The doctor and his staff provided exemplary service and I'm completely satisfied with medical care. He an staff are genuine considered during my visit; they were attended when I express my ailments. When having problem with their sign-in iPad, the receptionist was more than willing to assist with the completion. They are a professional team of medical technicians. Keep up the excellent work.

If I could give ascension primary care a 0 I would! I waited 2 months for an establish care appointment. When I booked the appointment, I was specifically asked by the person booking my appointment if I needed any controlled substances filled or refilled. I told them yes that I had Xanax that my midwife had prescribed to me after my son was born in 2022. Since I was no longer under my midwives care (since my son had been born) they were able to give me 1 more prescription refill but said that I would have to have my primary care do it after that. So they were WELL AWARE of that fact that not only did I need a controlled substance refilled, but also WHAT prescription specifically I needed refilled.

Fast forward 2 months later when my appointment finally came up. I saw an ARNP Shannon Chappell. Now in my mind an establish patient appointment, I figured would be a bit of an extensive appointment. To get to know me, my medical history, my exercise and diet history, any surgeries I’ve had, how many kids I’ve had etc etc etc. Shannon walks in and basically asks why I’m here. I said that it was to establish care but also because I needed a medication refilled that my midwife had given to me after my son was born that really seemed to be helping my panic attacks. Right away, without asking any further questions she said that she wanted to put me on a daily antidepressant. I was very hesitant and spoke up and said that I have a history of being sensitive/allergic to multiple medications. I was already very hesitant to start Xanax when my midwife had given it to me but that seemed to be working for me and I didn’t feel like I needed a daily medication (plus I’ve heard that those are a LOT harder to get off of. That if you ever try to, it can take months or years of trying to taper down. Where as the Xanax that I was taking was only as needed and I wasn’t taking it daily. My midwife had only prescribed me a quantity of 10 a year prior and I was down to 2. So it’s not like I was taking them daily or abusing them. But they literally make the difference of me having to call rescue or not if I don’t have them and my panic attacks get that bad. So she knew all of this, but still brushed me off and said that she ā€œdoesnt likeā€ to prescribe Xanax and thinks I would benefit more from a daily medication. I love how I’m just another number. When you have a patient telling you what works for them and that they are highly sensitive to medications, you treat her just like any other patient that you have by saying that,ā€ you don’t likeā€ to prescribe a specific medication. šŸ™„

Mind you this was our entire appointment. That’s it! She said to try that for a month and come back in a month and THEN we would do more extensive establish patient care stuff like blood work. So I waited 2 months for THAT appointment and now was going to have to wait another month to really look into my health and establish care.

Meanwhile I went to go fill the prescription and talked with the pharmacist Who sadly spent more time with me than Shannon chappell . I expressed my concerns to him just like I did to Shannon and after talking to him about my medical history, he recommended that I not take the daily antidepressant because I have a history of heart palpitations (heart arrhythmias) and this medication that she had prescribed, could cause that ESPECIALLY if it’s taken with other types of medicine that doctors often prescribe for other health issues. So I didn’t end up getting it filled.

Meanwhile I was back to square 1 again after 2 months of waiting. I was down to 2 of my panic attack meds and needed some more asap before I totally ran out. So I messaged ascension primary care back and explained what was going on and that I needed Shannon to prescribe me the medication that I needed. I messaged them on a Thursday and when I didn’t hear back from them after 24 hours, I called them and they told me that they usually respond within 72 hours. 72 HOURS!! I’ve never heard of that in my life but ok. Since it was now the weekend, I had to wait an additional 2 days.

Ms. Lindsey Ray is the best provider!!! I’ve been a patient of hers for almost 3 years. She always takes the time to listen to my concerns. I never feel rushed. Has great bedside manner and is very knowledgeable. I love how she has me do my lab work prior to my appointment so that she can hand me a physical copy of the results and go over any concerns and questions. She’ll take the time to explain research-based findings, pros and cons on different medications. I never feel judged by her. I highly recommend her!
