I was a patient here for about two weeks the place gets a bad run for its money it’s not to awfully bad , besides the awful food which you can switch out for an alternative menu ( which I wasn’t told about until two days prior of leaving) also 15 minute breaks for outside. I feel sorry that permanent residents that don’t get enough time to actually enjoy the outdoors. The cna’s especially Rosie and Lucy the activities director work hard and are very kind and don’t want to forget the nursing staff.!! It seems to be run like a huge caring family!! If you can manage to get through the first couple of nights because it seems like the hospital doesn’t make the transition hospital/nursing home very easy like transfer of meds etc you’ll come out shining !!! Just stick it out , everything is hard with change but most worth it in the end!!!!

If I could give you minus stars than I would. My father in law died today and they sent his body to to wrong funeral home. Having to deal with a death is hard enough, now I have to track his body down. Night shift doesn't do anything but sit there and do Nothing. Day shift works only because the director Paul is walking around. I do have to say Christine is a wonderful person. The lady at the desk is lazy and wouldn't even get up off her butt and walk me to were I needed to go. That place needs to absolutely fire Tammy the CM. She is heartless and only care about the bottom line and clearly doesn't know how to handle patients with dementia. Who wears a go-go short dress to work anyways,Tammy. Do not send your loved ones to this place even if it is the only place that has a bed. I could go on and on but you get the picture.

Aspire on Pondella is a disgrace. This facility is held together by duct tape and a wish, and my father paid the ultimate price.

My dad—a disabled, non-ambulatory elderly man recovering from a UTI and dealing with cellulitis—deserved care and dignity. Instead, he was abused. LCSO and DCF were called, and investigations were launched.

He fell and was left on the floor, covered in his own feces. A male nurse and his girlfriend mocked him. That same nurse dragged him, threw him onto his bed, and left his call button out of reach. His cell phone was moved so he couldn’t call for help. There are no security cameras on-site, no accountability, just excuses.

When I tried to remove him, I was told, ā€œHe’s not ready for discharge.ā€ Once they finally removed his PICC line, we left. He was there for PT and OT. He was discharged with RSV and pneumonia. Days later, he died in the hospital.

Aspire Health Group, which owns this facility, is part of a disturbing pattern in Florida’s for-profit nursing home industry. Formerly known as Consulate Health Care (which went bankrupt and rebranded in 2022), Aspire operates under different names, but the greed remains.

Here’s how it works:

Private equity firms buy struggling nursing homes at bargain prices.
They slash costs—staffing, food, medical care—to maximize profits.
They collect government reimbursements (Medicare/Medicaid) no matter the care quality.
They funnel profits away through shell companies and inflated leases.
When lawsuits, investigations, or financial instability hit, they declare bankruptcy, rebrand, and repeat.
Florida, with its large elderly population, is a prime target for these predatory business tactics. Patients suffer while investors rake in millions.

Aspire at Pondella is a textbook case of this greed. Calls go unanswered. Concerns are dismissed. Supplies are nonexistent. When I asked for a dry erase marker for my dad’s board, the entire facility didn’t have one.

If you love your family, do not send them here. This is not care. This is suffering for profit.

DO BETTER.

Total unacceptable Care given to my grandmother while she was in there, she fell on the floor and the nurses asked her now What are you gonna do? Couldn’t get pain medicine at night wouldn’t let her close Her blind. She was in there total of 4 days till we could get her out. Her discharge papers said she no longer needed care. Not the truth why we wanted out of there!!

DO NOT Please if you love your loved one do not send them here. We have been trying to figure out how to get our mother out of here. The staff is rude and denies they are only to place blame on the family. They do not help our disabled mother charge her phone again she's disabled , do not give her access to her funds they say she has to go downstairs but she is not able to she is bed bound so I have to send her food, necessity items or my sister has to go up there who has medical problems of her own. While they continue to hold her money .. Ordering food for your loved one is a challenge as sometimes she gets it ( hours later ) and sometimes she doesn't so money lost there too. She's had items taken from her possession with noone to account for where it went. When I questioned why they won't assist her more as it is in their policy to provide what she needs with her funds by filling a form out the response I got was, if you ask nicely maybe I will? They talk to the family as if we are of non existence. We have had to replace several of her phones and activities is there to allow the residents aka my mother to make calls if she is not accessible to a phone but they do not allow her to do this not even on her birthday!!!! Called all day today only to be told activities left for the day called me honey sarcasticly as if we have no rights to our mother. Keep your loved ones away from here I do not appreciate being called honey, especially in the way she used it. We have to find a way for someone to go in there and audit this place and actually handle all the complaints I've read and continue to read on this facility.

Friday 3pm my grandmother arrives at Aspire she won't be acknowledged until 9:30 pm.... Saturday morning at 3:22 pm she has been sitting in her own feces for a hour and finally calls my mother for help who has me contact the facility, I'm told the nurses are busy and will call me back to see what I want. My mother ends up going there 2 hours later the "busy" is going on a smoke break and then Facebook (see picture as proof) while the help likes are on. Sunday 10am my grandma has puked on herself and after giving up calls my mother who is out of town while I'm sick in bed so we PAY SOMEONE TO STAY WITH MY GRANDMOTHER WHILE SHE IS THIS GOD FORSAKEN PLACE. If you don't love the person in your care and want them to suffer this place is for you cause in opposite world it gets five stars

I visited a friend at Aspire today. The CNA's were all so nice. Everyone looks like they enjoy their work. Brinda was excellent in getting some equipment my friend needed. They had a couple of singers there today it was a lot of fun. For as busy as they can get, I think it was very clean. They were fast to help with anything we asked for. Every single person I met today was kind and caring with a big smile. I couldn't resist complimenting so many of their staff. Our CNA was amazing, attentive and the most beautiful smile. I wish I could remember her name to compliment her. I will have to call tomorrow and let them know she was incredible.

So far, one day into this program for my husband's hip replacement and he is NOT happy. They didn't have the medications required for his pain relief..they put him in a room with no access to nursing attention - he couldn't get out of bed to go to the bathroom ..no wheelchair.no walker, no assistance and nobody to help. Bad sign is when u drive into the facility parking and there is a sign outside requesting help in nursing. They had no water available for him to drink so I went to front desk and inquired and then they gave me some water. How would he have gotten it if I didn't show up? They ARE RUNNING ON A SHOESTRING BUDGET! This nursing rehab facility is the worst and I hope my husband can get transfered to a legitimate rehab facility. Do NOT send your loved one here!
