This is now Blue Pearl Emergency and Specialty Vets. One of their doctors, Dr Debra Rackear, saved my dog Guapo's life! They open 23/7/365 days.

If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. I am very disappointed in their "compassionate" work towards pets. If you have a pet that needs an emergency, please go elsewhere. I took my 3 year old cocker spaniel to this establishment about 3 weeks ago. All she had was a stomach ache from food that was backed up. Which was what they told me was happening to her. Instead of giving her something to loosen her bowel movements, they gave her an injection for the pain. They charged me $800 just to tell me that, and left me going home without anything else for her. They even wanted to keep her in for observation at a t 3k cost... for being backed up (Shady) The next morning, she was paralyzed from the waist down! I called to let them know of the situation but they rudely told me that it was a new symptom she was experiencing and that they would have to see her again for an additional cost. My poor girl was in pain, and did not make it. She passed away a couple of days after this incident. We went to another vet where they told us that the injection given to her might have caused a severe reaction to her. DO NOT come here under any circumstances!

First I smelled skunk outside tonight. Then my neighbor came by frantic with her dog in the car. The dog was having seizures and foaming at the mouth. She said that she was going to drive to Marina. We're in Moss Landing.
I told her that I would google a 24hr vet. Pet Specialists were the closest to us. I sent her a pin for direction and called and talked to Stephanie, letting her know that my neighbor was on the way.
After her visit, my neighbor called and said that the dog had been sprayed in the mouth. They took her and pup outside, saline, washed mouth and gave her instructions and sent her home with out charge! She was so relieved and grateful.
Thank you so much Pet Specialist!!!!!You're the best ever!

I told my friend to go to walmart on the way home and get a kennel.
Mine dog loves his kennel and feels safe in the car and bed at night. That it would be good especially after this incident to put him in the other room after bath, get some good rest.

Again- Thank you Pet Specialist for being there at all hours in an emergency and for the excellent care and more!!!

We had to put our Maxi down after 14 years of faithful doggy service. The staff was extremely attentive and compassionate. The Dr. was super attentive, walking us through the entire time and comforting Max as well even after he was gone. I cannot say enough about how appreciative I am. Max was a 90 lb lab mix. He could no longer walk. They had nurses come to help him onto a gurney from the back of my car and told us exactly what would happen. The whole experience was heartbreaking but they treated us with dignity and compassion all the way through. I can't thank them enough for helping us through this. I highly recommend to anyone.

I just took my aged cat to Pet Specialists with most likely bacterial pneumonia. These folks are super good about hygiene, immediately taking us to a room to wait, and not letting the cat sit in the waiting room while I paid the bill. After a little over than a hour (no appointment), a competent Vet saw us and recommended treatment, noticing the heart murmur we knew about. I hope things go well with my cat. I have to say that I was impressed by the quality of care here, the Vet, the hygiene, etc. And the "emergency" clinic was not at a price that was above and beyond a normal vet visit.

Our dog recently came down with a serious illness, which unfortunately progressed quickly and she ended up being put down. We went to Pet Specialists for the original diagnosis, the follow up appointment, and her euthanasia. The entire staff, from reception to doctors were kind, courteous, and thoughtful during this incredibly stressful and sad time. I highly recommend their services to anyone who wants the best and complete care for their beloved pets.

With two pets in crisis over a three week period, I have turned over my heart and soul to Pet Specialists. The outcome for one is not written yet, but the other is happy and at home. A person will blanche at the cost but frankly, there is value in that cost; from the front desk staff, to the nursing care, to the vets. With their policy of spelling out all costs, one can make an informed decision. Most important, I wish they could know how grateful I am for their kindness, patience, and professionalism in how they continue to deal with me. I have owned and raised many, many dogs over the years and none of this vet stuff gets easier. I trust and know the pet care at Pet Specialists is stellar, but from my side of the crate door, the human care is over the moon. Thank you.

Pet Specialists of Monterey charged us almost $200 an something they didn't fix. Took my pet to another vet & they found the problem right away.

They don't let you come back into the exam room with your pet, so I'm not sure they did anything. She had a very large foxtail stuck in her eye, but they did not look closely (if at all, since I wasn't able to be back with my pet to verify) and there it stayed. Took her to another vet and they found it in seconds! It's a shame I can't rate zero stars.

We took her to the vet on June 25th, they didn't look very well because they didn't find it (requiring a second visit while wasting our family's money). Not to mention our pup being in serious discomfort for longer than necessary.

•Pet Specialists of Monterey (my first visit for my pet):
-presenting complaint: poss foxtail in left eye
-problem list: swelling appears resolved currently
-diagnostics: ...proparacaine OS - eye sweep, no foreign body detected
-assessment: conjunctivitis OS with history of swelling this am (swelling currently resolved)

•VCA Ocean View Animal Hospital (my second visit):
-eyes: OS ... large foxtail stuffed above globe of left eye--pointed end is stuck in the bulbar conjunctival!!
