Having had already been to 1 treatment center prior to Axis, I was skeptical of all of them. However, the second I spoke with Greg, I knew Axis was different. Greg was genuine, helpful, and encouraging, but never pushy. I am so grateful for all the Axis staff, supporting staff, and other patients for being a part of my journey to a life of sobriety. The Axis experience was something that I will never forget, and something that reminds me daily that there is always hope. I would (and do) recommend Axis to anyone struggling with Alcohol and/or Substance Abuse issues, and will be eternally grateful. Thank you Axis for providing me with the tools I needed to live a life I never thought I deserved

I've now been sober for a year and a half and Axis gave me the foundation I needed. The staff treated me like family and had an honest desire to see me succeed. I still keep in touch with many of the staff, from Brock who answered my first phone call to the director of operations. They have become a huge part of my sobriety. I am so grateful that I found axis. Because I did I have a new life that I didn't think was possible for a person like me.

I came from Boston Mass with poly substance abuse issues. Using IV heroin and cocaine and suffering from a major hand injury, I could no longer take care of myself and I knew it was time for treatment. Axis was the first number that popped upon my phone… and thank God it was! Sitting there I called the number and a man named Zack answered the phone. He talked to me for a good hour about what was going on in my life and how he could help. Three days later I was boarding a plane to Axis Residential Treatment in Palm Springs, and a whole new way of life I couldn't imagine. I was terrified standing at the gate – after all, what addict or alcoholic doesn't get scared right before having to leave their old life (even an old life that’s killing them!)? The last text I received from Zack put me at ease as I got on the plane, and set out on my journey with Axis. I was warmly welcomed at the airport by a woman named Megan who throughout my journey with Axis always had my back when I couldn't do for myself. She brought my luggage out to the car and we were off. Looking back on it, I realize that everyone on the Axis team loved me until I could learn to love myself. The first thing I said when I got to the residential property was “This looks like a house!” It was warm, comfortable, inviting, and made me feel instantly at home. Throughout the next couple of months Axis taught me about my addiction and how I can treat it with therapy and 12 step programs. Every day we had 3 groups and interactive activities. At night we would attend AA or NA meetings and meet others out in the community. While I was in Palm Springs I met amazing individuals who helped me walk and work through fears I had never dealt with. The staffs Tiffany, Amy, Erica, and Shay were always willing to be there and push me to do better. On the weekends we would go on outings to coffee shops, ice cream parlors, the living zoo, or the movies. I was always busy either with activities, or realizing by the pool or hot tub. The life skills I acquired while living at Axis helped me to re-learn how to eat more healthily, work out, and physically and emotionally take better care of myself. During my 3rd week at Axis, I had a seizure, which completely scared me filling me with fear and anxiety. The seizure lasted about 2 minutes, and was a Grand Mal seizure due to withdrawal of Bezos. Even though I had been detoxed correctly it is still possible to have a seizure like mine weeks later. The staff used the correct protocols to take care of me until the paramedics arrived and I will be forever grateful for that. Axis gave me a foundation that has allowed me to rebuild my life today. I am now available and present for my siblings and parents. I am accountable, responsible, and can show up for what life throws my way. I hope in the near future I can give back what Axis so generously gave to me.

During the month of October, 2013, I checked into a detox facility for alcohol abuse. I spent four days there and before I was released, it was strongly suggested that I attend a residential treatment facility to begin a program of recovery as soon as possible.

After leaving several messages at local facilities here in Wisconsin with no returned calls, I conducted some research on the web and wound up contacting Axis Residential East for a consultation. After several conversations with a compassionate intake specialist named Greg Baldwin, I soon decided that Axis was the place for me. So I packed my things and got on a plane to California.

There were several reasons for making this decision. For one thing, I had decided I didn't want to be too close to home. For another, the desert setting of Axis, combined with the limited group size of a maximum of seven clients, was very appealing.

Once I arrived, I immediately began my treatment program. The staff was very professional and the ratio of approximately one to one was very effective. The treatment was based on a 12 step program and along with all the other amenities such as yoga, meditation, counseling and attending many offsite meetings, totally prepared me for my journey in recovery. The medical attention was good and the food service was superb. I also made many friends who were all in the same situation as I was. I spent 32 days there and left knowing that attending this program was the best decision I ever made.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity that Axis gave me and cannot offer enough thanks for everything that was provided for me. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is serious about tackling whatever addiction they may have.

Axis is an amazing facility with a knowledgeable staff that truly cares about their clients. I would not have nearly 7 years sober today if it wasn't for the tools that this program instilled in me. Whether you're a person recovering from heavy substance abuse or an alcoholic millionaire, Axis has the environment and tools necessary to teach on to live a productive life in sobriety!
