I called a hotline number that my employer gave me and they informed me to go to the emergency room to baker act myself. This facility was the only one that had a bed available for me 2 hours away. I left there traumatized. The nursing staff had a full on party one night even giving some of the patients alcohol. I consistently told the intake nurse and the therapist that I was very sensitive to medication that didn’t seem to matter to them. I can hear the staff constantly putting down other staff members and making fun of others including myself.
The food was horrible, the rooms are disgraceful there is writing on most of the chairs and I felt like I was in a prison. The sad part is, is that I’m paying to be there. PLEASE do not purposely send a loved one to this facility. I was not helped in anyway just more trauma.

I also forgot to say a patient hit the pharmacist on my floor and nothing was done about it.

By far, the worst psychiatric hospital I've ever been. Therapist was rude, doctors and nurses did not listen. Locked out of our bedrooms from 9am til 9pm even though there were no groups after 1:30pm. Patients are not kept informed. Food was pretty awful. Patients were so tired they were sleeping on the hallway floors. Patients are forced to go outside even when it was chilly outside. The groups they DID have were a joke. Medications were messed up several times and the medical staff were not responsible. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Beware. The whole unit smelled like body odor.

Don’t send your loved ones here. My young daughter just turned 19. Spent her birthday here because she went through ECT treatment. She now has chronic seizures and aggression issues. She came home and was having seizures immediately- within an hour. And went to the hospital where they saw seizure activity on her brain. She then got aggressive on the way home and seriously hurt me and her dad. She is in jail now.
Thanks guys for DESTROYING my child who came to you for help!!!
And your unprofessional staff that are literal adult children that make fun of patients to their faces. Make them feel unwanted and picked on. I’m making sure my child NEVER goes back to this facility of torture!!

Breakfast was horrible but lunch and dinner was usually nice. This place is good for teens but it is really easy to get cabin fever here. More outdoor time would be great. Also the nurse lost my clothes overnight while they were being washed, I have no idea how that happened, that system needs to be fixed, I was lucky I didn't give her all of my dirty clothes.

the nurses suck. its like they were looking for reasons to behave aggressively to patients. they kept stuffing one of the girls in my unit with xanax and she ended up miscarrying. there was also this nonverbal autistic girl who kept banging her head on the walls and screaming and all they had was one of the techs watchmaning her and when she would cry and have a meltdown they didnt waste time to strap her down on a stretcher. they didnt care for our mental health.

My First time and Hopefully My Last here. I was transfer here from My Local area Hospital because they had no beds. It was an OK experience all though nursing staff don't tell you the rules or anything you have to figure that out on your own. Some of the tech's have nasty behavior towards patients. Same with nursing staff. I seen many fights break out on both my unit which was port hope and the other unit next to me. The coffee machine was completely misleading . You think your getting decaf when you press the button but in all reality your getting regular and that isn't good for heart patients like me whom have to have decaf. also they only serve you as far as drinks go Milk, water, and juices no regular beverages like coke or pepsi or gingerale and the milk , water and juice gets boring after day 2. Their is no order like a waiting list of who's in front of you to see the Physc Dr. and they just tell you to line up. The staff never knows when they come in to see patients. also, your seen in a locked room with the tech and the mental provider. They refused to honor my Mom's guardianship over me after the mental Dr. thought I was ok enough despite my disability to sign my own legal papers even though I have a judges order that says I am not compitent enough. Staff refused to communicate with her in regards to my medications . Visitation is only one day a week. Your expected to do your own laundry even though their is just a sign with your units hours their is no clear communication regarding that or where to place your dirty clothes until afterwards. In regards to the showers water is Luke warm at best and when you step into the shower you actually feel like your gonna fall though the floor . and the showers aren't cleaned properly either and in my room their was Baby Cock Roaches They don't offer coffee on the units either. you basically want it you have to bring it back from the cafe. Writeings from previous patients all over the furniture and the day room is never cleaned or furniture wiped down. also they need to Cary Name brand thyroid medications for those allergic to the generic like me. The place is ok for the most part and serves its purpose but with what I have said is wrong with the place and needs to be addressed imeadtly and not to put another patient in room 11 in port hope until the bathroom floor is fixed and treated for the roaches it has in their and the water in the shower to hot . The place would be ok as well as all the staff needs to go though training on how to better work with people and not use fowl language towards patients this place for it's area would do great. I really hope I don't have to come back here but if I do I feel that this Google review would help improve things were things need to be improved. No one should be put in room 11 in port hope until it's fixed. also their needs to be a fitted sheet on every single mattress in their .
EDIT: so they asked me to fill out their Contact us section with My email address and I did.Appears that all this place does is take notes from an automatic reply and you never hear from anyone! This place is an Embrassment to the mental health community ! I hope I don't have to EVER go back here! Appears they could careless about how staff is towards patients. Maybe an call to the Abuse Hotline is warranted!

Not a place of healing. And not a place of reassurance for the parent. My 13 yr old was there for four days. I would call for 3 hours before anyone would answer the phone. And then when I did get ahold of someone staff was rude. My daughter said a lot of fights happened while she was there. A staff member by the name of hazel cussed my daughter out like she was an adult. And was mean to the other kids. The therapist were really good. And did a for job communicating but the floor staff could use some retraining and redirecting with their moral compass

I was admitted to the Serenity Bay unit, and I was deeply disappointed with the conditions. The unit was dirty, and many of the staff members, including the nurses, barely spoke English, making communication very difficult. Most of the staff seemed indifferent and mistreated the patients.

However, there was one tech who stood out—Stephanie. She was incredibly kind, polite, and went above and beyond for the patients. Despite being left alone on the unit, she even took on tasks that weren’t hers to ensure patients were cared for. She truly didn’t fit in with the rest of the staff and is far too good for that place.

I definitely don’t recommend this facility. It does nothing to heal your mental health and will only add more anxiety.
