I recently ended up going to the ER at Sarasota Memorial. I am from Michigan so I had no expectations whatsoever only hope I would receive good care. I have to say I have never in my life been in a hospital for several days while going through the testing, the waiting, the surgery, recovery and aftercare and without exception been treated so well. I wish I had written down the names of all of these fantastic individuals! Even the young people who transported me through the hospital for testing couldn’t have been kinder. Asking if I needed anything, a warm blanket, anything! Whatever you are doing at this hospital keep up the great work! You are all making a difference in others lives! Thank you so very much!!

I'm sorry I don't remember the Dr's. name, but she was wonderful. I didn't have to wait too long to be seen. The Dr. took the time to find me an eye Dr. and that got me in to see him the next day. I had a hemorrhage behind my eye. I was nervous about it, the Dr. made me feel at ease. It was a good experience. I wish I could remember her name...it was something like Victoria. She was very good.
Great beside manner.

From the directions on how to prepare for my MRI to the reception at the facility to being greeted by the Technician Mike, through the procedure and wrap up it was a very pleasant and thorough experience obviously by very competent people. I’m an Engineer and after the MRI I had a bunch of questions to Mike on the necessary of the noise and he took the time to update me on the Machines and the various types and further impressed me with his time. All good and would definitely go again.

The university branch of Sarasota memorial hospital does a great job at no appointment blood draws. Thay went out of their way to find my doctor's order for the van draw. It had gone to the downtown office. They are very efficient and nice to deal with. Thank you for your good service

I have to say SMH is my hospital. I gave birth to my son there. I remember walking out of a hospital during the pandemic because the other hospital said to my chief complaint ā€œ Oh, that’s just a bug biteā€ Well, no, I don’t feel like it was a bug bite so I came to SMH and it was cellulitis instead of a bug bite. The most painful thing I have had on my actual body. Besides that I came in Monday on St. Patrick’s Day, the valet was a Nightmare. I almost got hit by Someone that decided they wanted to get in front of me and the valet just looked at me, Took that person and had me just sit there and wait until they were ready. I walk in the ER and everyone else else’s professional like usual it’s not busy from what I’m used to seeing…. And then I get called back. The male nurse was incredible. I will say. I honestly wish he would’ve just done my exam instead of the doctor. I’m sorry I can’t remember what his name is but he literally listen to me. Breathe for 15 seconds. He didn’t look in my ears. He didn’t look in my throat and he didn’t look into my nose. He didn’t check my glands to if they were swollen. I had said verbatim to the doctor ā€œ I have tested positive for strep in the past 6-8 months And I have not felt as sick as I am todayā€ And his Rebuttal? ā€œ Oh yeah, if you had strep throat, you would be much sicker than you are right nowā€ OK, that makes sense right? Cause you can tell someone has strep throat by just staring at them. I’m sorry that I had to come into the ER. But here I am two weeks later and three days after my visit not only am I sicker than I was when I came in Monday, but the second portion of my visit was my face bleeding from a cherry angioma for over two weeks That will not heal still, and is bleeding profusely at times. The doctors rebuttal to what do I do about this is… ā€œ Oh yeah, you’re gonna have to see a dermatologist for thatā€ Right well I understand that, but I am here because of the profuse bleeding. He walked in the room and there was blood running all over my face. I am so sad because of that visit. As far as I know, I just had a Covid test. I honestly was so sick. I don’t really remember him saying what I did or didn’t have besides a ā€œvirusā€ Which seems pretty vague to me, but OK why am I not getting better again? I will say the male nurse was amazing and gave me great advice but I feel like as a doctor in the ER? You need to take your scopes and look in the nose and look in the ears and look inside the throat! I’ve never had a visit where they don’t do a actual visit if that makes any sense. Listen to me breathe For 15 seconds doesn’t do anything. Because if the Dr would’ve listened Maybe three minutes later, I was wheezing coughing. And now coughing up lovely dark green. And I am struggling to get ready for work very confused and frustrated why I Feel a little short changed from that visit and why my face is still bleeding and I cannot just waltz into a dermatologist office because they want. I don’t know a lot of money to get this profuse bleeding to stop? Two weeks of bleeding from my face? Yeah, I think I’m gonna give this visit one star. I put four stars above because I love SMH so much and this is my first bad encounter with your usually wonderful ER. Sorry for the long rant, but I am so sick two weeks later and I don’t know what to do.
Thank you,
Danielle

My first day and night were very difficult at SMH with my recent emergency stay for a broken hip and pelvis. The difficulty had to do with the lack of care and callousness shown toward me by one nurse in particular . After being in the ER for 10 hrs waiting for a room, once I was admitted and moved to trauma the nurse was snippy and uncaring. I asked for a blanket- it was freezing and she said they didn’t have any and proceeded to put two cold sheets over me. I said the bed was very uncomfortable and she told me that if they were comfortable patients would want to stay longer. I asked to see the Doctor and she said they didn’t make house calls and walked out! I did complain about this nurse and was promised I wouldn’t have her again - which I didn’t and I was grateful for that! After that the care improved and I have few complaints.

My recent experience with the radiology department was a mixed bag. The check-in process was not good. They lost my orders from my doctor and they did not have the approval for my insurance company on file even though my insurance company had already submitted the approvals which I was able to confirm with them so I had to do a lot of the legwork involved and actually getting the test done That being said the radiologist at the hospital was excellent and thorough and very kind in dealing with my physical imitations as I’m getting ready to have back surgery, the wait time was very Short If not for the paperwork issues, I would have given them an excellent rating overall

In spite of the fact that I had to wait for 2 hrs because the MRI schedule was behind and when I was finally called I was NOT in a good mood. BUT, my overall experience was very good.

This was ENTIRELY due to the lady who administered the MRI:
MS NADINE.

Nadine was amazing. Apologetic but very personable, friendly n efficient. I have NOTHING but praise for this lady. I would appreciate it if you could pass on this message to her n give her a very warm thank you. Without her the experience of waiting almost 2 hrs ( from 2pm to almost 4 pm ) could have been a disaster.

Please also thank the reception lady in the waiting room at the time. She was also very kind n attentive to me.
