Medical staff are not professionals at all,
Don’t even think doctors will see you at your appointment time.
Late, always late ,
Just insane.

“I had an extremely frustrating experience with this call center. After waiting on hold for over an hour, I was finally connected to a representative named Taa, who was unprofessional and yelled at me. I was seeking help for severe headaches from high blood pressure and felt dismissed and disrespected. This level of service is unacceptable.”

I have had probaly the worst healthcare red tape experience of my life with these people. As others have said, no one helps, no one knows the cockamamie processes they have set up. As a new patient I tried to see someone about a physical injury for almost a month before I gave up on their clinic. The few minutes I spent with a nurse practitioner were great but since he could not give a referral, ultimately useless and a waste of time. They are here to get the medi-cal money and that is the extent of their interest in your health. Do not use this clinic, stay far away. And do not for any reason expect to get help from their call center which seems to have more emoloyees shielding you from care than they have healthcare professionals in the clinic itself.

My mother-in-law has had nothing but great service from the people here. Her doctors and nurses have all treated her with respect and kindness. Some of the support staff however need to smile more. It's hard enough for the sick to wait patiently, so having people in the front that smile and check in every so often, to assure them that they will be seen, can do wonders. Some do a great job at this, others seem oblivious to the waiting room.

I have been coming to this health center for almost 6 years now and have had no issues with any of the staff or doctors, until I was assigned to
Dr. Kaitlyn Krauss, which has been a complete nightmare. I have joint pain in my hands and back pain due to arthritis, which has been confirmed with an X-ray that I received two months ago. The nurse called me and asked if I wanted to get an injection to relieve the pain, and I agreed. I waited for a month for this appointment, and when the day had finally come, Dr. Krauss proceeded to inform me that I would be getting the injection in my knee. I was confused by this, since the pain is in my hands, and I have had absolutely no pain in my knees.
I asked the doctor if she had reviewed my medical history, and she assured me that she had, but I was skeptical, as she was offering to treat the wrong problem area. I decided that I wanted to see a professional specialist, a rheumatologist, who was more equipped to help with my condition. The doctor rejected the request, and I had to plead with her to refer me to a specialist, as my pain was becoming unmanageable at that point. I was finally referred to the Orthopedic Department in General Hospital, after many attempts to be taken seriously.
I do not recommend this doctor because the care I received from her was extremely unprofessional and only prolonged my pain and discomfort.

I was hit with Covid for full two weeks earlier this month. After getting conflicting and confused information from City Health whom tested me, I reached out to my health care provider. Ximei the advice nurse was very helpful and patient. She explained why I could no longer have the over the counter Pfizer drug. What I should be doing going forward. Thank you for being a wonderful caring health care provider to your patients.. We are blessed.

Well...it has been quite a journey for me dealing with this clinic. I decided to wait some months to post, although it turned into years. I thought I would give them a good ol' chance again thinking that I probably came during bad times in uears past. But no, this place sucks- please keep in mind that I am only referring to NP nurse practitioners and front staff. The medical assistants have done well with what they have at their disposal and the mental health team is fantastic! I will post more details on MH next post. I digress, the last time I was theterere I had to discuss some health issues paleness, not eating, pain all over body and especially the skin, swelling of hands unexplained rash on my face. I was sent to blood test at main general hospital lab...yea that took 2 months. Then I had to schedule again at clinic I was seen by the same np who at first suggested that it was perimenopause / or not enough fiber in my diet ie. Constipation etc... I knew it wasn't that, I have auto immune disorders run in my family and heart problems as well. Anyways. To make the long storu longer. My grandmother kept telling me that she thought I was showing symptoms of RA and heart trouble, I related this to my np still no referral or anything else. She referred me to mental health within their clininc that was a god send. I met with Dr. Sinclair a Psychiatrist and told him my emotional issues but also my health stuff. And you know what HE gave me a referral to rheaumatology with the agreement of the only in house Dr they have at the clinic who is only booked for about 5 appts a week. Dr. Sinclair Psychiatrist made call to SFGH rheaumatology himself. I got an appt the next day was seen by a rheaumatologist right away and was diagnosed with scleroderma and the beginning stages of RA with pernicious anemia- which is a variant type of anemia not curable but treatable. I have been gping directly to rheaumatology every 3 months to get my labs done to see how things are and so far so good 👍- my health is stable, not great but stable.

My advice, go to see an actual doctor not an NP. I know this sounds terrible I have a cousin who is a NP and she even had told me what to tell the NP at Ocean park but it didn't work- she just passed the buck. Figured it was all in my mind which it was but I WAS NOT SOMATIZING IT as she had told me. I'm not going to put the np name here because giving the benefit of the doubt she probably was at a loss what to to, she should have referred me to their Dr but its ok she reffered me to Psychiatrist Dr. Sinclair. When this first happened I was 38. Now im 45 and in way better health. Unfortunately I am still assigned to Ocean park center because of my work health insurance with Healthy Workers plan- if you work city this is the plan you get. So my waybaround this is to pay for a private doctor whom I see as my primary care and he is connected to sfgh as well. I don't mind forking out 145. For a doctor visit its my health my life. Lord knows I have spent frivolousy on clothing more than that. Read this for what its worth. If your going for basic stuff flu vaccine, pap test etc your ok. All the other stuff, make sure you question it. It is your health in their hands.

Btw, this all occured within a span of exactly 3 months. By the time I had my follow up appt at Ocean Park , I had been diagnosed. So of course I told my np this is what rheaumatology tested and found.

Scleroderma
RA
Pernicious Anemia and cardilogy found atrial septal aneurysm.

She was surprised I guess. I told her I was never coming back. And that was that.

People please file grievences if you feel you are not listened to.

This is the worst place ever! No one helps in anyway it's impossible to get the proper care you need. If you need blood work good luck, they make you wait several months even if your symptoms become worse. They do NOT have the proper knowledge to consider their selves doctors. It's frustrating when you know more than the "doctors" do and you have to tell them what tests should be run. Very disappointing and not comforting in anyway!
