I can not tell you how impressed I was at this Hospital, all nurses, staff, facilities and doctors were phenomenal! ER was fast and efficient, Dr's Wade and Dr. Barrantes were great, met and got a new cardiologist, Dr Munish Goyai and two of his associates. I was completely shocked at how easy of an experience everything was. This is how it should be! The only slight problem was that there was no hot water in my restroom and the shower looked like it had been redone by someone who was doing their first ever job! That however was completely unnoticed by me because of the care I received!

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. The worst experience I’ve had in any hospital, bordering on medical malpractice.

I went in with a gash on my head and I ended up waiting for 8 hours without being seen. I asked for a fresh Ice pack and the nurses turned me away and were extremely rude and dismissive. I was left for hours with nothing but a dirty wet rag from my car and my eye nearly swelled shut. Whenever I’d try to simply ask for an update as polite as I could they were extremely hostile towards me.

I ended up leaving early and going to another hospital out of town where they had to clean all the dried blood that coagulated in my wound before giving me stitches because it had been so long without ever even being properly cleaned out. Even the doctors I spoke to at the second emergency room were shocked by what I told them.

I come to find out this emergency room, which is a trauma center by the way, only had 2 doctors for the whole floor. The nurses anger towards me was their redirected frustration. I don’t ultimately blame them personally but I do blame this extremely mismanaged hospital that obviously cannot provide even the most basic level of care for their patients. Why they are being allowed to even operate as an emergency room with so little staff is unfathomable to me. Go anywhere else but here.

The care we have received was great. The waiting room windows however, need to be changed. This is in the maternal fetal medicine waiting room.

Since the transition from Asension to UAB, the culture of this facility has truly gone down. There are under trained staff activily working with patients in the ER.
My mom fractured her hip and we have been waiting for 7hrs, with no pain meds or updates . I stepped out of the room to ask for an update. I saw two blonde white females talking at the desk. Since they did not acknowledge me, I said, "excuse me", I'm looking for then the tall giraffe looking lady puts her finger up and said, "I’m talking, wait"! This rude and unprofessionalism is NOT the norm until now. I asked for her name and was told she is a physician assistant named APRIL. April needs some more training in bedside manner. Another lady on the side of her said, "may I help you"? I asked for the room nurse, Nicole. She acted like that name wasn't familiar to her. I saw Nicole and asked for an update. She said, "the doctor hasn't been in to speak with u"? I sd, No. 45 minutes later
a male walked in Dr. CRENSHAW, he stated that St. Vincent's wasn't qualified to perform the procedure needed and my mom would have to be transferred to the original UAB Hospital. Mom asked for pain meds and he responded, "You didn't have anything"? We both looked at each other and said, No! This is 🫣 disappointing! Goodbye my Catholic hospital.

The culture of this facility has gone down. My Mom was treated poorly by Nurse Summer. She has a very nasty attitude, and should not be in Nursing. She makes the person family care for their loved one. She overwhelms the PCA and avoids doing anything that she feels is a dirty job. I hope she changes her attitude, but if not please remove her from the staff at St. Vincent's UAB. From my understanding she is a travel nurse, please don't renew her contract here at this facility.

We have been waiting for over 3 hours. There are no updates and the staff at the front desk are on FaceTime making personal calls loudly the majority of the time we have been here.

At the very least provide updates to patients waiting or set a realistic expectation who are waiting in pain so that they could choose to go elsewhere.

Called central scheduling to reschedule a procedure and the operator IN THE PHILIPPINES that I could barely understand, wanted to know why I was canceling the appointment. I asked to be connected to the ST Vincent's number, the call failed. Had to call back and finally got through. UAB, for the ridiculous fees you charge, you can't afford an operator in the USA I am a ST Vincent's guy and their medical staff is second to none but the support staff need to pick it up an notch. PLUS...too many of them on a cell phone and acting indignant when you "interrupt" them. The valet guys are the best in town!

Upon a recent visit to see someone, I noticed St Vincent's has taken a dramatic downturn in SANITATION and maintenance. The appearance was awful. The cleanliness was awful. Everything in the room was beat up and dirty. Trash string about. Dirty counters, moldy windows, dirty floors, foyer smelled funny. Over all not clean. By hospital standards it was AWFUL.
