My experience has been pretty good with this place. The receptionists are very caring and sweet. The medical assistants move as quickly as possible in getting information or getting things done. I have had one healthcare provider that is no longer with the company, but the doctor who took over my prescriptions has been very good about taking care of what I need and acts quickly. I highly recommend this place.
I will say that it is just like any other health care facility in that fact that you also have to play a role in keeping up with your appointments, prescriptions, and billing. One thing that seriously sets it apart is the fact that if I have ever had a problem, it gets handled at an impressive speed. It also gets handled with compassion. I’ve been other places where nothing gets done for days or weeks. This place is very different in a good way!

I'm a client at Directions for Living, they have provided me the highest quality of service when I was in need. They also offered me a variety of additional services plus Genoa health care is their full service in-house pharmacy on the second floor which is a convenience if you need filling any or all of medications. They helped me with my mental issues and helped me with a better quality of life.

After reading their sickening reviews from previous people, I was hesitant to step foot in this place. I showed up anyway and was in the parking lot and observed that their entrance is halfway around the building and it's a LARGE building!! For someone with mobility issues this (accessibility - shouldn't have to walk that far; especially if unable to) is a major issue!

Affordable services. They schedule 6 appointments in advance to make sure you get in at your preferred time. They offer later appointments at 6pm to accommodate work schedules. We can do therapy and psychiatry all in the same building. Convenient. Staff seems to care.

So many things wrong here. Lets start with the 3+ hour intake process only to be told youll need to see the therapist and the psychiatrist you see will not be attentive or even half way look at you most of your visit they just stare at the screens and click. They do not know how to properly wrote out appointment card reminders forgetting to put times and days then you call upwards of 20 times to get some clarification and low and behold the phone system said i was caller #2 but then it went to one and hung up i try back and now Im #11 and the time to speak to anyone is 30+ minutes I have already been on the phone waiting since 8 all i wanted to do was see what time my appointment was and that has turned into mission impossible with a side of starting the day off stressed and upset. This place hasn’t helped if anything they are just another notch another bogus process that leads no where id suggest going else where and avoid this place the mandatory how we doing paperwork they “have to give you every time” the doctors the wait times all of it just awful.

This has been a total waste of my time, unfortunately. I waited three months for my first appointment which is your intake. You meet with a person who asks you personal questions all the way from childhood. Then they schedule you an appointment with a therapist. Mine took almost 5 weeks after the initial three months before my first appointment. Days after scheduling my appointment with the therapist, they decided to call me and tell me they do not take my insurance, and I could pay out-of-pocket which I agreed to. Now, after meeting with my therapist for the first time, I tried to schedule my second appointment, which is not available for almost 7 weeks. They should not be taking new clients if they can’t schedule an appointment in a reasonable time.

I was offered a position in HR on a Friday 10 minutes after having an interview. I needed to relocate and they were aware, so I wanted to stop by the office and meet the team and see the area before officially accepting and making a costly move, not to mention discuss with my spouse. I was on my way to the office on Tuesday (literally 2 business days later), when I got a call saying they rescinded the offer because I didn’t accept right away. This shows extreme unprofessionalism in an organization and tells me I really dodged a bullet! If an organization really values talent, that’s not how they should treat people by expecting life-changing decisions to be made on the fly. I won’t be surprised if I see the role still posted when I’ve accepted an offer with another company that appreciates what I can bring to the table and shows some patience!

Update: I was right; they reposted the role and I received offers from three different organizations since!

Therapists and psychiatrists always end up leaving after 2-3 months , psychiatrists will diagnose you in one session, sometimes they forget what they even diagnosed you with. They throw multiple pills in your face at the highest dose without really caring about how they’ll interact or affect you. The psychiatrists will also rush through the appointments, most appointments aren’t even 5 mins long. The appointments are always changed or cancelled without my knowledge. This one therapist I met was a crazy old hippie who looked like she did a lot of acid back in the day. I had a case manager who had the worst hygiene and he didn’t do anything for me but ask me about my past personal trauma. I have a new case manager but I’m pretty sure she quit without notice and just ghosted me after the first meeting. Now why would anyone want to keep meeting new strangers every 2-3 months, they have access to your files and read everything about you …. So they can do absolutely nothing and quit. No progress will ever be made here and it’s a shame. Always google if your medication will interact, my pharmacist has saved me many times. To think that people who are worse off than me mentally, have to come here because it’s the only mental health facility in the area breaks my heart. Months ago, a 17 yr old kid in my neighborhood committed suicide and I believe he was receiving treatment from directions. Not surprised when they don’t care about you and only see you as a number.
Ghetto and sad .
