The pharmacy service in this hospital is extremely poor. If you choose to mail the medicine, they are very irresponsible and do not consider the seriousness of the patient not being able to take the medicine. When you choose to mail the medicine, the pharmacy operators are very unprofessional, do not work seriously, and delay the delivery of medicines. They delay until the patient has no medicine to take, and do not tell the patient. When I call them to ask, they just tell me to pick it up. It is because it is inconvenient that they choose to mail it in advance. There are two Chinese people in this pharmacy, one man and one woman, speaking Cantonese and Mandarin. These two people have a very bad attitude towards work and deliberately make things difficult for patients. I have complained to them twice, and their manager does not care. Today, I called their pharmacy for several hours from 9 o'clock in the morning, but they did not solve the problem. They made it difficult for me to pick it up in person. This patient is a vegetative state. Without these two medicines, his life will be in danger at any time. Today, these two Chinese men also answered the phone. He is about 50 years old and made things difficult for the patient. Not only did he not provide expedited delivery, but he just put the phone aside and ignored you. The arrival time of the medicine handled by your pharmacy is not accurate. Doesn't the management department of this pharmacy pay attention to this? Don't you know that the patients' lives are in danger if they can't get the medicine or take the medicine because of your delay? Are the managers of the pharmacy in this hospital just going to let these two people work irresponsibly? This has happened several times in the past six months. Today, I called for several hours and still couldn't solve the problem of medicine, so I complained. I really can't stand their service attitude in the pharmacy. I hope the managers of the relevant departments in this hospital will handle and treat the problem of patients' medicine well.

I am leaving a review based on my experience with Dr. David Deng, podiatrist. I had a consult with him in 2022 for a minor bunion on my right foot. His only solution for the bunion was to do surgery, now looking back I wish I had never listened to him and never done the surgery to begin with. The bunion that I had was mild but not affecting my daily life and would only act up with certain shoes, however, after explaining my situation to Dr. Deng he told me that surgery was the only way to cure a bunion and that no other methods worked. He said that since I'm young (28 at the time) I would heal quickly and be able to do everything I had been doing before, including wearing the same shoes I would normally wear (sandals, heels, flats). After thinking about it, I decided to go through with the surgery since I had family that had done bunion surgeries and were happy with the outcome and the recovery time was not long. I SEVERELY REGRET making this choice.. I had to get a second surgery because my toe healed incorrectly and now I have post traumatic arthritis on the big toe joint. These were complications Dr. Deng NEVER told me were possibilities and because of this I now have to wear special footwear, orthotics and be constantly worried about the arthritis getting worse and potentially having to have a third surgery down the line that would leave me with not being able to bend the toe at all. I'm extremely upset, disappointed and depressed with my situation, especially since I'm still young and active and I loved being able to wear heels and sandals (which I can no longer do or have to be extremely careful about). So I would caution patients to get a second opinion (preferably outside of Kaiser) if Dr. Deng recommends surgery and do your research to see if surgery is the best option for you. I have now learned in the worst possible way that surgery should be done when all other options are exhausted, which is the complete opposite of what Dr. Deng had told me.

Jordana in the Physical Therapy division is amazing. I am so grateful to have her as a PT. She went above and beyond to ensure I was able to be seen and always does a thorough exam. She is so knowledgeable, and my lower back pain immediately started to dissipate thanks to her prescriptions. She is truly an asset to the Kaiser team.

My NP visit was fine, she did a great job. But that guy at the check-in counter? Absolutely rude.

Do not comment to me, at check-in, that mine is the highest co-pay you've ever seen. That's just rude for no reason. I don't have a fancy high-paying job that gives me the ultra-luxe insurance. I'm not working; I pay for my insurance on my own; my co-pays are high. The person you want to talk about that to works in KP's own billing department, not the unemployed guy on the other side of the counter. The highest co-pay you've seen? Go eff yourself: I don't control the price KP charges for co-pays, and if we're being clear about things being terrible then let's start with an organization who prioritizes profits over human healthiness. Highest co-pay you've seen? Good thing you're not in the optometry department, mate.

Seriously, eff that guy.

Update, two-and-a-half weeks later: in a move that will shock absolutely no one, Kaiser Permanente did not, in fact, reach out as they said they would. Quelle surprise.

Dr. Isabella Phan was great and the eye biopsy went well, but the entire visit was very disorganized. The Kaiser self check in function did not work properly, the Ophthalmology receptionist was rude and did not check me in properly causing a long wait time, and there was a lot of wait between the assistant and doctor numerous times. No one apologized for the wait, nor informed me that it would take this long. A 10 minute procedure took over 2 hours. The office was not busy, and I often felt neglected as a patient.
1. I attempted to self check in through my phone 20 minutes early for my appointment, and it asked me to respond yes when I was there. When I did it said it did not recognize my request.
2. I went to the receptionist to check in, and he told me to sit in the hallway. 25 minutes later the assistant came out checking for a no show, said I was not checked in, and told me to check in with the receptionist. I did, and the receptionist was rude repetitively yelling NEVER self check in and told me to sit in the hallway.
3. After the assistant sat me down and performed an eye exam I waited approximately 30 minutes to see the doctor.
4. After seeing the doctor I waited another 20+ minutes for the assistant to set up.
5. After the assistant set up I had to wait another 20+ minutes after the doctor applied the numbing drops and injection while she wondered where the assistant went.
Additionally there's paid parking next door, and you can validate your ticket inside Kaiser for a discount. The area also has a lot of traffic. I personally prefer Kaiser at San Mateo because of the free parking and less traffic.

This was my first visit with Dr. Pan Phyu who was welcoming and very thorough. I felt comfortable raising all of my health concerns. She listened intently and provided helpful suggestions. Highly recommend!
