My husband who is a Purple Heart recipient (100 percentage disabled) has been trying for 2 weeks to get an appointment with the Dental Clinic in the Villages as we moved to Marion County, FL from Hernando County, FL.
Every time he calls after going through the computer phone maze, and actually speaks to someone, he gets transferred to the Dental Appointment area, and gets disconnected.
Today, he talked to someone and she couldn’t find his name etc., in the computer system.
Update: Today is 03/27/2025, in today’s mail we received a letter dated 03/20/2025 from the Lecanto VA clinic, it’s a reminder letter of my husband’s doctor appointments that he already had on 03/12/2025, and 03/19/2025. The Ocala North VA clinics really need to get their act together. Again, we NEVER EVER had any of these problems with any of the clinics (Brooksville, New Port Richey) in the Tampa area. It’s extremely frustrating to deal with our new area of VA Clinics.

He NEVER had these issues when he dealt with the Tampa VA. It’s a shame that to continue to deal with the Tampa VA would mean 1 -2 hour drive for appointments.
Seems to be that the Ocala Area VA doesn’t have their act together, and the staff doesn’t care to provide good care and concern for Veterans.

I visited here utilizing the Traveling Veteran program, I usually go to another VA clinic. They were able to get an appointment for me quickly (less than 24 hours) and once I arrived I was seen promptly and the labs were done fast too. Everyone I spoke with was polite and friendly. New building is nice.

Never pick up the damn phones they need to fire some of these people and give the jobs to people who actually care about veterans! This is ridiculous! Not all are bad but the ones by the phones suck

Thanks much to Audiologist Amy Gibboney and the audiology team at the Ocala VA Clinic! The services provided are second to none. Audiologist Gibboney has a synergistic team creating superior service in the audiology department at the Ocala VA Clinic. From the Receptionist to the Specialist to the Audiologist the team is welcoming and empathic to the concerns of the veteran.

Front desk girl or whoever answers the phones is not very pleasant or helpful to new patients. Took my 5 calls and run arounds to get back into a Primary APPT

If you are wanting to go to the VA for medical assistance, my recommendation is to instead save yourself the headache and just pay for insurance and go somewhere else. The sad truth about being a veteran is no one gives a Tuck about you, especially the VA.

When my 1st husband was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer and was going through the treatments, the staff at the VA outpatient clinic became like family to us. Even the federal officer there became good friends. At the Silver Springs Blvd location in the Cascades business offices location we were also able to get needed assistance at Vets helping Vets. Hank was awesome. Our son joined the Ocala post of the Young Marines and became the youngest ranking officer in the over 100 year history of the Young Marines. I have nothing but good to say about those people. They were there for us while we fought for my husband's life. I cannot ever thank those people enough for being there or us in so many levels.

The worst, they never answer their phones. When confronted, someone always says they know there’s a problem with the phones, if you know there’s a problem, then fix it.
