I have been seeing Dr Zia since 2017. Every single visit I would see her smile. I felt safe with her as I have severe anxiety and trusted her when I needed her most. She had a receptionist named Claudia and another named Layla. They were wonderful! THEN...along came 'Barbara.' Not particularly a nice girl. She often bad-mouthed the previous receptionist. So I drive a 45 minute drive for a visit to have 'Barbara' tell me I owe $63. I knew I owed my co-pay which I have paid EVERY time. But this time she told me I had a balance of $33 also. I knew that was not right so I called Aetna from the waiting room. They said they didn't think Dr Zia was 'in network' any longer but they would re-submit the $33 bill for payment. The receptionist informed me that I would NOT be allowed to see Dr Zia until I paid even though the bill was being re-submitted. So I left. Flash forward a month later. I called to see if Barbara had received payment. The office is a PART-TIME office only. Barbara called me back after 3 days of trying to reach her at which point she said they would not be seeing me anymore. I was in SHOCK. No warning. No explanation. Not right. I went in to see Dr Zia as I did not trust the receptionist to ask the Dr to call me. But when I went in to see her, the smile was GONE. She went on to say I should have paid the $33. So I guess I was a bad girl and dismissed for that reason. I paid the $33. Mind you, I had NEVER gotten a bill for the $33 so I'm not sure where it came from. Certainly I had no reason to believe they would object to me asking Aetna to re-submit it especially since I had gotten no bill. I had always been so pleasant to the receptionist. She was INCREDIBLE at decorating the office at the holidays and I told her every chance I got. I also even told Dr Zia how awesome her decor was!!! So you can imagine how shocked I was to see that she was dropping me as a patient!!! I now see on her reviews that she has done that to other patients. I would have never believed that of Dr Zia. I never felt the need to check her reviews. I came home and cried the whole day and night. I have filed a complaint with the Pasco County Board of Medicine because this blatantly WRONG! This has triggered me something terrible. I am more HURT than ANGRY, although I should be both! Everytime I came into her office, I asked Dr Zia about her children. EVERY TIME! But over $33, I saw a different side of her today! I would advise anyone that is deciding who to see, she is wonderful, until she isn't. I don't feel a Mental Health Professional should be able to just up and desert their patient like that. My husband is very concerned as I am VERY heartbroken. Mostly because I just don't understand. ALL OVER $33! I have a daughter with Pancreatic Cancer, another daughter with Esophageal cancer. A husband with Stage 4 liver disease and Myasthenia Gravis and a 94 year old Mom in the nursing home. Plus an 11 year old dog that is sick. I am 70 years old. I am not going to forget this. This kind of treatment is NOT acceptable. Not for a Mental Health provider! I know this is a LONG review but I tried to report as much as possible. Feel free to write me back and I will provide more info. But I just hate to see anyone go what I have gone through today. ~Page 1

I thought Dr. Zia was great at first. She has limited hours, so those of us with full-time jobs it's Challenging at times to keep an appointment. I did cancel several times, but was willing to pay the fee and reschedule. I got a new job and she said let's wait 3 months until an appointment for insurance. May 20th rolls around and I wake up with a broken tooth and a nerve exposed. The pain was intense. I called her first thing in the morning to reschedule. I had a note from the dentist as well. I called for 2 weeks with no response. Finally she had her receptionist call and say she was dropping me from the practice. I suffer from severe anxiety. She could have given me two weeks notice but didn't bother. I looked it up and with another opinion its called patient abandonment and in psychiatry a form of malpractice. I can't get into any new doctor's in two weeks and I'm almost out of medicine which could land me in a hospital. She didn't give me any notice let alone 30 days. She is not putting the patients needs first. To leave someone without a lifeline is by far one of the cruelest things a doctor can do. She took what I now call the hypocritical oath.

Only available during office hours. No provisions for off hours care. You are directed to call 911. Not open to discussing alternative options to medications when the side effects of prescribed medications are detrimental to the patient's well being. Rather than discuss an alternative to a medication that causes suicidal ideation, impaired memory and increased risk of falling, Dr. Zia decided it was in her best interest to dismiss the patient. It's only a part-time practice.
