The sleep study experience was marred by a cascade of disappointments. From the indecipherable photocopies of photocopies to the unreadable map, the pre-visit preparation was unnecessarily challenging. The doors, opening only at 8:02 pm, added an unwarranted delay to an already cumbersome process.

Upon entering the room, the atmosphere resembled a neglected motel. The worn-out, dirty waiting room chairs, formerly retired, even hosted unwelcome ant visitors. The stained, worn carpet and dusty edges further signaled a lack of cleanliness. An hour of waiting with nothing to do in a room void of functional entertainment or amenities set a frustrating tone.

The bed, uncomfortable and seemingly sourced from the "Uncomfortable Warehouse," was accompanied by a headboard that banged against the wall with the slightest movement. The discomfort was compounded by a lack of adequate bedding – no mattress pad, only two mediocre pillows, and a worn-out blanket. My feet dangled off the short bed, making it impossible to find a comfortable position.

During the night, the myriad of probes and wires made me feel as if ants were crawling all over me. The temperature dropped, and the request for heat at 3 am only resulted in an extra blanket. The belching toilet, triggered by every flush in the building, emitted a foul odor that permeated the room. The thin walls failed to block out external noises, making sleep even more elusive.

The dry air in the room left my mouth, lips, and nose chapped. While the staff was polite, their lack of enthusiasm failed to create a welcoming environment. The revelation that I should have brought water, coupled with the staff's reluctance to provide a shower towel, added to the growing list of inconveniences.

The culmination of a night devoid of sleep ended with the removal of probes, leaving me covered in a sticky residue. Despite instructions indicating the provision of towels, I had to request one, only to be told people typically shower at home. Exiting the facility at 5:15 am, exhausted and frustrated, I couldn't help but feel that this sleep study was not an investment in my well-being but rather a regrettable waste of both money and time.
