BEWARE! I had a deeply concerning experience with Palm Beach Gardens Recovery Primary Therapist Steve Adlen that questions both the integrity of his business and this facility as a whole.

When we first met, Steve sent me a very detailed plan for our therapy and outlined goals for me to achieve. He kept telling me to text or email him during the week between sessions if anything came up.

As soon as I paid Steve, though ($600 for 8 sessions), his demeanor completely changed. He stopped answering emails and rescheduled multiple appointments with less than a few hours’ notice on the morning of the appointments. Another time, Steve was on the road driving during our session.

The only homework he gave me after four sessions with him was I need to look in the mirror once a day and say “I love myself.” I outlined my concerns of our lack of progress to Steve and politely asked him to discotinue our therapy. I asked if I could receive some sort of partial refund for the four sessions we still hadn’t completed.

To my great surprise, Steve began sending personal insults based on things we’d discussed DURING OUR SESSIONS:

“Your true colors are starting to show through and I can see why you’re having trouble navigating life.”

“I should have known what kind of character you had.”

“Aren’t you the guy that was just complaining about…”

“I hope you figure out your financial issues because they seem to be casting a shadow over the rest of your life.”

“With all due respect, I really don’t care about your opinion.”

This was the most shocking and unprofessional experience I’ve ever had in any kind of therapy, and I would strongly encourage anyone looking for help to stay far away from Steve Adlen and PBG Recovery. Steve will use your own conversation during therapy sessions against you to justify his inappropriate behavior down the line.

If Steve or the business refutes any part of my review, I have our full thread of text messages and emails that prove everything outlined above.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Would’ve left 3 stars if it weren’t for the complete lack of respect for people who leave this program and weird secrecy going on between owners & clients. I came here with high hopes of it being a good balance between my recovery, therapy & groups, & work. I will say They are very flexible with work schedules, but with that being said if you work full time you will have pretty much no therapy. I was told they had trauma therapy but I was not introduced or asked to have a session with a therapist the whole month I was there. The owner also allowed me to do MMJ (medical marijuana) but asked me to tell no one. It was obvious that this wasn’t allowed and no other staff members were made aware that he told us we could do this. Which was just a bit strange to me. And forcing us to keep it a secret felt like addict behavior. So once I was ready to leave this place, I was completely honest with them about what happened and let them know we needed to come pick up our belongings. I asked them specifically to allow ME to pack my things and put my valuables where they needed to be as I just felt more secure that way and they agreed to let me do so. That was a complete lie and they decided to throw all of my belongings into trash bags. Even when I had luggage to put them in. Nothing was even semi organized. Just threw anything they could find into 3 trash bags. Multiple belongings of mine now have damage, hair products spilled all on clothes because these people have no respect it seems like for clients stuff. Literally looked like they just stuffed things in there with no regard even after I told them to not do that. Oh as well as female clients being harassed by males! (ie men coming into a females room attempting to rip her blanket off) Hope this helps!

I am so happy to see Jimmy Kane opening a new recovery center. He has gone out of his way numerous times to help my family and many other families to get their loved ones the help they need to get family members sober and and drug free. He knows the pain and agony families go through because he is also a recovering addict and has lived it. If anyone is struggling with addiction or knows someone that is don’t hesitate to call or visit Palm Beach Gardens Recovery to get the help you need because Jimmy and his staff care.

4 years ago my son was in a coma in the hospital Jimmy Kane came everyday to sit with me and gave me so much support. last week my son found himself struggling once again. he called Jimmy with in minutes Jimmy had him picked up and got him into treatment. Jimmy cares about helping families he has checked in on myself and my sons wife!

I completely have the outmost respect, trust and appreciation for Jimmy and his dedication to the one’s struggling as well as their loved ones.

Thank you Jimmy!

I cannot say enough good things about this place and about Jimmy Kane. He’s made it possible for my husband struggling with addiction to receive quality care while being mindful and respectful of our budget. He has saved my family and given us hope again. I am forever grateful for this place and for Jimmy.

The owners are amazing , they treat you with dignity and respect. I was treated as a human being that's struggling with addiction. First day they ensured that I met as many other recovering addicts as possible. The environment is comfortable and welcoming in their sober living. It feels like a home!!! If you know someone or you are in need of help please reach out to Palm Beach Gardens Recovery where they treat you as a person not just another junkie!!
They care!!!!

I have been an addict for over 35 years and ive been to about 6 detoxes, 5 halfway houses and 30 years in prison. Jimmy kane has helped me alot over the years. I always failed. And jimmy was always there to pick me up and help me try again. But since he told me to follow his direction and i can get sober. I have been following the plan he has laid out for me. Im sober four years and three months and feel great. I never thought it possible. But Jimmy showed me the way that works. I listen to his direction and thats what keeps me sober. Thank you Thomas Hickey
