I have been a patient of Dr Gilstrap for 10 years.
If anyone is considering joining this practice they may want to reconsider.
My experience in the last few months has been anything but positive.
Starting from just trying to get someone to answer the phone .... 6 minutes ringing before anyone picked up!
From being told that there were no appointments available for a sick patient .
It took April his nurse ( actually a medical assistant) 3 months to send a referral for a colonoscopy!
It took six days to report Lab results which should have taken 48 hours ..... this resulted in my illness escalateing and having to see a specialist!!
After expressing my concerns with Melissa the office manager ( left several messages without return phone calls) they were dismissed and rejected.
This staff and, more importantly, the Management does not care for the well being of their patients.

Dr. Huner is an excellent physician who actually seeks to treat you rather than signing you up for the latest and greatest pill. She's willing to sit down and speak with you to learn what's wrong and find solutions to help you become healthier as a whole, not simply more medicated.

From my husband
I am posting this as a review. I can only speak about Dr. Carrie Huner as she is the only one I know, and by extension the establishment that employs her.

Let's play doctor; Your patient is 45-50, female, an admitted recovering addict, and she has driven over an hour(passing by multiple other doctors much closer) to come see you. She claims to not have focus, says she is hyperactive. No history of ADHD or the like, nor any real signs that she is being hyper or unfocused.

So, what do you tell this patient? "It sounds like you may be trying to score Adderall for purposes that are illegal and wrong. Please leave ma'am, if you have an emergency call 911, otherwise I can recommend you to a great drug councilor."

Well, not Dr. Huner. Here is what she does in this scenario:

Does not test the patient or ask any real questions. Instead, she immediately prescribes 30 Adderall for her. Once a day every month.

Several months later, the patient has called at times. Saying her pills were stolen after a week of having them. Is it obvious she's an addict and taking them like jellybeans?

Not if you're Dr. Huner! What do you do? You prescribe her a SECOND bottle of 30 MORE pills for each month. The patient now has two separate bottles of different strengths of Adderall. And at the amount she is taking daily, it's the exact same as methamphetamine.

A couple of years go by. The patient returns each month, slowly looking worse and worse. Her skin is covered in self inflicted scars and wounds from head to toe. She's lost all her teeth. She has lost 140 pounds, despite never dieting or exercising. She has been hospitalized twice. Once after finally falling asleep after a 94 hour Adderall binge, she vomited asleep on her back. Unable to awake she almost died with a lung and a half full of vomit inside her chest.
Second trip to the hospital;
After a year of self mutilating for days on end, her family goes to the courthouse and has her commuted as a danger to herself. She has been seeing "worms and other insects" crawling under her skin. After pulling out a strip of flesh from her ear with a sewing needle, and insisting that her family look at it under magnification, she wouldn't believe that it wasn't a worm. She knew it was insects, she has seen them everywhere. Thanks to Dr. Huner's regiment of meth.

I am sorry to anyone who is hurt by this post. We have suffered dearly, because this doctor does not care. She will prescribe enough Adderall to kill yourself with, with no evidence of the patient needing it.

I have no mother left. Just a shell of who she used to be. I have nothing to lose now, so Dr. Huner I hope you see this. I hope you feel guilt for what you are doing.

Also, to her employers. This "baptist" clinic. Wow, baptist.. Really? I've stopped believing in God. No God would let Dr. Huner abuse her medical degree like this, or demolish innocent families and lives for money and greed.

You may be Baptist, like the rest of christians I meet you seem to be a hypocrite if you tell people you want to "help" them.

Prove you are honest, just, honorable Christians. Prove you care about mankind and it's wellbeing. Prove you aren't REALLY allowing a doctor under your employment to pretty much "sling meth" for no good reason. Prove this to me.

And if you didn't know she does this? Make it right, and make it right now. Do what needs to be done. Fire this quack before she brings lawsuit upon undeniable lawsuit (if not malpractice costs) upon you all.

I am not the first to make this claim of Dr. Huner, but you could make me the last. Do what is right, correct her behavior or simply fire her.

Have a good day; and at the end of each day as you embrace the ones you love, keep in mind those of us who can no longer feel that loving embrace, thanks to Dr. Huner.

Asked receptionist to use the bathroom and she stated I had to use the public restroom in the hall when it clearly states on their website that you can use the restrooms in the office. " Did you not see the restroom in the hall way". SMH. Thinking seriously about changing to another facility.

Dr. Bennett and her staff and nurse (Wendy) are very fast at calling in prescriptions as well as being efficient when we are there for an appointment. Thanks for everything.

This nurse practitioner only heard what she says and almost nothing of what I said. Even after calls to resolve the problem with the office manager, I was repeatedly told what I should have done, rather than the NP.
Not professional at all.

I adore Dr. Huner. The office staff could be more friendly, however I don't go there to see them.
