People were very kind when I came here. I actually came for my eye prescription and did not have any glasses at the time. I was lost because I couldn’t see (everything was basically a blur and it was a miracle I found the building at all), and a staff member was kind enough to show me the way to the eye doctor, which I wouldn’t have found without her seeing as I couldn’t read half the signs..

The eye doctor herself was very nice, friendly, and likeable. I think she misunderstood my lack of eye contact as me not liking her. No, I’m just a survivor of childhood abuse. I wasn’t allowed to make eye contact with my mother or she would slap me. I have learned to associate eye contact with pain.

(My mother didn’t want to see the hurt in my eyes when she abused me. She wanted me to just stand there and stoically be her punching bag)

Worst Experience at Family Health Center, National City, CA

I want to share my worst experience with Family Health Center, National City, CA. While the doctors are excellent, the front desk agents are a nightmare. The customer service from them is the worst I have ever experienced.

Whenever I check in at the lobby, the desk agent greets me with an unwelcome attitude. This time, I asked a few questions about my current and future appointments, and they tried to ignore me, displaying very unprofessional behavior. This wasn't the first time I've encountered such rudeness from them; it happens every time I visit.

The only reason I continued going there was because of the good doctors. However, this recent visit has made me decide never to go there again due to the careless attitude of the front desk agents. They treat all patients poorly, not just me.

I urge the management of Family Health Center, National City, CA, to read your Google reviews. Most of the negative feedback is about your desk agents. They don't deserve to work in such a critical and helpful role. Please train your desk agents to treat people with kindness and respect.

Very poor service. I had appointment on July 25th at 08:35pm. They cancelled my appointment without informing me, when I was at lobby to check-in they informed me that my appointment has been cancelled because the provider is not here today. I wanted to talk with the supervisor but they said when the supervisor will arrive that they don’t know. The medical assistant named Sindy Hernandez was very rude, she threat me to call Security on me just because I declined to wait there to talk with the supervisor. I have been almost all the family health center locations in San Diego but one & only location national city desk agents are very rude & unprofessional. They will show you the attitude & very unhelpful.The desk agents need to be kind & helpful in a hospital or clinic. Definitely this was my last visit in National City, Family Health Center. The doctors are really good there, but only for the desk agent’s behavior I will not go there again.
I will request to the management to take necessary steps regarding the concern

The medical assistant Sindy Hernandez was very rude at the desk, they didn’t even sorry for their mistake. I had to take a day off from my job for this doctor appointment, but they didn’t even sorry for their uninformed cancellation. Will definitely never come back on this National City Family Health Center

The nurse in the morning, is unprofessional. When she injected the needle in my kid, she MOVED IT while STILL BEING IN ITS LEG. Don’t ever bring your kids here.

Family Health Center, National City is a nightmare. You will face a very worst customer service experience. The doctors are very good & helpful there but at the desk employees are very rude & unprofessional. They always shows you attitude, as if you went there to get free treatment. I have been visited all the family health centers in San Diego but only National City employees found rude & unprofessional. I would like to draw my kind attention to authorities of Family Health Center that it is really concerning that a patient are getting treated by your desk agents

I received my prenatal care here because it was right next to my job and it was convenient and close by. they would schedule appointments weeks -to months ahead it was perfect because it would give me time to ask for a day off or few hours off at work ahead of time to go to my appointments . There was times where I would check In via text and few minutes before my appointment someone from FHC would call to cancel my appointment and try to reschedule a week later from my scheduled appt. Not once but multiple times. When I had a question they wouldn’t reach out to me, I tried contacting their prenatal phone number “available 24hours” never head back from them. Multiple times that I called there was no Dr. Available or no case manager available at the location to help me. I tried scheduling appt and they wanted me to go to all the way to El Cajon city or to an emergency room. When I had questions about my pregnancy symptoms they said oh we don’t have availability until 2 weeks from now . Go to emergency room . I lost my mucus plug days after and headed to ER they let me go home and states to follow up no later than 24 hours with my OB/GYN. FHC was aware of that and they said sorry can’t get you in. A week went by and I delivered early to a premie baby whom admitted at the Nicu in Rady Children’s. Once gotten out of the hospital I went to get a maternity leave paperwork “EDD” at another FHC location not this one, they told me I could drop off the paper at any FHC my choice and that I would have to pick up the paper 7-10 days at the same location once paperwork was ready. I headed to this location and gave them my EDD form for Dr to fill out with the receptionist. I asked them if anything else needed to be written down and they stated everything looked good. That they would call in 7-10 days. 15 min go by and they called me stating there was no case manager or someone else who would fill this form out for me, to pick it up and take it to another FHC location. I told the lady I spoke to that why didn’t she tell me that at the clinic instead of waiting for me to go home and head back to pick up my form. The next day I headed to the FHC IN Chula Vista to drop off another EDD form. They never called me 3 weeks went by and I headed to the clinic to see if my form was ready and they said oh yes. It’s always bad customer service, they never agree on something. Always rescheduling and scheduling appointments for anything so they can say no show and charge your insurance . To top it off they told me that they would schedule a pediatrician appt for my baby once she left the Nicu because they were in contact with a social worker from Radys . My baby left the Nicu this Sunday and I needed to get her in to see a pediatrician 24/48hours after discharge since she is a “risky patient” this location stated they could see my baby as a walk in appt . I headed there @ 11:00am filled out paperwork they asked me for Dr soap notes and proof of vaccines. I finished paperwork and they told me to come back later around 1:15pm because they would be back from their lunch time . My mom and I waited in the parking lot . We got in and checked in around 1:16pm and a nurse walked out at 2:30 to tell me they won’t see my baby and I had to schedule an appt for Wednesday. I told them then why did they say they would see her and made me loose those hours when I could have been looking for another pediatrician. I got mad and left . 15 minutes late they called stating that they would see me to go back into the hospital. That if there was a no-show I would get seen but to get to the hospital ASAP. I asked the nurse what if everyone shows up ? Will they still see her? She said regardless if they show up or not you will get seen. I got to the clinic around 2:50pm they got me in the room @ 3:10 and Dr showed up at 5pm . It’s not DRs fault he answered all my questions and did amazing. The receptionist are just not well trained . They seem to rush things and not go over them with other co-workers or everyone being on the same page. Never going back to another FHC

The doctors here are nice and efficient but the lady’s in the front are always with a very bad attitude. I bend I a different clinics and this location is the only one that have those issues. If there’s a situation they always said they cannot do nothing and at the end they can. I been here for some year bringing my kids but this is gonna be the last one. I so sad because the doctor here are amazing
