California Fresh Market is truly a standout shopping experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean, well-organized, and welcoming the store felt. The layout makes it easy to navigate, and every section is stocked with care. One of the highlights for me was the hot food and fresh fruit selection. The fruit is already washed, sliced, and packaged, making it incredibly convenient to grab and enjoy on the spot or take with you. The hot food bar offers a wide variety of options that are both delicious and fresh, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner solution.

The store also features an impressive beer and wine section with a range of both local and international selections. Whether you’re looking for something unique or a well-known favorite, there’s something for everyone. Another great touch is the Starbucks inside the store. It is a wonderful option for grabbing your favorite drink while you shop or relaxing at the in-store seating area with a quick meal.

The customer service was excellent. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, approachable, and genuinely helpful. They were eager to assist and made me feel like a valued customer. California Fresh Market offers a well-rounded experience that combines quality products, thoughtful amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere. I will absolutely be returning and recommending this market to others. It is a true gem for anyone who values convenience, great prices, and great food.

I have read some of the reviews, bad & good. I'm a traveler & this store is way above average. In fact, I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Here is OUR truth.
Beautiful store and not just groceries. Clean bathroom, Kind staff (cashiers, deli, & meat). Great cheese and charcuterie area. Make your own salad area fairly clean but not a huge selection. It's still very good. Desserts great, but not huge selection. Love the atmosphere! Expensive, but anyone in their right mind would know that walking in. No surprises. Price equivalent to quality. They probably thought I was an OSHA inspector with my camera. 😂 Enjoy the pics.

Cal Fresh has a great selection, especially if you want healthy alternatives or gluten free options to things. Their specialty drink section is top notch, and both the smoothie/coffee bar and the deli are high quality. The only problem is that everything is fairly expensive, maybe 15-20% more than other grocery stores.

Okay St Patty's Day we needed a corned beef they had corned beef and it was Snake River farms corned beef. Could not believe I found that kind of meat in a store. Definitely was some of the best corned beef that I've had and I'm Irish so that saying something.. definitely would recommend going here for the beef.

This market is a must visit when we come to Pismo (from Bakersfield)! We look forward to it as much as Splash and Hoagie’s! It has everything you could want! The food, the groceries,, the bakery, the unique gifts! We love it all! Wish we had one in Bakersfield!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting California Market, and I must say, it's a game-changer! This market is a one-stop-shop for all your culinary needs, offering a vast array of ready-to-eat foods, fresh sandwiches, premade burritos, a hot bar, a salad bar, and an impressive selection of organic fruits and veggies. But what truly sets California Market apart is its commitment to supporting local produce and artisanal goods.
But what really impressed me was the hot bar and salad bar. The hot bar offered a wide range of options, from fried chicken, chicken nuggets, corn dogs, and bbq pork. And the salad bar? It's like a symphony of colors and textures! From heirloom tomatoes to crispy kale, every ingredient was fresh and expertly prepared.
The market sources its fruits and veggies from local farmers whenever possible, which means you'll find an incredible selection of seasonal goodies that are often hard to find elsewhere. From heirloom apples to rare melons, every item was ripe and ready to eat.
Now, I will say that some prices can be a bit steep (especially on those harder-to-find items), but I understand that when you're working with small-batch producers and high-quality ingredients, sometimes that's just the cost of doing business.
Overall, California Market is like visiting a futuristic air-conditioned farmers market – think Whole Foods meets Sprouts meets Trader Joe's all rolled into one. It's a culinary wonderland that will satisfy even the most discerning palates. Whether you're stocking up for the week or just looking for a quick bite on-the-go, This spot is worth a visit.

This market is a must if you are like me and come over from the Valley with our trailer and stay for a weekend or even two weeks if you’re retired like we are and you want to have a couple of nice meals that you can prepare back at the trailer or rental and you need a couple of specialty ingredients or an upscale protein to grill while you’re here. They are a little bit on the pricey side at the market, but the items that you purchase will be good quality and possibly unique so don’t be afraid to go in there without that shopping list because you’ll get pretty creative with your menu once you see all of your options.
I especially love the huge deli where they’ll make you that special sandwich or wrap along with any kind of salad that you may be wanting. There’s a good selection of food at the Wing Bar or Salads that you make yourself. My favorite thing though has got to be the Boar’s Head meats and cheeses! If you’ve never tasted the difference you will after the first bite. I highly recommend the beef pastrami, thinly sliced (so that you can pile it up high like the Chicago deli’s do) and the Lacey or baby Swiss cheese with the Boar’s Head Deli Mustard. Then head over to the bakery section and get some of their delicious, crusty sourdough bread or rolls and some good dill pickles. That will make you a sandwich that you will not forget. One touch that I like to add is some grilled carmalized onion when I get back to the trailer and start assembling this beauty. Paired up with the wide selection of salads or chips it’s a killer combo for lunch and you may not even need to worry about dinner. But if you decide that you want that special treat for dinner, stop by the Meat Counter and get a couple of those 1 1/2”-2” thick prime rib eyes and the fixins’ for a good green salad along with a couple of nice sized baking potatoes for dinner. Add a nice peppercorn sauce or some caramelized onions and mushrooms with a touch of balsamic glaze over those medium rare steaks and you’ll be in heaven. Im sure that their wine and spirit area will have something that will pair nicely with that meal.
I wrote this review knowing that we’re heading over there tomorrow for a nice stay and I think that I’ve got a jump on the meals we’ll be having along with the staples like Pismo Beach Fish ‘n Chips and Rosa’s.
Be sure to stop in California Whole Foods, you’ll be glad that you did. 😉
