Dr. Mahnaz Qayyum is one of those doctors you find and you thank your lucky stars that you found her! She genuinely cares and goes above and beyond for her patients. Aside from managing your routine health care needs, she is there for you when you need her the most! That was the case for me today when her amazing staff fit me into her busy schedule to address an unexpected situation which required her attention and she was able to offer me an immediate remedy. Thank you Dr. Q, I’m feeling so much better already!

Dr Qayyum is very good and very helpful,very knowledgeable . She listens to medical problems that I have. When she gave the injection on my shoulder due to arthritis it helps a lot . I love Dr Qayyum and her staffs. They are really nice and very helpful.

The staff are always very kind and caring at the Dr.Phillips office location. Dr.Q always shows concern and prescribes a corrective action which doesn’t always require medications. I find her to be very refreshing and respectful. Highly recommend.

My girlfriend has been seeing Dr. Qayyum as her PCP for several years, but my experience has been consistently disappointing. She frequently speaks to patients in a condescending manner, which makes me feel like her concerns are dismissed rather than addressed.

Most recently, my gf has been dealing with daily fevers for weeks, and her response was, ‘You’re 22, you don’t go to the ER for a fever; you weren’t dying,’ which felt dismissive and unprofessional. Other doctors I’ve consulted have expressed concerns about her prescriptions and treatment plans, leaving me to question her judgment.

What bothers me the most, however, is her complete disregard for how my gf feels and her refusal to take her concerns seriously. On multiple occasions, she has raised her voice to the point where she was in tears. Patients deserve compassion and understanding from their doctors, and unfortunately, that has not been our experience with Dr. Qayyum.

Thank you for your response. While I appreciate you addressing this, I must clarify a few things. It’s disheartening to see you dismiss this experience by suggesting she misquoted you (she did not). Rather than taking accountability or addressing her concerns, you seem more focused on saving face. The sentiment of your statement during the visit—whether verbatim or not—was undeniably dismissive and left her feeling unheard and disrespected.

Don’t you think patients would hesitate to voice their concerns directly, especially when they feel intimidated or invalidated, as was the case here. Furthermore, I am appalled by your decision to dismiss my girlfriend as a patient immediately after I shared her experience with your care. Instead of addressing the feedback constructively, this move appears retaliatory and unprofessional, further underscoring the lack of empathy and accountability she experienced under your care.

It’s disheartening to see a healthcare provider prioritize their ego over patient welfare. This situation highlights a troubling disregard for the very foundation of your profession—listening to and caring for your patients. Rather than reflecting on the issues raised, you’ve chosen to silence a patient who felt mistreated, which is not only unethical but also speaks volumes about the environment at your clinic.

In my opinion this behavior is unacceptable, and I hope other patients take note of how feedback is handled here. Patients deserve providers who are compassionate, responsive, and willing to take accountability—not ones who dismiss concerns or retaliate when held to task.
