This is kind of an off review as my Dad did not get to stay here because of the decline he had at the hospital. I contacted them at my wits end with trying to get help for my Dad. Lindsey came in on a Sunday, her day off, to meet with me and do a tour. She was very sweet and understanding of our situation. I found the place to be beautiful and well maintained. They even have a dining area that is set for the residents at meals. She steered me towards financial help with the VA that I did not know about. I went in on Monday after getting some bad news and met with Carrie who is the Director there. I literally had a breakdown in her office about everything going on. She sat and talked with me and told me she knew how stressful this is and not to feel bad. She said, “We are here to help”. They both guided me on things that needed to be done and intervened to help when possible. I knew my Dad would get great care here and I could take a breath for the first time in a while. Due to the decline of his health, he had to be placed on hospice, in a hospice care center, when I called to let Lindsey know and apologize for all their efforts, she said that I had nothing to apologize for and she was so sorry that this was happening. She said if you need help with anything or just want to vent to give her a call. I wanted to do this review because for the last 7 months we have been through hell and they were the first people/place to actually walk us through and help us. They have a heart and true compassion which is lacking, in not only the medical field but in this world today. I hope if you read this review you will appreciate the compassion these women have displayed and know that your loved one would be taken care of. They truly went above and beyond for us and I am very thankful.

Brookdale DeLand is a great place for your loved ones. It is a caring, clean & safe environment. I've been blessed to have both parents there. For me, it checked all the boxes for safety, care & friendships just to name a few.

My mom moved in a month ago to the assisted living section. She has been happy with making new friends, getting to know the staff and participating in their numerous activities. It’s so nice to see my mom smiling and being well taken care of. I so appreciate the support and care of my mom by the staff!

I truly believe Brookdale Senior Living is a well run assisted living and memory care facility. I am very happy that my sister Donna is in your care. Thank you for all that you do to make life as comfortable and as good as it can be for Donna, and it’s not easy to make her happy!

I made a wrong decision and picked a different facility which I will not name, initially for memory care. My grandfather was at this other facility for less than a day until it became clear that they were not prepared to care for my grandfather in his current stage of decline. My grandfather’s doctor recommended Brookdale in DeLand and in less than 5 hours, the executive director of Brookdale offered to cover the cost of the second move. Since m grandfather has been ere his care has been top notch and the staff is always attentive and responsive. I would highly recommend Brookdale in DeLand for anyone seeking memory care that lives within A 60 mile radius. 11 out of 10 stars

I wish I could give zero stars! My mother was here from July 31, 2020- Dec 8, 2020.
1. The sales person really sold this place telling BS knowing it wasn't as she said.
2. There are really NO activities for the residents activities consist of really nothing and that is only done 1x a week
3. Staff with a few exceptions are not friendly and act like they are being bothered.
4. Donna, nursing supervisor is nasty and why was I called at 3-4AM to help them get my mother out of the transport vehicle? THEY should be knowledgeable in dealing with someone with possible early dementia..I am not!
5. Still with Donna, why wait for me to say yes to have sent her to the hospital when she was ill for WEEKS...so she finally goes to the hospital, is there for 3 weeks, and dies! All while they charge her for things she never got since she wasn't there but in the hospital!!
6. Ordering diapers at 190.00 each month while she already had boxes and boxes boxes of them! Which tells me the staff never paid attention
7.Cheryl, the director refused to ever meet with me and would only talk with me via email and text. I found out it was how she dealt with all family members
8. When she moved in on 7/31, they charged us for the ENTIRE MONTH OF JULY!
9. My mother was difficult and her undiagnosed dementia made her worse but that is what THEIR facility deals with...yet, I continue lk y got told how difficult she was and they couldn't deal with her!
10. There were bugs in her room when she moved in
11. My mother was covered in bite Mark's from bed bugs! Her mattress came from a very VERY clean place and had a mattress protector on it..yet she was the ONLY one who had bed bugs. And they threw out her mattress but kept some of the bedding!! How does that work? And she had bed bugs twice!

Brookdale LOOKS nice but run for the Hills! They are over priced and do NOT care for the residents

I am unable to write my actual experience due to the reality that my precious mother is still incarcerated there. Since my brother has POA, I have no voice or choice. Put it this way,,,, the place is awful. The people are mean and nasty. PERIOD!
