Dr. Edita has been my GP for 20 years. She is caring, considerate, extremely knowledgeable and efficient. On occasion she has contacted me before or after hours for follow up or a wellness check, beyond the call of duty. I agree with other comments that front office often seems short staffed and calls are not always handled promptly, but I think that's typical in a busy practice.

My first experience with Dr. Extra-Mendoza’s office occurred when I called to see if she was taking new patients. I was asked what my insurance was, I relayed that information and was told that she wasn’t taking patients with that insurance company. I went to the company’s website, to look for doctors, and there was her name as a preferred provider. Not only that, next to her name it said she was taking new patients. So, a week later I went to the office physically. Then I was told that she was taking new patients with my company, I filled out a rack of paperwork, turned it.in, provided copies of my ID and insurance card, and was told I would be called once they had verified the insurance. Imagine my surprise when first one and then two weeks went by and I received no call. So when I was in the area doing business I went back to the office and was told that the paperwork was still being cleared. Something that is so simple that it only requires calling the 800-number on the back of the card took this office three weeks. I called back today, and was told that they had just turned in new patient paperwork - three weeks – God forbid that I had something wrong with me, something serious. There are diseases that three weeks lag time and people would be dead. I was allowed to make an appointment when I called back today, it can’t be the annual physical appointment which is what I need. It has to be a new patient appointment. The appointment is not available until June. So they kept me hanging on the hook for three weeks waiting while they did something that could’ve been done with a phone call, and now I can’t get into see the physician until June. I asked “what if something happens in the meantime, what if I get sick.“ I was told to go to urgent care. I have a doctor specifically so that I don’t have to go to urgent care when something goes wrong. This is perhaps the singularly most insane Interaction I’ve ever had with a doctors’ office. Right now I’m writing this review, when I get done I’ll be contacting another doctor to see if I can get into another office. And if I can, sometime before June, then I will be going to that doctor instead and canceling this appointment. I understand, doctors only have so many hours in a day. I also understand that this is not the way to do business and hold onto your patients.

These doctors do not care about their patients. They have more patients then they can handle. I get a sinus infection about once a year. After weeks of fighting a cold, I knew it turned into a sinus infection. It was Friday and I called their office first thing in the morning. No answer. Then no appointments. Over the day I left 5 messages and talked to staff a few times who said they would tell my doctor it was urgent. She did not call me back. My Saturday evening I resorted to an online doctor. With in one minute of talking to one I had a script for an antibiotic and a steroid- the two things I desperately needed to get my sinus infection to go away. This doctor called me on Monday morning. I will not be going back. On top of this, these doctors have horrible bedside manner. She also wrongly diagnosed me with “arthritis “. I had a hip injury from running. She has called me the wrong name several times too. Do yourself a favor and avoid this practice unless you just want to be another number and not an individual when it comes to your healthcare.

I have worked and retired from healthcare and let me tell you I have seen a lot in 42 years. Dr Edita is an extremely caring, thoughtful, extremely competent doctor. She has never mis diagnosed me and I can sometimes be a challenge. I highly recommend her to anyone needing a good doctor.

I am saddened to report that I agree with the low star ratings. Dr. Extra-Mendoza is a very good doctor. But I've had so much trouble getting through with the front desk staff. I know things are difficult right now but there seems to be a lack of compassion and empathy by the front desk staff. We switched doctors months ago to a wonderful Internal Med provider through TMC. I requested a code to link Dr. Mendoza's MyChart info with the TMC My Chart info. I made 3 requests and finally contacted the corporate office and was helped immediately. I also shared my concerns with the corporate office. I also told them if someone wanted to call me and get specifics I was happy to share my experiences. One of which was Dr. Extra-Mendoza taking a month off but even if she arranged coverage her calls and refill requests were not being handled. I went into the office with a written note (I couldn't get through on the phone) and observed a patient in what appeared to be great distress over stomach pain. She was probably in her mid 80's. The front desk staff person seems (to me) very callous in her response. There was no kindness or caring in her voice. At this point I would think the corporate office should get involved. These low star reviews are evidence of the need to do some improvements in this office.

I’ve been a patient of Dr Edita for several years and really like her and her manner. My only complaint is with the office staff, and yes they aren’t treating me but they are an integral part of the care in getting messages to the doctor and pharmacies, etc. They are non responsive to say the least. Very disappointed that such a wonderful doctor is saddled with a staff that is sub-par.

I liked Dr. Mendoza, but her staff is the most incompetent MD office staff I have ever encountered in my entire life. It takes forever to get anything accomplished because they make multiple mistakes on the most simple tasks. I finally had enough and started calling the office manager to explain what was happening and hoped it might cause them to get to the bottom of their staffs glaring insufficiency. Instead, I was fired as a patient!!
Avoid Valley Internal Medicine at all costs unless you don't mind endless mistakes, delays, and aggravation.

Love this doctor. She is so gentle with patients. I found her to be very knowledgeable and professional. I don't understand why the other reviewers rank her with one or two stars. It's the doctor we are evaluating, not the staff! PS. I don't ever remember having issues with the staff.
