By far, it's the worst hospital I've ever been stuck in. The staff is heartless, and they don't listen to you. Unfortunately, I was stuck there for 6 horrific days I couldn't get out due to spinal surgery.
They treat you like a guinea pig and drug you so badly just so they can sit and do nothing. I have in my chart I have an allergy to heavy opioides I was given into my port every 6 hrs for 36 hrs morphine & Dilaudid. I didn't even know who I was this is how well they read the pre-op notes and allergy lists.
The incompetence of the staff is horrible. I had a nurse who was a nightmare she literally saw my colostomy bag was leaking on the floor and walked away she never called to have it cleaned she just left it. A Chaplin came in to give me communion and to say some prayers, and she almost fell. I was mortified. 4 hrs later, my PT came in, and she threw a towel on it left it.
This is the epitome of horrible management & staffing. This nurse had no caring in her heart. She was definitely not meant to be a nurse, a mean and hateful woman.
The floor in my room was washed once the day before I left. As for my bedding, it changed once in 6 days. Do yourself a favor and go to NCH. I pray I am never taken there in an emergency .

Gulf Coast Hospital Ft Myers restricted parents and family from visiting their loved one after a bad car accident he had. He was in the ICU. He was fighting for his life and Gulf Coast Hospital expressed there is a visitor list we have to go by which only allows 10 visitors. There was family who was visiting from out of town and they had to wait outside. Where is the compassion and the empathy? Gulf Coast Hospital ICU broke their own visitation rules. There is nothing written in their policy that has a so called list. And when the family asked to see the visitation policy, management refused to show us because they knew they were violating their own rules. I contacted the guest service department to complain and they never called me back. Our loved one who was on life support passed. After this heartless encounter with Gulf Coast Hospital, I will not recommend this Hospital to anyone. If Gulf Coast Hospital did not have empathy and compassion for someone dying, how can Gulf Coast Hospital have empathy and compassion for the proper care for your loved one.

Rude red headed girls in the ER check-in. No beds for patients that need them.
