I had an unfortunate accident Monday, Aug. 7th, falling halfway down a flight of 15 hard oak steps. After trying to soldier through the pain for a couple of days, I knew I wasn’t just hurt but injured. Being new to the area, avoiding ER’s like Covid, I made one of the best discoveries of my life, I chose to go to Anniston Care Plus. As soon as I walked in I knew I had made the right choice. From the ladies at reception on entry, to Desiree, who assisted me to my car, and everyone in between was expeditious, caring, professional and compassionate. Then after a short wait, in walked the all star, Melissa. Within just a few minutes she determined I had indeed injured myself and without scaring me to death, did strongly suggest I go to the ER, even offering to call an ambulance to transport me. She explained, after being unable to get a reflex in my left knee, that I needed a CT Scan which they did not have the equipment to perform. Dreading filling out virtually the same forms I had already filled out and the interminable wait that was a given, Melissa called ahead and told them I was coming. She also gave me the forms from Anniston Care Plus. After declining the ambulance kindly offered, I was rolled to my car via a wheelchair and helped into my car. With absolute dread I entered the ER, observed the waiting room stuffed with people, and thought there’s no way I can sit in an uncomfortable chair for hours. But my fears were unfounded. Because Melissa had called ahead, given me my paperwork, they were waiting for me and as soon as I handed them my papers, they took me straight back and I was being X-rayed and CT scanned within minutes of walking in the door, bypassing 50 people and hours of waiting which I would not have been able to tolerate in the agonizing pain I was in and surely would have left AMA.
Conclusion: fractures of transverse processes of L2, L3, L4 (see photo lifted from scan.) I had to return to my hometown, Nashville, to follow up with a neurosurgeon who said in 25 years he has never seen this type of injury require surgery. I could not believe it and was so happy I broke down. I’ve always been terrified of even having a needle stuck in my spine and was even discharged by a neurologist once, who was treating my L-5 and accompanying sciatica pain because I refused to take a cortisone (I think it was) injection in my spine. This phobia was only reinforced in 2000 when my younger sister, Amy, plagued for years by sciatica pain, had surgery on her L-5 disc, as routine as back surgery gets if any back surgery can ever be considered routine. She contracted spinal Meningitis and two weeks later was on life support with no brain activity. Covid had just shut down the city and we weren’t even allowed into the hospital. My devastated mother was the only one allowed to go up to the floor, alone, to be with her only daughter and best friend as Amy took her last breath. Leaving 5 children, I can’t even begin to express the utter disintegration this caused the collective psyche of my family. I was projecting the same fate onto my own condition but Melissa was so gentle, kind, compassionate and reassuring, she took the time to comfort me, ease my fears and assure me I was going to be okay. She was right, just as she had been right to insist I go to the ER and paved the way for me to get immediate treatment. I was anything but a number. Every single person on duty that day showed me genuine care and concern and I will never forget what they did for me. Should I find myself in need of medical attention in my future in Anniston, which is my sanctuary and paradise compared to Nasville, and where I plan to always keep a residence on Pine Hill Country Club, I’m going straight to Melissa and the wonderful staff of Anniston Care Plus. Thank all of you so much. I’m still in Nasville, hating every minute of it except dinner with my mother and spending time with my girlfriend. Other than that, I’m counting the minutes until I get back to my peaceful, serene, tranquil sanctuary on Sunday. The only place I’ve ever been content.

So sad that after using this clinic for several years, I had a major issue with billing and insurance, and after calling several times ands getting promises each time that they would call me back with answers, I finally called a final time today and was told that they couldn’t do anything about it, and the person I spoke with hung up on me, although I did say I wouldn’t be back to their clinic. Very unprofessional all the way around. I have excellent insurance and was not rude in any way. Very disappointed.

the staff here is very rude.. one lady in particular but not sure what her name is. called them like a normal person does to set up an appointment and as soon as i got in to speak to the woman at the front desk i was informed that the doctor i came to see actually does not work in this building at all but for some reason when i mentioned that’s who i needed to see on the phone beforehand i wasnt told a single thing about that and they acted like i was going to be seeing this doctor that’s no longer in this facility and hasn’t been for many years…. so not only did i come here thinking i had an appointment but they were also very rude with me for something that was their mistake and not mine. terrible people the least you can do is do your job and actually HELP people and NOT be rude.

I came as a walk in, and was greeted with such kindness, from the receptionist, then the nurse and Doctor! They really showed concern about my health issue, patiently listened to what I had to say, and were very quick to help me! A great big thank you to the staff! Highly recommended!

I always take my kids here when they are sick between Well Visits with their pediatrician. It's always a great experience. We went today, and as it was super busy, they let me wait in my van with the kids. This was a huge relief since I was able to let them watch the built in entertainment system and take a little breather. We ended up waiting for 2 hours before we got called back. Once we got back, they had 3 people to quickly get our vitals and ask me symptoms. From there it moved quickly and they were super sweet. The nurses and doctors always remember me and my kids. They really make you feel well taken care of. 10/10 recommend!

I had been seeing my primary physician for 20+ years when I decided I was no longer happy there and was looking for a change. I used several walk in clinics before trying Anniston CarePlus and decided that Dr. McVeigh would be my new primary. He is a very caring, kind, and thorough doctor and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I have seen other doctors and nurse practitioners there and have been very impressed with them too. And the entire staff is awesome! I was so happy with them that I sent my sister there and Dr. McVeigh has gone above and beyond to help her when no one else would. I can not say enough good things about him! I have never had longer than a 15 minute wait in the waiting room or exam room but you never feel like they are rushing you in and out like so many doctors offices. They actually take the time to listen and try to provide the best care possible. I could not recommend Dr. McVeigh and staff anymore highly!

NP was supposed to call in inhaler and antibiotics. None were called in. Called twice to check on status. At the end of the day they called in my regular medication (without lab results) no inhaler and no antibiotics. Now won’t answer phone. Will never go there again.
