I had an initial appointment at this office, and while the provider and front desk staff were professional, the medical assistant made a terrible error. A week after my visit, I unexpectedly received a $333 lab bill—despite not having completed any lab work to my knowledge.

After multiple calls, the office claimed that my urinalysis was abnormal (something that was never mentioned during or after my appointment). However, a urinalysis is a quick dipstick test that provides immediate results. Instead of informing me of any abnormalities or obtaining my consent, they unilaterally sent my urine for additional testing, including a urine culture and other tests. As a self-pay patient, I was not made aware of these charges beforehand, nor was I given the opportunity to decline or approve the additional testing.

To make matters worse, when I contacted the office for clarification, I received inconsistent explanations. One staff member falsely claimed I had undergone a swab test, which I most certainly did not. Another then admitted that additional tests had been performed without my knowledge or consent. It has now been three weeks since my appointment, and despite my repeated attempts to resolve the issue, I have yet to receive any follow-up or explanation from the office.

This lack of transparency and disregard for patient consent is both unethical and unacceptable. Patients—especially those paying out of pocket—deserve clear communication and the right to make informed decisions about their medical care. I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with this office.

Very unhappy with my experience here.
I had to wait 2 months just to be seen for my first appointment. So 3 months of waiting and not knowing anything about my baby.
I had 2 appointments today 1/21/25 for ultrasound and new patient appointment. ultrasound was quick. But waiting for the doctor took ages. I am someone with severe panic disorder and PTSD. With a horrible case of white coat syndrome.
I informed the nurse beforehand my blood pressure does spike scary high briefly when i first enter the room because I have these anxiety disorders, not to mention i worked myself of because i had no idea the status of my child the last 3 months, and it was just a rough day for me. I asked her to wait and let me calm down before she took it. She still proceeded to take the BP right away and of course it was high. But then I was left in the room again for another 40 minutes, at this point the anxiety had gotten unbearable for me and I had to leave. 2 hours of waiting, I leave and receive a call telling me to come back because I need to get on blood pressure medication immediately. The lady on the phone informed me that I do not have anxiety but a medical issue that needs addressed asap. I have birthed 2 healthy babies over the course of the last 6 years. And have had this same issue Everytime. I felt disregarded and unheard which made me panic even more, the second I got home I checked my blood pressure to find it was back to normal ranges. As someone who deals with this, I totattly understand the concern as it’s your duty to lookout for these things, but maybe had the nurse sat with me and calmed me down and re checked she would’ve seen the number had significantly dropped, and there would have been no need to cause more panic, or tell me I don’t have anxiety. my last OB understood me and listened to me every step of the way, never once did I have any issues with my blood pressure once I got comfortable with him. He would sit and talk to me until I felt at ease as well as the nurses. you guys are in the business of caring for people, jumping in and out of rooms after being informed of how I felt was upsetting. It felt like they didn’t care and I was just another number waiting.

This place has gone down hill, everyone who answers the phone has an attitude and asks like your bothering them. I called multiple times because I’ve yet to hear anything back about tests results, called at 4:58 they took the phone off the line, set it down then hung up at 5. It’s like pulling teeth to talk to anybody at all, nobody even relays your message to the doctor…… Very short lived time with this office. Looking for a new Obgyn now.

I had my new pt appt a while back and wanted to give a review of this office. The staff (both front MA and back MA) were fine. They were kind and quick to get me back. I waited less than 5 minutes in the lobby. However, Dr Escobar has got to be one of the worst physicians with the worst bedside manner I have ever come across. They were not busy that day but she had me wait one hour in the room before she made an appearance. I honestly was about to leave. Once she came in the room she never even introduced herself (this is the first time Ive ever met this person), she never smiled and barely looked at me the enitre time. She acted as if she would rather be anywhere but in that room with me. She was very judgmental about my issues and even seemed to scoff at me. I understand people have bad days but I work in an Urgent Care facility. When you are having a bad day, you leave your problems at the door and treat that patient kindly, as if they are your only patient. She was anything but and is the reason I will NEVER return to this facility. I will also never recommend her to anyone. Which is a shame because we get patients all the time looking for local PCPs.

Its really a shame that Dr. Thompson is not at this facility anymore. She was an A+ top notch provider that actually cared enough to, at the very least, smile at you. She is dearly missed.

First and foremost, I had to go in person to set my appts because customer service was a disservice to help as a new patient. They scheduled and canceled my appts multiple times within my knowledge. Secondly, my blood work showed concerns and they had to find a way to fit me in instead of making it an urgent matter when I end up miscarrying my baby and not ONE call from this doctors office to follow up with me. Baycare was a great help and has been beyond supportive I highly recommend St Joseph North. I would rather take the commute then to be treated like just a number. I don’t recommend adventhealth. I have a friend that experienced the worse as well! The care of mom and baby should always be a priority.

I had an OBGYN appointment scheduled for 10:30am Monday morning (1/13/20). Shortly after I signed in, the receptionist called me to the desk and asked for my updated address. I had corrected the address in the portal last month, however it did not update in their system. She then informed to me that they had been mailing bills out to my address and that I had been placed in collections.

Apparently, they had been billing my current insurance since my first appointment back in November and had been denied each time. Instead of telling me about the balance back in December 16 (my last appointment) or prior to my appointment yesterday, they waited until the day of my visit. The receptionist stated they were denied due to my old insurance company being made my primary by my current insurance. This was my first time hearing anything about this issue and I haven't been with my old insurance since May 31, 2019.

She advised me to call my current insurance to have them to correct this error. I then called my current insurance and they stated that it would take 3 business days to update this information. The supervisor for my current insurance company attempted to call Advent twice to advise them that it would be corrected, and that they would be paid for all visits including yesterday’s but was left on hold for a long period of time without answer from a representative.

The receptionist attempted to reschedule for another day this month. I advised them that I will be unable to take off another day this month being that I just started back working. I told them that I would have to come back in next month. Then they stated that the Dr. said that she can’t approve an appointment for next month. However, if I pay out of pocket for today's visit I will be seen. I left out of the office crying, stressed, as well as frustrated by the treatment that I received by this office. Mind you this office is over 30 minutes from my home and I took off from work for the appointment.

What happened to ā€œbest practiceā€ for offices and customer service? I literally had no idea that there was an error with the current insurance company, so I am the victim in all of this. To add insult to injury, I will be 5 months a few days so my unborn child has to be victimized as well. This is unacceptable.

Please stay away from this location; I should listen to the reviews. I have been calling the office for two days after my visit. No one answered the call! No one calls you back, either! If you have any conditions that need follow-up, don't choose this place. The nurse practitioner Pam is great and helpful. She deserves to work at some place to care for their patient.

I am extremely disappointed with this practice. I made an appointment as a new patient and waited around 5 weeks for my appointment day to come. About 45 minutes before my appointment, I received a phone call from their office stating that Dr. Gomez was canceling clinic for that day. I was bummed as I hired a babysitter and she had already arrived at my house but I understood that things come up. At that point I was still willing to reschedule until the receptionist stated that the next appointment was almost 6 weeks from the one they were canceling. I literally though she was joking. I just waited 5 weeks for an issue that I need resolved and now I have to wait another 6 weeks? That is extremely unprofessional and it’s lack patient care. I understood that the practice had to reschedule because Dr. Gomez was very ill, but make accommodations to see those patients as soon as possible. Stay late, come in early, whatever it takes. Now I am at square 1 finding a doctor in this new town I just moved to and I have to continue living with an explained pain that I was hoping to get answers to.
