We worked with Avida when my MS worsened, and we needed more help. Working with Raul, Adrian and Vincenzo has been so comfortable. This is a local, family-owned business that is a total contrast to the huge companies that employ so many people that they cannot possibly keep track of how each individual is doing. In a word, Avida exemplifies care! At any point, when a caregiver was not exactly what we expected Raul and his staff would listen and respond by placing a new caregiver that we felt more comfortable working with. I was unexpectedly discharged from the hospital; we called Raul and by the time we arrived at home there was a qualified caregiver there to help my husband transition me home. I cannot say enough positives about their company!

I called on Avida for assistance as my husband's dementia progressed. The caregiving service that we received made it possible for him to remain in our home much longer than otherwise would have been the case. The caregivers were generally respectful and knowledgeable, and when there was an occasional challenge, Raul worked quickly and responsively to correct the situation. I would highly recommend Avida.

My mother had the best care we could find--Avida--from her 98th birthday to her death at 101 (and a half). The Avida staff were well trained professional care givers. They got to know Mom and very patiently and respectfully helped her and supported her desires to socialize and remain mobile. The relationships Mom developed with these caregivers was precious. Raul and the caregivers were always available to discuss family questions regarding her needs.
Raul is immediately responsive to all/any issue, and he actually came himself a few times during Covid when there were no other caregivers available!

My wife needed extensive home care, and Avida provided it superbly. Their caregivers are prompt, experienced, reliable, kind, compassionate and caring. Like family. Thank you, Adrianna, for helping my wife through so many difficult situations. My wife promptly renamed her Querida: “dear one.”
The office staff are equally superb. Raul and Reylinda truly put the “care” in home care. Every question promptly answered, every request promptly granted, to the best of their extensive ability, plus a stretch, because they really do care.
Avida means “to life.” They mean it, and they do it.

Avida and their entire team was fast in getting us proper help, in what we took as an emergency time frame. After our 99 year old mother fell and needed daily help, they were always right there. Helping to get her to doctors appointments (at little cost,) keeping detail records of each days needs and progress, keeping us up to date and always making requested changes fast and easily. But most importantly, the daily care personnel had such passion for helping another human being. In all aspects, but especially a voice to listen and be compassionate with.
Our entire family is grateful for such professionals!

Avida took care of our 101year old father for a couple of months before we had to let them go. Our father is very low maintenance and easy to care for. The initial feeling was that they have good customer service and are open to input but failed miserably in contacting us when there was a major problem. As for the caregivers here is where the real problems began. They were just completely complacent. Here are just some of the infractions.
1. He was given medication at the incorrect time and it could have caused his demise. We were lied too about this but later found evidence of their unforgivable mistake.
2. Kitchen was filthy.
3. Bed linens were not changed.
4. Clothes were not washed.
5. Caregivers contacted us directly AFTER they were let go, this should NEVER happen. Apparently they were trying to cover their tracks. Where was the management to stop this?
6. It appears money was missing from a drawer after the caregivers found out they were let go. No direct evidence but they were the only ones who had access to our fathers house.
7. They had completely easy to follow menu suggestions and full access to grocery delivery every week. Basically all they fed him were hot dogs and other junk.
Bottom line, we believe that Raul's heart is in the right place but does not vent his caregivers properly and communicates with them poorly. As far as we know there were never any visits by him or anyone at Avida to see what was going on. I believe they too would have been appalled at the situation. The place was filthy, our father was given the wrong medication, we were lied to, he was given horrible meals, and in the end there was the mystery of the missing cash. All in all we cannot recommend Avida Care AT ALL and furthermore hope anyone considering them think twice about utilizing their services.
As far as our credentials go, I have been a successful independent contractor in Japan for 40 years and speak fluent Japanese.
My sister is an RN with a Masters in Health Advisory and worked directly under the Obama Administration traveling extensively in the USA as a major Health Advisor to various government organizations.

Your reply said that we did not communicate during the care. We informed you of everything AND YOU DID NOTHING! Don’t lie after the fact, I will leave it at that more proof to STAY AWAY FROM This ORGANIZATION!!!!

Update: a television was stolen from the kitchen as well!!

Avida Home Care provided us with in-home care givers for my 86 year-old father-in-law. From the first meeting in our home, Raul Mendez was very organized, professional and personable. Raul assessed our needs, met with our family and offered great flexibility to met our needs.

Raul did a great job of communicating before, during and after care givers had been to our home. He was constantly evaluating their performance and ensuring we were happy with the service. The care givers were very kind and sweet to our family and treated my father-in-law with dignity.

I would highly recommend Avida Home Care for anyone needing help to care for their loved ones.
