or limited improvement. On the day of my
appointment, I met with him and he went over the history again and examined me. He made
sure that there were no problems that were going to prevent him doing his procedure. He was
very thorough as well as kind and professional. This was towards the end of his workday, and
he showed no signs of rushing or concern for the time other than to use it wisely . The nurses
at Gentera were also amazing, and they drew my blood to create the platelet rich plasma. Their
facility is not only very nice, but well staffed, and very clean; all things important to a good
result.
I went to the procedure room where Dr. Choxi and his tech were set up to use the flouroscope
to figure out exactly where they could introduce the exosomes and PRP. Again this is not an
easy task. There is a lot of scar tissue in my back and it wasn’t going to be simple to avoid
that and get right into the epidural space. After the usual prep and drape, and then using the
flouroscope to see the anatomy and placing local anesthetic so I would be comfortable, Dr.
Choxi then used the epidural needles that would commonly be used for a woman in labor to
find the epidural space.
It's difficult to describe just how easy he made it seem. I've watched many epidurals placed
since I'm a surgeon. Some people are just not good at it, other people make it look simple. Dr.
Choxi is one of those people who makes it seem incredibly straightforward. You can tell he's
done this many many times. he was able to talk and work at the same time, making sure that I
was comfortable….

Wow! I am so impressed in my recovery. I tore calf muscle where I was informed it'd be around a 6 week recovery. I got PRP injections 2 weeks after my injury. The following week I was able to walk at my normal pace and do some weightlifting. Within 2 weeks, I felt 95% better ( light jogging, normal gym routine, and back to kickboxing). Dr.Ankeet Choxi is the best in the regenerative medicine business. I had an ankle ligament tear after injuring it playing soccer and he injected my ligament with PRP (EmCyte/ Regentxmedical -Joel Suraci-best in the regenerative medicine business as well) and prescribed aggressive Physical therapy with blood flow restriction therapy (which I did at UMiami) which 100% cured my ankle pain. I’m back to running and lifting without pain. He is attentive and always available if I had any questions post-procedure.
