If you live in the Bay Area, Palo Alto Medical Foundation clinic in Daly City (Sutter Health), unlike Kaiser Permante or UCSF, is not a place for medical tests or diagnosis and treatments, beyond routine checkups. Many medical services are spread out requiring me to drive to Palo Alto, Burlingame, San Mateo and San Carlos.

Sometimes hard-to-set-up appointments are cancelled on a short notice with an excuse saying that there is a conflict on a doctor’s schedule on a Friday afternoon. Really? Additional unnecessary and redundant visits were required because medical assistants or nurses did not communicate with the family physician properly.

My transfer request for medical records from the previous clinic to Sutter Health took four months, delayed by a misplaced signed transfer form by the record department. Many follow up requests fell on deaf ears. After the transfer was made finally, my family physician did not go through the records diligently which resulted in multiple duplicate immunization shots.

For the last ten months I have spoken over 30 times with medical and office staff for various issues most of which were simple matters that should have been taken care of as routine tasks but they have been dealt with ill-trained and inexperienced employees.

A revisit to the clinic to provide new lab sample for misplaced one, poor communication with my pharmacist and mishandled insurance claims were just few examples of misfortune I had to endure.

I am not sure if I will rely on such a disorganized system and operation in the future. I feel sad to see this health institution is losing touch with people and their health needs as they put an emphasis on physical businesses growth.

Since my posting 3,209 viewers have read my review. Finally I switched to KP for future medical needs, and I am happy with my decision.

The laboratory front staf are really rude and unprofessional. There are long wait times of an hour or more just to do sple laboratory work. Wow...this is the worst Sutter health in the peninsula I've been to. Daly City is a very populated area you would think they would have a top customer service, more staff to handle patients, and be organized! Avoid this place!

Doctors and nurses were super nice and the phlebotomists are so friendly. They're need more time for busying at the laboratory. Sometimes. Not so much long less than 30 minutes waiting.

I guess I should read review before I come. Doctor appointment got canceled by the physician too due to bs reason. Stay away from this place.

Doctors have done an amazing job. They are nice and very helpful. I definitely recommend it.
