I was there on a Saturday after being referred by a walk-in clinic. We drove right up to valet parking and were immediately taken care of. It took three stops to find the actual ER registration desk, but not a huge inconvenience. We were seen right away. Wait was maybe 10 minutes total to be seen by RN for examination. I think the RN was Darren, funny guy, made the experience very relaxing. I did not catch the name of the tech doing the blood work, but she was delightful. I was brought right in to the exam room. I think I saw 7-8 medical people during the visit. Dr Soxman was the primary doctor, but the attending also came in to follow up. Emily Alford was my primary nurse and she was extremely good at her job. She made it as relaxing an experience as possible. I think I came into the ER at 1:30 and was discharged at 6:30 pm, excellent care and a great 4-page summary of my visit with follow-up instructions. The whole experience was top-notch. Everyone I came into contact with was professional. I hope I never have to go there again, but I would highly recommend to anyone.

The facility and staff are amazing, although copay costs for certain tests can be up to 10 times other facilities. The main problem if you're admitted and have dietary restrictions is the complete lack of proper nutrition. I have stomach issues so they have me on clears. I'm gluten intolerant so my 'gluten free lunch' is 5 pots of sugar and water. Make it make sense. Fortunately I have someone who can bring me something nutritious later, that super rare and elusive gf chicken broth. 🤷‍♂️

My son came there from the Toledo Blade emergency room with a room. They made him spend 45 minutes in the lobby, even though he had a room assigned to him. No one seems to communicate there you can sit there for hours days and nobody will get back to you. You have to be an advocate for yourself and I think that is disgusting. I don’t understand how a hospital can run like this. The nurses station has pleasant people, but they are actually no help they spend most of their time on their cell phones and don’t even respond to things like cuts on the head, headache water it’s ridiculous.

Spent 5 hours in the ER last night with an amazing crew who took care of me and my family. They absolutely rocked. Every nurse, doctor x-ray tech and registration clerk was absolutely amazing. They did their job better and with more joy than anyone I've ever met. They were all a godsent blessing. Thank you. This is the only hospital I will go to. This is where I know I'm safe and in good hands.

Spent ten days here with my loved one recently was just discharged. I would like to thank Robert Craig PA-C in the ER for being an absolute blessing for me and my fiance, Tina in the ICU was a caring, compassionate RN & we will forever be thankful for her kindness and care. We were then moved to step down 9East, we arrived to our new floor - The RNs came in and started working on my fiancé, I sat in the chair, as the last 36 hours have been a nightmare not knowing if my fiance was going to live, no sleep & emotionally drained. My fiancés nurse, asked me “So who are you, his mom?” In a snarky, sarcastic way. I answered, to her, “Do I look like his mother?” He’s 34, I would be 65 yo? I then asked her name- she told me her name was Megan. I asked for the supervisor, she came in the Clinical Manager, I don’t recall her name and asked what the problem was. I then told her how I was welcomed by her staff and what comment she made to me. I asked if she thought I looked like his mother? She said no, you don’t I’m sorry. I let her know how upset I was & instantly was crying, the trauma I just went through and for her nurse to have zero empathy was a shame she would think jokes were funny in a time of unknown for a family member. I hope Megan finds a new floor to work on, she is not competent for being compassionate on Step down. Our nurses Sarah & Rachel on step down were night and day from what we had. Thankfully we were taken care of after that.

I recently visited the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Emergency Room after a traumatic injury and subsequent surgery. Despite the severity of my situation, the lack of concern from the staff was both evident and deeply troubling.

The overall environment was disorganized, with staff appearing confused and taking patients back without the necessary documentation, which only added to the delays. I heard it straight from the nurse’s mouth. The wait time was horrific, and there was no clear communication about the process or estimated timelines. For a facility meant to handle emergencies, the level of care and organization was alarmingly inadequate.

I strongly urge leadership to address these issues to ensure that future patients receive the timely and compassionate care they deserve.

Avoid this ER. I have stage 4 breast cancer, with painful bone mets. My oncologist told me to go to an ER. I checked in and noticed the ER was jam packed and asked how long the wait was, but they had no clue. It didn't take long for someone to come and take my vitals and that person told me it could be hours because they were short staffed. I waited 4 hours in pain and couldn't take it any more. So I told the registration desk I had to leave. I was surprised to get a bill for emergency room service, when I never was seen by a Dr. I think this hospital has a scam going on. They know if you check in and get your vitals taken, they can charge you for that, unfortunately I didn't know that. They can make you wait for hours and you're just supposed to tolerate that poor service. My Blue Cross insurance refused to pay for some bogus reason (saying I left a planned appointment). Honestly, I didn't plan to go to the ER. So this reason is ridiculous. Now the hospital has sent the bill to collections. If I was an illegal immigrant they would just write this off, but this hospital would rather harass people with stage 4 cancer. Just dispicable!

Beware of this hospital! I came in for a migraine for 2 days and they found I had low blood pressure. It took them 3 HOURS to get an IV placed in the ER. I know I am a difficult stick but come on!! I was admitted to the hospital. I had serious issues with multiple doctors throughout the day. I had been on Saboxone and was not taking it at the current time. As soon as they found that out, OMG I WAS TREATED LIKE A DRUG ADDICT!!! The things they put in my medical record was apauling. Some things they NEVER discussed with me!! I know I messed up by not taking it but it does not give this hospital the right to treat me the way they did. I left AMA because I was so upset. I am taking this up as far as I can. I have been to this hospital many times before and have NEVER been treated this way. I have also found out by others that they have been here and not been treated fairly either. How 😔
