On the 15th of April , 2025 due to a very high heat rate, I was
admitted to Salinas Valley Medical Center. The last time I had been at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (old title) I gave birth
to my daughter Elizabeth. It was St. Patrick's Day, 1970. I need
to honor my obstetrician Dr. Robert Klinefelter with a few words. He was sure that Elizabeth was going to be a St. Patricks Day baby and he was all smiles as he announced her
arrival at 1:30am that special St. Patrick"s Day. Sadly, Dr Klinefelter was killed in a accident a few months after Elizabeth
was born and here today, I want to acknowledge him. He was
a lovely man and a very, very good doctor. He would be amazed
to see how much Salinas Valley Health has grown and how famous it has become. I remember the good and caring attention Elizabeth and I received back then at Salinas Valley
Center. Elizabeth, is proud that she was born in this hospital.
Years fly by and after being away from the area, I moved back
a few years ago. Salinas is much bigger now than it was back
in 1968. I remember as we drove into the town of Salinas that
January evening, I looked at a sign that said "Salinas". population 66,000. I remember it so well because, that was the
population of my home City, Cork back in Ireland, the previous
year as I was leaving it, to come to California. I marveled at
the coincidence of it and realized what a small country, Ireland
is but of course in my eyes "mighty".
Now, down to thanking the doctors and nurses, technicians, the
woman from the kitchen, the valets in the parking lot. Kudos and genuine gratitude to all of them. My three day stay at now a sprawling and well regarded hospital in the area and
the nation, was like a three day holiday. Even though, my heart
rate was of concern, it was being monitored and gradually going down. I received so much attention and never for a moment felt neglected. Dr. Jordan, the attending heart surgeon
came to check on me twice and lifted my spirits. He is young,
and bright and caring and he reminds me of my doctor who had
just performed a colonoscopy not long before. He and Dr. Fiorenza are both dedicated to their chosen field of medicine and a lot of patients
will be helped by them as they go about the job of healing. I don't have all the names of the nurses for this review
but for sure, the head of the hospital will have all of them very
soon. In the meantime, I hope they will know how much they
were appreciated and how I actually missed them when I came
home. I hope this review will at least in part convey my gratitude to everyone there at Salinas Valley Care. May all the
doctors, nurses, technicians and every member of the staff in
all categories be proud of what they do. At 85 years old, I have
seen a lot and been in hospital in 3 different countries. Salinas
Valley Care can hold its head high. May it, and all who work there, be safe and secure. I forgot to mention the camaraderie and friendship displayed by the nurses to each other. It was so
nice to see that.
Again, if anyone that should have been in this review does not
think they are part of it, please know that you are. I have not forgotten a single person who crossed my path during my time
at Salinas Valley Care-
With regards,
Rose Flanagan

The staff and doctors were kind, and fast paced but looked through all possibilities of what you may have going on. Waiting room was clean and quiet. Love the security check up front for safety reasons. 10/10.

I broke my foot yesterday afternoon and had to go to the emergency room. They got me a wheelchair right away and the triage people were so nice! Everyone I encountered working there was exceedingly kind. From the x ray tech who offered me a blanket to the people who made my cast to the wonderful lady who taught me how to use my new crutches. I struggle with anxiety, but I felt at ease because of the people working there.

Emergency services are outside in a tent. ⛺️ I don’t understand why the emergency check in is outside in the rain. What is going on here? This is embarrassing!

Whoever working at the emergency room today. Sunday Dec.8th at 12:00 pm. You are contributing to the problem in the health care system. You and your rules over not being able to be with your loved ones in the room with them, it is the stupidest rule ever. And to top if off the manners and the condescending attitude from the front desk/tent/ whatever you want to call it. No empathy whatsoever. This hospital has been one of my least favorite but after today, you are at the bottom of them all.

Service, service, service. From the moment we walked in to the bedside treatment, to the staff communication, and the genuine concern for comfort and patient best interest. Our experience has to be the best we’ve ever experienced. My wife and I are so impressed with the care and treatment that we can’t express enough our appreciation. My wife received the best care and they were so courteous to me. This is how to make an unpleasant proposition in to a wonderful experience. And this is how to deal with a husbands anxiety. Thank you to all the staff.
