I delivered both of my children here and have visited the children’s ER 5 times. Some visits were true emergencies. Some were minor visits because it was the weekend and we couldn’t go to their regular pediatrician. We have received excellent care every single time. All the staff I have encountered have been professional, experienced and wonderful! Each visit I was made to feel like my children were in the absolute best hands. On one occasion my son had broken his arm and got immediate and excellent care. They even set his arm there instead of having us wait to go to the orthopedic surgeon the next day which helped his healing process. In another occasion my daughter arrived in DKA and was immediately diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I’m forever grateful the staff was so reassuring to me during one of the scariest moments of my life. My daughter spent a couple days in the PICU and subsequently in the pediatric recovery ward. Every experience was exemplary. I’m so grateful to have this pediatric hospital so close by.

I hope to never need to come back to a childrens hospital, but if I do, this is the place. I literally have no complaints (and that’s super rare). Been here for almost 4 days and the care me and my child have been receiving is equivalent to that of a family member. The place is clean, the rooms are beautiful, even the food is good. But most importantly- the staff is EXCEPTIONAL. They deserve so much praise.

I felt comfortable from the moment I arrived. The waiting room had just been cleaned and it looked and smelled sanitized. They took my 14 month old son back within 2 minutes of us sitting down. The man who took his vitals was so kind and tried comforting him, he even brought him a cute stuffed bunny (He wasn’t interested in it at the time but by the time we left and the rest of the night when we got home he hugged his bunny) All the nurses were great, the doctor was held up with a trauma and they kept checking on us, bringing him popsicles, pedialyte and water. The doctor was very helpful and calming. I would take either of my boys back if we need another ER visit.

The best pediatrics hospital in ft.lauderdale that my son has been to so far. The nurses are great and they have Xbox nurse Ally has been wonderful. A little downside is they take a long time for meds orders, but it's a busy night the rooms are full.

Very competent and very friendly staff. We felt very safe and well taken care off when we had to bring our baby to the ER. All the procedures were fast. We were well informed all the time about what was going to happen. Of course we hope, that we do not need to return, but in case of emergency we recommend the Salah Foundation children’s Hospital.

Outrageous experience. I took my 16 y/o daughter in for abdominal pain (potentially early symptoms of appendicitis) and we were treated with extreme stereo-typical bias. The staff referred to me as Mommy or Mama, even after asked several times to refer to me by name, or simply call me Ma'am. Dr. Ortiz asked my daughter to rate her pain and when she told him her pain was an 8/10, he replied, “No, it’s not an 8, if it were an 8 you’d be crying.” I begged him to do some tests, and he ordered the bare minimum bloodwork and ultrasound. Although there were several abnormal values on the bloodwork, they said she is fine. When questioned, they said she has a stomach virus but neglected to explain what it could be. In the same breath they said she likely had Salmonella or Shingella (both are bacteria not virus) and they stated she’s getting better. she had 8 symptoms of CoVid (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, fatigue, severe headache, diarrhea) that we’re ignored. They refused to give my daughter a CoVid test, and told us that she did not have symptoms of Covid (they clearly did not follow CDC guidelines for clinical case/symptoms definition). She absolutely had more than 2 of the symptoms identified by the CDC. They did not readily give me the results of the ultrasound, and when asked (during discharge) they simply said “it was normal.” I told them the ultrasonographer indicated that my daughter was constipated and her colon was full of stool, so I planned on taking her home and cleaning her out with mag citrate or orine juice and milk of mag. I told them I didn’t understand how her bowel could possibly be full of stool in light of all the diarrhea. They left the room and came back in and stated there’s no stool, the colon is full of only gas (inability to pass gas was another sign of appendicitis that was ignored), her recent urinary hesitancy started last night (another sign) was justified by dehydration (even though my daughter had been drinking 3-4 (16 oz) bottles of water daily). They claimed she was dehydrated but did not offer or administer any IV fluids for rehydration (even light of our report of diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting). No antiemetic, antibiotic (for bacterial infection) or any other medication was offered or prescribed. The white nurse spoke to my highly educated daughter as if she were a young child and referred to stool as “caca, poopoo, poopies, and doo doo,” and told my daughter she needed to swab my her “boom boom.” My 16 year old daughter is in Early College and has never been spoken to in such a substandard, demeaning way by persons in a professional role. All but the registration staff (Alexia) were consistently condescending and belittling to us in their tone and word choices. In the end, Dr. Ortiz impatiently insisted that my daughter is fine and nothing is wrong with her. My daughter was instructed to avoid eating hot fries and takis (whatever those are). I explained we eat organic, unprocessed food, and strictly drink spring water. As with most of my responses (including the one stating I’m a nurse of over 20 years, when asked if I’m in the healthcare field) this one too, was met with disbelief and dismissal. Complete social injustice and extreme lack of professionalism throughout. Totally cookie-cutter incompetent medicine was practiced at this visit on 2/13/2021. We may have tight, curly hair and brown skin, but none of the stereo types the staff imposed, applied to us. I am 100% certain if we had been Caucasian, our experience would have been markedly different, more respectful, less condescending and profiling, and likely, more helpful, insightful and supportive.
The behavior we were subjected to was disgraceful and shameful on their part.

When asked what to do if my daughter’s pain and n/v persists, the resident replied impatiently, “Then come back!”

On the way out, I thought the door would automatically open because I heard a click as I approached the door, and as I waited for it to open, I heard a staff member shouting loudly behind me from a distance, “Push Mommy!”
