I'm really surprised that more people haven't left positive reviews! It was my first time in a rehab, and those who had been to multiple rehabs in the past, talked a lot about how much better Hazelden Betty Ford Naples is compared to any of the others they had been to.
It's a 47 bed residential program (they also offer IOP). I was there for just over 30 days and can't say enough great things. Obviously the most important thing is the recovery program. Top Notch!!
There was really only one facilitator I didn't like listening to...and we were in 4-6 different sessions every day! The counselors were all fantastic (you have YOUR counselor, and if you don't click with them, you can move to a different counselor. I only know of 1 person that did that, that's how great they all are)!
The finance mgr is amazing in helping you navigate through insurance and payments. The continuing care coordinator insures you are ready for discharge with all the resources you'll need once you leave (no matter where you live!)
You choose the groceries you want from a Publix list and cook yourself...I LOVED that, way better than the detox I came from where there was a cook and you got whatever they made. There's a large gas grill on the patio and you can use that whenever you want...which my roommates and I did!
The condos are nice enough. No private rooms. I cried for 2 hours when I got there because I couldn't imagine rooming with others, at my age. But, in true recovery from alcohol and addiction, it's exactly what you need to get over yourself. My roommate and I will be friends for life, and I left with phone numbers of at least 10 people that I considered friends and will definitely stay in touch with.
No surprise, there were clients there that I loved, and others I didn't, but you have the space to avoid those folks you don't want to spend time with. And again, once released, we all need to know how to handle the good and bad in sobriety and the setting was perfect for "practicing" both fellowship with those who understand what you're going through and of patience for the others, so you don't use again when you're faced with jerks "in the real world".
There were a lot of ups and downs while I was there, and looking back, the negatives were mostly me and my disease thinking and talking for me. If you leave too soon, you most likely won't have liked the place. If you stick out a full program, this is the place to go to get better, and to get all the knowledge and tools you'll need to be successful in sobriety!!

If you’re reading this as a potential client or family member of a client, know that you are making the right choice going to Hazelden. I firmly believe there is no better treatment center in the U.S. if you are willing to be open and honest with yourself and put in the work. Every member of the staff is caring, knowledgeable and there to support your recovery - from the counselors and techs, to the clinical team and even housekeeping and maintenance. There were many treatment centers closer to me in PA, but every professional we spoke to recommended Hazelden. I’m so incredibly glad as I head home today to have been fortunate enough to have the experience I did. Be cautious when reading other reviews as often those most apt to provide feedback are the ones who weren’t fully committed to their recovery.

Hazelton Betty Ford Foundation in Naples, Florida was a good place for me to re-engage in sobriety. Counseling Staff was very good. I was on day treatment and had the freedom to leave the facility after 3 pm during weekdays and 9:30 am on weekends. This schedule allowed me to regain balance in my life.

The biggest issue I had with HBFF was the nursing staff. Most of the Nursing staff were lazy and seemed nonchalant when dealing with my prescription refills. I eventually was able to go pickup my own meds after being placed on day treatment.

The maintenace guy, Travis, was outstanding. He was a very nice and courtesy southern gentleman.

I would recommend HBFF to anyone who needs help.

Wow! This place was amazing. Anyone who's serious about recovery and has a chance to go here you will not regret it. The counselors are top notch. They all really care about you and are there for you even if not your assigned counselor. The phycotherapist and the spiritual advisor are absolutely amazing. If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired give yourself a break and stay here as long as possible to build your foundation. You won't regret it. Thank you to all the staff. I will never forget any of you.

