I’m a Patient of gastroenterology. In the fall of 2023 I was recommended by my general physician to Meliora. Office is nice, new and clean. Staff is friendly.

At my first appointment they accepted my insurance and took my card with no issues. In November 2023 I had two procedures.

Here are my issues:
First: I started receiving bills totaling several thousand dollars after consistently messaging through their portal requesting a reason that no insurance was being applied on any of the invoices. Getting no answers from their billing dept, I called my insurance company. I was told that Dr Abeldalwi was not in network until Feb 2024, yet their front desk staff took all my insurance and never said a word. I was being billed for out of network services.

Second issue: Why have a patient portal if they don’t answer messages ? I sent numerous messages to attention of the billing department about this from 5/31-7/31. I also sent portal messages regarding my health issues returning , with no reply. Yesterday I left a message on their voicemail for the doctor on call to call me back, as I wasn’t feeling well, but never got a call back when the message said I would. I had to call my general physician for the prescription that Dr A’s Office should have written. I needed help and had questions and could not count on Meliora Healthcare.
How does an office run like this? I am baffled.
I did have some trouble with portal messages not being answered when I first started to go to there, but was told they were a new office and still Ironing out wrinkles. I get that. One would think the wrinkles should been gone 10 months later.
I will be moving on to another gastroenterology practice. Too bad. I liked some of the staff there.

UPDATE 10/31/24.- it is only fair that i update this post. Meliora healthcare has made some changes and it is much easier to schedule appointments , they've straightened out problems with their portal and the problems with insurance and my invoices.

I had a wonderful first experience in the office with Dr Albeldawi . I needed a wise and caring Dr to point me in the right direction for my GI challenges.
Mary Romero , APRN, out of the kindest of her heart squeezed me in this week, and helped me so much. I was in dire straits, she evaluated, and with Dr’s advice , sent me home with the right rx and advice .
