I've been going to this facility for 20 years and have always had a great experience. The staff is friendly and the process from check-in to check-out has always been as smooth as glass. When I've needed to contact them with a question they are always very responsive.

Dr. Stein saw me several times. Told me there was nothing wrong with me. I couldn't keep any food down, couldn't sleep. This went on for two weeks. ( lost 15 lbs in two weeks)Thank God my regular doctor was back from vacation. Took one look at me and said you need to be admitted to the hospital. You are dehydrated and you either have gallbladder disease or ulcers. I went in , they first did a blood draw. Dr Stein came in my room said to my face before I had a colonoscopy. You are wasting your time here. There is nothing wrong with you. Needless to say they found I was full of ulcers in my lower intestine , I had severe ulcerated colitis. I will never forget this and his terrible character as a Doctor.

Dr. Stein, is just remarkable! I've been a patient of his for 23+ years & still find myself in awe of him; his care, compassion, devotion & commitment to his patients. He listens to you, answers any questions you may have & never makes you feel like he's in a rush to move along. This man goes way above & beyond to help you. "A true doctor, who genuinely cares, practicing medicine because helping people is what he loves." His nurse, Jodi, is awesome, as well. She will bend backwards to do anything in her power to help, even if you just need some encouragement, a dose of optimism or a reason to smile. She has come
through for me many many times. To these two angels in disguise, patients are not $$, we're real people in need!

Dr. Barry Stein was my mom's GP for 13 years. For the last three, I have lived with and cared for my mother, whose health was clearly in rapid decline. I called Dr. Stein about a year and a half ago to explain to him just how sick she was, as she had trouble adequately advocating for herself. She was constantly canceling doctor appointments. She couldn't get out of bed. She didn't leave the house for a week at a time--sometimes more. She had zero energy and was in constant pain. I pled with him--in a voicemail--to help me get her to speak with a therapist or a counselor or a social worker. He left his reply on my voicemail: "Samantha, I can't make your mother go to therapy."

In reality, Mom was suffering from severe angina due to massive mitral valve leakage. We didn't find out until it was too late. She died in April 2016 at age 66 after complications from open heart surgery. She never held a grandchild. She never got to see the mountains one last time. To Dr. Stein she was just a disabled old lady. She would tell him "I'm fine" and he'd look at her crippled, 70-lb frame and just accept "fine" as fact. Even knowing her long and complicated history with heart disease. My words fell on deaf ears and now a beautiful woman is dead.

I would never recommend this office to potential patients. The wait time is absurd--in the office--and on the phone to schedule an appointment. The hold music itself will drive a person to contemplate suicide. And don't expect much personal attention as they are rushing people in and out all day long like they're trying to fill quotas. If you have an elderly parent or loved one in the Sarasota area, take them elsewhere for their medical needs.

Dr. Stein is hands down the BEST Doctor around. I can’t say enough amazing things about him. My family and I wouldn’t trust anyone with our health as we do with him.
