Dr Karen East of St Luke’s internal medicine is AMAZING! We always come with so many questions and she is on top of everything. She fully educates us so we leave prepared to take the next steps to continue to grow healthier. I sure hope that she’s been acknowledged by St. Luke’s for her superior service. She literally saved my husband’s life by finding a tumor because she went the extra mile. She saved the life of one of my best friends by identifying and condition she’d been born with, and would’ve passed away within a year without her in dept research. She’s not only Technically exceeds our expectations every time, her patient care is also five stars.

As usual I had a great experience. From the time I walked through door, everyone I talked with was very polite and professional. Dr. Hedemark is awesome, he was truly interested in my health and asked a lot of clarifying questions. I was impressed at the amount of time he spent with me.

Dr. Karen East is a very knowledgeable and thorough Dr.
She explains my needs when I tell her what I’m experiencing she is able to tell me what’s happening and what she recommends for helping me. Even a year later she remembers many things about me I’ve said to her. She is a very lovely person.

Dr Karen East and all of her staff exceed all expectations. They are an awesome team.
They are very kind, thoughtful, genuine skilled professionals. Dr East oversees your care and is certain that you get the best possible medical care that she is able to provide for you.

Dr East also follows through with any other area's that you may require any additional or specialized care.
She is an intelligent, (A Genius according to her college, my previous Dr who retired and hand picked her for me.)
She is beyond capable, an excellent Internal Medicine Physician and though I'm an awful patient, she's a wonderful Physician and treats me very well
.
I'm grateful that she was willing to accept me as a new patient when my Dr of 12 years, her colleague retired. (It was a scary transition for me).

Dr East somehow knows how to make me feel at ease and comfortable, even though I don't like it. She realizes I have a rare complex disease that causes so many other additional health problems with no affective treatment or cure.(All creating so much anxiety and stress and fear.) So many times she just has to believe and trust in me because I'm just an atypical and unusual patient whose scared and uncertain.

Dr. East makes the journey a little less scary by always having the ability to understand how to best help me, when I don't even know myself anymore.

Unrelated, (Her husband took care of my Dad during some of the darkest days our family had ever seen, when my Dad passed from ALS. He had the hardest job of all Dr's, yet did it so honorably and respectfully and our family loved him the most for treating our family with such respect.
It's tough when you have to let a patient make the choice to die or go on life support. None of my Dad's previous Dr's gave him the honor, respect and even had a discussion with him regarding dying.

As his daughter and care taker, losing my Dad was so terribly painful, but our family needed to hear the truth, words that really were never even spoke by any other physician, seems unacceptable to me. Just to be clear, this was 20 years ago and was not St Luke's Hospital.

So many physician's cannot gracefully give that critically important part of a patient's life is also death. The difficult news when truly I think the choice should at the very least be discussed during the illness through their main provider's and not just left for a patient's specialized physician who should have not been given that burden to bear alone. Though he honorably did so.

Sometimes Dr's may forget that part of their job, may include their patients death. Í will never forget the grace and care that he gave to my Dad. I always remember his kindness to my Dad and our family and I knew that my new Dr had also respected him for treating him work the grace and didn't he deserved. (When I realized my new Dr was my Dad's previous Dr's husband, it just gave me a sense of comfort.)

My Deepest Gratitude to all the wonderful physicians, nurses, care givers and other staff of Dr Karen East at St Luke's Eagle Internal Medicine Clinic..

I have experienced the other side of the coin and it's just awful and as a nurse myself has caused me grief, anxiety, info stress and really even fear during those moments. I'm proud to say that I'm a lucky one and recognize it. I wouldn't recommend a physician who mistreated me or any other that I was aware of.

What I do know though is if you have both a great Dr whose also great with the bedside manners department, you better hold on to your Dr and be grateful! (Think it's a pretty rare find these days)

Sincerely,
Lisa P
