I am my mother in laws care taker since February 2024. I dedicate every day to her care. I took the initiative to get her PT and OT to help provide her more quality of life. I feed her, dispense her meds, wipe her. I clean her feces off the toilet daily. And I always makes sure her dignity remains intact. I am at her beck and call. I take care of her better than I take care of myself. I was informed by the home health nurse that I need to be aware of all her medical history. I went to AMC of arley today. They treatment I recieved from them does not sit well with me. I explained to them what the home health nurse told me. And they said the patient needed to sign a hippa statement for me. We stated 3 times that we needed those papers for her to sign. We were ignored. She acted as if she did not want to accommodate us. I eventually had to say please get the hippa statement to sign. I think people need to be more aware of the struggle and dedication that caretakers provide. She actually treated me like it was none of my business. And after signing the papers I could tell she was bothered by having to give me an overview of my mother in laws health. Since I am the person that handles absolutely everything for her, you'd think they'd have a little compassion and want to help. A little courtesy goes a long way.
