I have been seeing Dr. Shugrue for several years while he was still in the insurance world. I decided that I wanted to follow him, as he has always treated me so well with any issues that I may have. I love his new practice! If you text him, you get a quick response and he takes care of your needs. The appointments are very relaxed and he takes the time to really listen to you and help you. I have fantastic insurance, but the monthly fee is worth the benefits I get from his medical care. Go see him! You won't regret it!

Dr. Shugrue is a wonderful doctor! He has been my primary doctor since 2016. He always takes the time to answer any questions I have and always asks can he help with anything else before I leave. My Medicaid ended recently, and the psychiatrist I had been seeing switched to impatient only. I’ve been taking the same medications for about 8 years now. Therefore, it was highly important to pursue a new route that would allow me to continue my treatment plan .

My good friend told me about her positive experience with Journey Direct Primary Care. After reading about their unique approach to health care with the option of a membership, I decided to sign up. My current income equates to being in Alabama’s ‘insurance coverage gap,’ so this model works out well for me.

The entire process , from sign up, to setting an appointment, to the actual office visit , and the overall outcome couldn’t have been any better.

I am so grateful to be a member at journey direct. It is such a breath of fresh air to come across a doctor that actually cares, with simply good intentions. I’m highly impressed with the option of primary care without the extra noise of insurance companies and administrative technicalities and such.

Dr. Shugrue is the best. He has been my Primary Care Dr. for about 10 yrs now. I wouldn't go anywhere else. When you find a doctor who cares about you, and wants to sit with you and listen to what is happening in your life and with your health, you want to stay with that doctor. I am so happy that Dr. Shugrue has Journey Direct, there's more time spent to be more open with health issues, than when he was in with the hospital, he had 15 mins or so and that was it. If you forgot to tell him something, oh well, he had to go right to another patient and you would have to tell his nurse to tell him. He's got the best setup now. I'm hoping to keep him as my doctor for a long time.

My first visit today which I believe Journey direct was just opened June…..? Very recently I know that. Dr. Shugrue has been my primary care doctor for roughly 6 months. I’m am very happy with my visit! It is well worth the monthly subscription of about $80! Especially compared how much I use my doctor for medical advice and shortly will be using him and his nurse for stress relief. Some of the key perks are after the first visit to establish your relationship with Dr and his nurse then subsequent visits can be done virtually for safety and convenience. The monthly subscriptions pay for UNLIMITED VISITS, even HOME visits, UNLIMITED TELEHEALTH (my fav), discounted prescriptions (Publix stop taking good RX so they went out of their way to find other coupons for me), discounted imaging and labs, WEIGHT loss, and even DISCOUNTED BOTOX!
Direct primary care helps Dr. Shugrue provide by removing all the boundaries that traditional medicine cannot.
By Cutting out the middleman the cost becomes lower For special attention, improving access to care, and decreased waiting time. My favorite aspect about direct primary care is that after the first initial visit you can, your cell schedule your own appointment in varying times consisting of 30 min to one hour all online using the JDC app.which shows multiple available appointment schedules for the very next day.
I even strongly suggested my “old school” dad to join and my husband just today!
