I first started going to One Medical in 2010 and have unfortunately witnessed its decline firsthand over the years. The decline has definitely accelerated with Amazon taking over. Over the last couple of years in particular I've experienced rude and indifferent staff, medical staff making unsupported diagnoses, untrained staff, and now overcharging. If you go here, ask for a clear understanding of what you will be charged before your appointment and reject any ad-hoc discussions or treatment. It's disturbing that you have to take this approach with a medical provider, which is why I would suggest going elsewhere as I have done.

30min checkup cost $772. Insurance paid $230. I was left with a bill for $535. Do not trust these people. You will pay $535 (after insurance) for a 30min conversation.

I messaged One Medical through their app, and they were completely unable to help me at all. They couldn’t even provide an itemized receipt or tell me when is due date for the bill. They couldn’t even get me in contact with the office responsible for the bill. I called their customer service. They were unable to help me, and I felt mocked as if I should expect to pay prices like these.

One Medical is doing unbelievable harm to the trust that we should be able to have in our medical system. I’ve lost the ability to trust doctors in America.

The healthcare staff who I've interacted with at this facility are lovely, but OneMedical's billing department is incompetent.

OneMedical told me that my insurance would cover a very routine primary care visit that lasted <20 minutes, then submitted a $700 claim that my insurance did not, in fact, want to cover. When I asked OneMedical about this, they stated that they had made a small mistake, and all they had to do was resubmit the claim so that my insurance would cover it. But according to my insurance, the claim has not been correctly resubmitted. It has been 5 months since my visit, and OneMedical still has not been able to resolve this apparent billing error, despite the fact that I have contacted them numerous times by phone and by app inquiring about it. Every time I ask about this claim, I am reassured by some OneMedical representative that the claim is being taken care of, but any contact with my insurance shows that not to be the case. I truly regret the day I signed up to use OneMedical-- the day I committed myself to a $700 bill for a primary care visit that OneMedical will not take any responsibility for. I think that bill goes to collections soon, which is exciting. Save yourself the stress and don't bother with this place, unless you want to gamble on paying hundreds of dollars for a single primary care visit due to OneMedical's sheer incompetence.

I love One Medical. Stopped in with an ear ache and I appreciated how they took time to listen to my concerns and check everything out internally!

Went to see a PA for a routine (less than 30 min) appointment. She billed my insurance $815 for the visit, which seems incredibly high and meant that after running it through insurance over $440 was my responsibility. No heads up at any point before the visit that it would be that pricey. I called the billing department and politely asked if they could reduce the amount owed. The person I spoke with was very rude, kept repeating that I needed to contact my insurance company, and when I asked to speak to a manager, said the manager would refuse my call. Not the type of service I expected from a “concierge” medical practice.

One Medical business practices cost me over $1000 out of pocket for a single visit. They will make recommendations for treatment to you without explaining the potential out of pocket cost, and you’ll only find out later when you receive a massive bill. I recommend finding literally any other doctor.

And I expect they’ll respond to this review by saying “I understand your frustration (with a warm smile) but it’s the patient’s responsibility”… so be aware of that when visiting here. They will not look out for you as the patient. They will not advise you as to potentially huge costs. They leave it to you to investigate (what, mid-visit?) with your insurance company to understand the cost of your visit and treatment. Please learn from my mistake of trusting this company.

UPDATE: As predicted, the office manager responded (after posting a response to this review and then deleting it) by saying that they “always encourage their patients to check with their insurance provider” and then cited a link that was sent to me in their messaging app which was buried in about five pages worth of random information about vaccines. In the link itself it included a bunch of insurance codes, with no reference to actual costs. So there you have it, as stated above, it’s on you the patient to do your own research on your own time about every treatment because they will not help you or advise as to high costs (aside from posting obscure links in a barrage of other information). This is how corporate chain “healthcare” works. Live and learn.

I went in to check on a pain in my foot. The NP did not know what the pain was, so sent me to do an xray in another One Medical office (this one did not have an xray). That xray came back inconclusive, and instead the NP referred me to a podiatrist. For the ineffective 15 minute visit, the NP billed me $549, which doesn't even include the $230 for the foot xray. Don't forget, I also pay them $199 a year for the privilege.
