I strongly advise against leaving your loved ones at Connections AZ/UPC. My experience there was deeply distressing and marked by significant neglect and mistreatment.

1. Poor Medical Care:
Despite severe pain, I was denied prescribed medication by a nurse who dismissed my needs. This lack of proper medical care and compassion was consistent throughout my stay.

2. Racial Discrimination:
I witnessed a deeply troubling incident where a young Black patient was restrained and injected due to mistaken identity. This highlighted a disturbing level of racial insensitivity and discrimination.

3. Violation of Patient Rights:
Repeated requests for my medical records and involvement in my treatment plan were ignored. Patient rights materials were not accessible, violating my right to informed consent and active participation in my own care.

4. Dehumanizing Treatment:
Upon release, I was taken to the lobby in paper clothing despite having my own clothes available. This degrading treatment was part of a broader pattern of disrespect and neglect.

5. Unsafe and Unsanitary Conditions:
The facility was unclean and poorly maintained. Basic hygiene and safety protocols were neglected, creating an unsafe environment for all patients.

6. Emotional and Psychological Harm:
The overall environment was oppressive, contributing to feelings of hopelessness and despair. The neglect and mistreatment took a significant emotional and psychological toll.

Overall, Connections AZ/UPC failed to provide the compassionate and respectful care that patients deserve. The facility's practices and environment are far from acceptable, and no one should have to endure the trauma I experienced there. Please consider other options for your loved ones' mental health care.

My probation officer called them twice. They hung up on her both times and I had signed an ROI for her. She reported them to the state. This place is trash with underpaid, rotating staff.

The emergency staff, particularly some of the individuals of African American descent, exhibited behavior that was deeply concerning. There were instances of playing loud movies while patients were trying to rest, engaging in verbal altercations with patients, and discussing patients inappropriately. This lack of empathy and professionalism was disheartening. While the overall experience during the rest of the stay was positive, the emergency room environment felt chaotic and unsettling, resembling more of an asylum. It's important to note that patients in distress may express challenging behaviors, but the emergency staff's approach appeared to lack the necessary patience, empathy, and specialized training required to support individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.

Absolutely, here's the revised paragraph with the addition:

It's important to acknowledge that inpatient care stands in stark contrast. While some staff members exhibited similar issues, the majority demonstrated exceptional care and compassion, showing unwavering dedication to the well-being of the patients. Their genuine kindness and determination to aid in the recovery process was evident throughout, significantly improving the overall experience. However, it's important to note that despite the caring environment, there were issues with efficiency that caused delays and a lack of coordination among staff, resulting in some confusion and inconsistency in patient care.

My son was admitted in there by his father, the worst experience he went through. The security guards wrestled with him, and body slammed him on the ground! He has bruises on his inner arm. All he wanted was medication so that his detoxing wouldn't be so bad. They forced him to take medication that he was allergic to! He bit his tongue! Chipped his front teeth from grinding them! They are supposed to help you! not hurt you and make you take medication that your allergic too! This place is for severely mental patients! can you imagine what is done to them! I don't know how they are still in business! This is not the last that they have heard from me!

Staff is horrible, making fun of people who are mentally ill. They will mock you. They will treat you like dirt. A few of them definitely care. Most of them don't. It's honestly sad. I was here for a few days before I went somewhere else where they respected me and cared for me. I was fine after a week at the new place vs my week at Connections.

I was given drugs that made me tweak out. They wouldn't listen to me. Screw this place. They should not be allowed to work with patients.

Thankyou for taking my son in and transferring him to get further help. My son is a good person and I wish you could of been able to see that side of him. But because of circumstances his behavior is not the best right now. Again thanks though so now he could get the help he needs again and overcome this like he has before. God bless ? Only thing I didn't like when filling out papers for my son was one worker laughing at him. Then there was another lady worker that was rude to him. Other then that no issues.

I think this place is great. I am transferring clinics so my meds stopped (I have bipolar) and connections has never turned me away and they keep my meds filled. The doctor is super understanding and I always leave feeling much better about myself. It’s a little nerve racking at first but it’s worth it.
