Understaffed. Horrible food. Dirty. Lack of communication. The only redeeming quality is the rehab staff. They were fantastic. There were a couple good CNA's but they were also responsible for delivering meals and picking up meal trays. We had to hire outside home healthcare because we were worried about my Aunt's safety. She was discharged over a month ago and we still do not have discharge papers after leaving many messages. If you care about your loved one do not take them to Ridgecrest.

If you are a fan of your loved ones being alive, then do not let them get sent to this place!! Odds are, they won't get better, and might even die because of it. I recently had a loved one staying here after a hospital stay due to an infection. He went in once the hospital felt that he had improved to the point that they could discharge him. He went into this rehab facility completely coherent, awake, and good spirits. Within a few days, we noticed that he was lethargic, and then and another couple of days he became completely incoherent, and basically unconscious. When we questioned the staff, we were told that he was being given Ativan due to being "combative." What? Let me be clear that NEVER ONCE, in any hospital, or facility, that he has ever been in, has he ever been accused of being combative. Not once. Yet this facility had him so drugged up that he couldn't even sit up, let alone eat or drink. Let me reiterate that he was perfectly fine, alert and active, when he went into this place. After they kept him in this condition for several days, without him eating or drinking and no IV given or offered, his condition continued to deteriorate, at which point we requested that the medication be stopped and that he be discharged into our care. Once home, he became more lucid and coherent, but quickly that went downhill and we had to call an ambulance. At the hospital, it was discovered that his kidneys had built up severe toxicity from being severely dehydrated while in this facility. At the hospital, he was given medication and IV fluids, and within 12 hours was sitting up, eating on his own, and in good spirits. I decided to look up the reviews for this rehab center, because I've heard about places like this keeping residents drugged so they didn't have to do their jobs and take care of them, I figured there would probably be some other reviews if that were the case. And sure enough, I found review after eview of people saying that their relatives were drugged and kept basically unconscious while they were there, for no reason. Most of those reviews were from former patients or family members, but I even found two that were from former staff members claiming that the residents are drugged for no reason. One of the reviews written by a relative sounded like the exact same situation that happened to us. She said that her mother mysteriously lost 10 lb while in that place and was given sedation for no reason whatsoever, and almost died due to dehydration. It was literally the very first review that I came across. Wow. On top of that, there is review after review on Google with people complaining about theft, having their belongings stolen, packages which mysteriously disappear and are never delivered to residents etc. at this place. You can look it up for yourself, it's all on Google reviews. Complaints about call buttons never being answered, pain medications never being administered, and I found three or four reviews talking about roaches. Again, you can look it up for yourself. Roaches and theft are one thing, but without a doubt, this place nearly killed my relative. Without a doubt. We're talking about someone who lives alone, still drives, and other than the previous infection is otherwise healthy. Yet he went to this place to "recover and rehabilitate" and nearly died, from dehydration and starving? Even the healthiest person on the planet will die without fluids!! No doubt he would have died if we hadn't taken him home when we did. Hospital agrees. How is this being allowed to happen? How are their hundreds and HUNDREDS of horrible reviews for this place, yet they're still open? None of the complaints were about the rehab services in particular, it was all about the actual caregivers and Hands-On nursing staff. I saw several different people giving compliments to the one and only nurse that seems to care, whose name was Eddie. Maybe they should make him the director and things will change. But as of now, this place is a literal DEATH SENTENCE, and when I say literal, I mean literally a death sentence.

I have a dear friend who had a stroke that went to Ridgecrest for his rehab for many weeks. He really liked the care he received from staff. His room was clean and well kept on our visits with him. The food looked very appealing. He enjoyed the peacocks that freely roams around the grounds.

My mom was at Ridgecrest for over a month at the beginning of 2024. The staff was caring and the physical therapists were top-notch (the improvement was noticeable quickly - struck the right balance of pushing her to succeed while listening to her concerns). Rooms were clean and well-maintained. The team there also helped navigate the insurance process to get her the care she needed, and involved her appropriately in the decision-making. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to family member visits. Highly recommend given our experience.

Unfortunately I must report a terrible experience with this facility while my mother was there for a week and I had to remove her with severe dehydration and acute kidney injury after experiencing untreated diarrhea. She was also malnourished because she couldn't eat.

Throughout the week, I discussed her condition with 2 nurses and the nutritionist.

Even though someone was cleaning her poop 4 x per day and watching her eat and drink almost nothing, the Director of Nursing said she didn't know about the diarrhea and blamed my mom for refusing physical therapy.

This is unacceptable when dealing with physically and mentally compromised 79 year old people.

No one asked how my mom was, no one said they understood or were sorry.

My husband called the day I removed her and asked them to gather her things (which were clearly spelled out on an inventory sheet we completed upon registration).
The next morning it took 45 min. of scrambling and looking all over the facility to find her belongings (which I left in her room). Still, I did not get back a few things on the inventory sheet because I was so exhausted and stressed, rather by them at WalMart.

Very disappointing when I really needed help in facilitating my mom's recovery, and the neglect made her worse. She was literally starving to death. If I hadn't removed her, hospital Dr. said she could've died. He also said they should've re admitted her to hospital after a couple of days of the diarrhea.

In my mind this is a big problem with TRAINING and inter organizational communication.

I feel for the out of state families who cannot advocate for their loved ones.

If your loved one goes here, keep close tabs on them and SPEAK UP!

The lack of compassion, responsibility, human care and accountability is criminal. This is what they get paid for.

I only expected them to do their job, and if they couldn't they could call me and at least give me a chance to make another choice.

It's a shame. I'm so 😞 sorry.
I write this as I sit here with my mom in the hospital knowing she may not recover from this trauma to her fragile system.

Tough decsion to give it such high rating. Those 4 starts are all for the nurisng and PT staff as they are great . The food was always cold , she lost 20 pds there. Social Services can't think outside the box. My worst complaint , is discharge. They were supposed to make sure she was set up for nursing and PT and home. It has been a week and nothing. However, mom saw her Dr today and got her hooked up.

My mom recently spent almost 3 weeks in this facility doing as much therapy as she was physically able to do. The food could’ve been a little better according to my dad but mom isn’t a very big eater anyway so it was ok. The staff were great.and you can tell they all care about their patients. It’s obvious that they are busy and there is a lot of people that need their help and attention but everything that mom and dad needed they did with a smile. Therapy was great also. Overall we would definitely go back if mom or dad ever need rehab again
