The Nurses/Staff took such wonderful care of my Mom for the last 4 years . They made me feel at ease knowing she was safe in their care. My daughter & I always felt so welcome when we would visit my Mom. It was the cleanest Nursing Home I’ve been in. My Mom recently passed away and we miss her so much and we will miss seeing all the employees who were always so caring & helpful through a time in my life that was very hard. I am so grateful I chose the Okeechobee Health and Rehabilitation facility for my post operative rehab. I would give them ten stars if I could. Let me say that nothing is perfect. But they sure try, and come real close! I was there for 17 days, and saw how the long term patients were given personal, caring attention. Everyone on the staff was attentive and caring. There are some I would mention, but it wouldn’t be fair as I have poor name recollection and would leave others out. To summarize I had constant attention, smiling and caring CNA, RNs, Physical Therapists. I didn’t want to go home! Thank you OHCF!

I was there for 6 weeks for rehab for my broken abke. The CNA'S I had were lousy. My nurses Jacob and Jackie we're amazing as well as Rachel Michelle and Nadine. The food suck. Thank God my wife brought my food from home. The longest 6 weeks of my life

This place is an absolute enigma. I'm 59 and came in here after receiving a double pelvic fracture. Although some of the staff are helpful and caring others are not. They are so understaffed its unbelievable and every two days or so there's new people here. They have a huge turnover of help. I believe those leaving elderly loved ones here need to stay involved in their loved ones care. Speak up for those who cannot. As I could and did speak up for myself it is not a popular thing to do around here. Now having said that when I did ask to speak with someone in authority I was permitted to in a timely manner. Although they did try to address the issue it's just to overwhelming for them. They drop the ball on some "very" serious issues. Also if one nurse is rude and unprofessional do not mention it to the next shift nurse as I did with *nurse Jackie*. She said and I quote "I don't want to hear it. It wasn't me and has nothing to do with me". Un-quote! They do not take criticism well and I believe want their clientele as probably 80% or more of them are here, not aware whether they are getting the help and medications they are supposed to when they are supposed to. Mind you this is my opinion and I will gladly debate it with anyone whom wishes to. I believe it does have the capacity to be a good place but until they stop building new wings to house more beds and people and use some of their funding to hire adequate numbers of help and those trained for their jobs and really care about the people in their charge I fear it will forever hinder their capacity to improve. I will also be taking these issues and more up with the state medical board. Again, there are some truly caring and professional people here and it's a shame that others are just here to collect a paycheck. Those people have truly chosen the wrong career field. It's so very sad.

My mom is a resident here and the following are our observations: her nurses are excellent and some CNAs truly care, the facility is clean, the admin is helpful, & activities are adequate; however, they are very short staffed, some CNAs are brought in through a temp agency and don’t know the needs of the patients, full time CNAs are overworked and over-extended, they run out of necessary supplies (diapers, wipes, paper towels, etc) frequently, the food is horrible and not healthy. Many people have complained about the food, but they won’t hire a good chef to prepare more nutritious and better tasting food. They only have a limited number of hoya lifts that are working. Not enough to service the entire facility. They are also not repaired in a timely manner. We feel since it was sold, that the total experience and care has diminished significantly. And this has been an opinion by many: staff, residents, and family.

My mother has had great care at OHC and I would recommend this facility to everyone. It always is clean, odorless and the patients all look very well cared for. Staff is friendly and ready to help. Truly a 5 star facility!

I ask that you please read my message. So, you may be able to make your own educated, and investigative decision before placing your loved one into Okeechobee Healthcare Facility. I want you to all know the reasons why I pulled my mother from OHF in the middle of the Corona-virus Pandemic. OHF.
