I took my husband who has Alzheimer’s Dementia there with a shoulder injury. He didn’t examine him, allow us to ask questions or even make eye contact with us. He ushered us out of the room after about a minute and told us to have the front desk make an MRI appointment. When I received office visit notes it said he throughly examined him and answered all questions presented to him by us. He absolutely did not! He disrespected me and more importantly my husband and that’s not OK.

I have had a partial rotator cuff tear for 11 years. I WISH I had gotten it repaired years ago - it was quick, easy and almost pain-free. Partial tear is sling-free after a day or two, PT begins the next day, and I breezed through the recovery with Dr. Smith's attention and encouragement. He was super in explaining my alternatives, efficient, congenial and communicative through the whole pre-op and surgery, and, of course, skillful and professional in giving me back a perfectly functioning shoulder! Highly recommend Dr. Smith for this type of surgery.

I had an injury 3 weeks ago in Orlando and had to search for a near by Orthopedic surgeon for continuity of care. Medical record were sent to Dr. Smith and he denied service. I asked for a reason and no reason was provided. It is so sad that it is the only place in Fernandina Beach that can provide service and I was unable to get care near home. Good luck to anyone that is going through a rough process 🙏 like me and needs the care close to home.

Just visited his office. He treated my wife with compassion and professionalism. It is comforting to know that we have excellent doctors on Amelia Island.

My wife has continued to require the good doctors services. He has consistently taken very good care of her.

Dr. Smith was able to correctly diagnose and surgically correct the issue. I did not observe any "prancing" or unprofessionalism as mentioned in previous written reviews. Doctor and staff were all caring and compassionate. I would recommend Dr. Smith and the facility-BMC.
Definitely worth the drive from Brunswick, GA.

Dr. Smith did a wonderful Job on my shoulder. I entered PT that same week and was full range of motion by the second week! I truly enjoyed my experience. Thank you Dr. Smith and Team!

Hands down the worst place EVER. Dr Smith is AWFUL. More worried about looking pretty and prancing his way around for his mid twenties blonde hair blue eyed office staff & flirting with them than any patient that walks in the door. He cares to hear NOTHING about your personal concerns or care takers concerns. They operated on my boyfriend 2/1/18 & gave “after hours” reach numbers for concerns or problems and NO ONE ANSWERED ANY OF THEM, left voicemails because that’s what you do right ? NO ONE EVER BOTHERED TO CALL BACK, AT ALL!!! Fast forward it was now business hours and I calls not 2-4 times but 6 times to get the receptionist to tell me that it’ll be fine, worry about it when he post op appt comes 5DAYS FROM THEN !! 🤦🏻‍♀️ hands down will never ever recommend Dr Smith or his rude awful staff ! JOI IS GARBAGE ! If I could give less than one star I would!!