Thank you, Hazelden Betty Ford.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Naples location, directed by Gail Perreault, Clinical Director. Long story short - The Betty Ford Foundation saved my life. They helped me turn around my substance use, physical well-being, my mental health, and my family for that matter. The most important facts that I have to state is the #1 best curriculum, research, very well-educated licensed professionals, safe location/property, cleanliness of the campus, etc. I have been to several rehabs, and I have never had the most profound education and care to such a level provided by Hazelden Betty Ford. The campus and condos above the group rooms and offices of the main floor were very clean and well-kept. The location is absolutely gorgeous; best description - luxurious. All rooms and policies/procedures due to the Covid-19 pandemic, were sanitized and upheld to the highest regard. Due to severe alcohol and Benzodiazepine use, my physical state was horrible, and my mind melted but the Naples location assisted me through the journey of changing that. I was suffering from Post-Acute-Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS). My body was at an extremely high risk of seizures. I had such severe symptoms that the staff and my peers observed me, one of my friends there privately told the Nursing staff, and two nurses physically held me up to walk me to the Medical offices where the Nurse Practitioner evaluated my state and kindly recommended an anti-seizure medication. I was extremely hesitant about the medication until the NP went over every detail pertaining to the medication. Long story short - I full heartedly know this medication saved my life. The Clinical Director (Gail), my therapist (Mayra), the counseling staff, Nursing that monitored my Heart disease, and Continuum Care Coordinators deserve my upmost appreciation and gratitude. Genuine graciousness that is priceless; I could never repay. I have so many great compliments to all staff and very nice stories of my experience there with my peers that are now best friends. Best friends that are sober and were even in my excellent Intensive-Out-Patient program that is extraordinarily held by Ms. Heidi Martell and Terry G. I am currently to the phase of Outpatient, having therapy with Katie Stabile once a week. Amazing therapist and overall person.

Thank you, Hazelden Betty Ford of Naples, Florida. I cannot wait to come back and visit!

Special thanks to:
Gail Perreault, Mayra, Heather H, Peter, Nurses Chris & Patty, Aman, Bill, Mike, Ed, Jess, Terry, NP Donna, Dan, Amanda A. (Amanda A. is in Admissions; was the very first wonderful staff member I met), and anyone that I may be missing at this current moment. Every member of staff will forever be in my heart and thoughts. I implore any individual suffering from substance use and/or comorbid mental health to let Hazelden Betty Ford and the peers take you under their wing.
God Bless and best wishes! You can do this! 🙂

Sincerely,
Kyle H.

P.S. Bring your sunscreen to the optional beach and parks (I learned the hard way even though I grew up on the beach)!

I was kicked out of Betty Ford after relapsing, but this turned out to be a good thing. In fact, facing that hardship gave me a a new perspective on addiction that changed my mindset entirely. Thank you!

Start to finish, time at Hazelden in Naples was incredibly disappointing and filled with misinformation. For starters, this is NOT a detox facility. So do not show up inebriated…or do, it appears they take some who are and turn away others who are. Up to their discretion. And their discretion is based on a woman’s opinion in management, who has no business being in the realm of recovery. This woman has absolutely no empathy nor therapeutic skill set, yet sometimes she is used to hold group therapy. Which frankly, should never happen. Should you encounter said person, lay low, keep your head down and do not engage. She will suck the soul right out of you. You will know who she is once you meet her.

Aside from that, the therapy is just okay. Each patient is assigned a social worker but typically only get to see the amazing therapist once, unless you specifically request him or he feels there is a need. Social workers are good but not versed in therapeutic remedies. All sessions are group therapy, often led by a social worker. This program is coed- living and group wise. There are a couple segregated sessions, but not many.

If you call for info, you may be told they have a pool/gym/chef/housekeeping. They have none of those! The facility is incredibly small, sitting on less than a block. There are no activities and nothing to do at the facility. No tv’s in rooms (one small group tv room). You are allowed to go walking at a park across the street but again, this is a very small park. You do all your own cooking and cleaning. Which isn’t a problem, but can be if you have three other roommates who are not
cleanly. They pay for your food, but you are responsible for cooking all meals. With a potluck dinner held Friday night. Accommodations are spacious but very LOUD! You literally hear everything in the place.

The day begins at 6AM for morning meds and ends after 8PM, so they keep you busy! Except on weekends where this is a lot of free time. If you sign up in time, you get 2 hours at the beach on Saturday. Otherwise. There truly is nothing to do if you’re a residential patient. People run amok here with sex, drugs, residential patients randomly leaving the property. Techs are disgruntled and one in particular is incredibly rude. One of the program directors uses intimidation and scare tactics. They preach abstinence and kick people out for vaping, while staff vapes in the parking lot. There was a very noticeable large box of Corona visible in one of the staff member’s office…

If you want the name recognition, I highly suggest you try the Center City location. If you want more of a step-down facility with freedoms, this is a decent choice.
