I have been a patient of Dr. Basch since she came to Arcata, about 23 years ago, except for the time she had to leave, due to cancer. I feel I am one of the most fortunate people in the world to have such a brilliant, devoted, knowledgeable, and informed, health advocate. So many people have told me that they would love to be a patient of Dr. Basch, and that they have been calling her office, in order to get onto her caseload for years. They have heard what an amazing M.D. she is from their friends, who are fortunate enough to have gotten in long ago.

There is a review on here in which the writer is condemning of two members of her staff. I continue to think, and feel, that Dr. Basch's staff members are wonderful, dedicated, and compassionate people. They give so much of themselves to patients, and have assisted me in many circumstances. Dr. Basch demands excellence in all areas, and makes sure that the people who support her are of the same caliber as is she.

Dr Basch is such an exceptional Doctor, she listens,looks you right in the eye,and is totally present with each patient., and orders the appropriate test if you have health concerns. I have had problems with my lower back, Dr Basch sent me to physical therapy, which has been a big help. My lower back feels so stable now. Dr Basch has you fill out a form each time online either from your home or her office you fill out before each visit. So when you see her she know any changes in vitamins, diet, if you are a currant or past smoker. And your top concerns in order of importance. You can schedule a 15 min appointment, or a half hour if needed.Have you seen any other Doctors, and if so who, and why. And when you leave you have a copy, so you have information in hand of suggestions to help you be part of all decisions about your own health. If you had to go to the hospital, you could take the printed information,and they would have any information they need to help you.I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr Basch’s skill, knowledge, and compassion, and caring for her patients. I have never been to a Doctor in my life that could compare to Dr. Basch, she graduated with a 4.0 , only one of four Doctors to do that in the last century in one of the top schools in the country.

Dr. Basch is a huge resource for many ailments that are sub-clinical as well as chronic and acute disease. She considers the whole person and forms a true physician-patient relationships, not a one-up, one-down situation. She encourages participation in one's health care and emphasizes function, prevention and wellness. She practices evidenced-based medicine and has the highest integrity, talent and skill that I have seen in a physician. She embodies the word physician. Her staff is tireless, caring and wise.
